  1. Don't worry ross73194, there won't be a war in North Korea, China would never allow it. They lost 600,000 to 1 million defending it last time and would probably do the same again.

They like NK just as it is because it acts as a barrier against democracy and prevents an easy escape route for defectors. It's also handy to have a worse example of repression nearby as it takes the heat off China.

So the concentration camps where people are kept naked in dog kennels will be there for the foreseeable future.

  2. Equality, equal rights.....lets think about that for a minute. You either have it or you don't. Partial equality doesn't make sense.

If you have equal rights for ethnic minorities, religions, women etc. and then restrict the rights of gay people, how is that logical or workable?

Regarding the gay marriage thing in the UK, when ever I heard opposition, I postulated the fallacy of partial equality and no one ever had a counter argument.

Besides, think of the benefits, it's stops protests, whinging and complaining, campaigns, policing costs and it gives left wing politicians the opportunity to do some real work for a change rather than campaigning and looking busy and thinking of catchy ideological statements for the press. I'm also sure there is less extrovert campness around which was the #1 annoyance for me.

I'm not sure what the Catholic Church has against gay rights as a high proportion of the priesthood are gay. There is a memo that was made public from a seminary in Scotland that expressly forbids trainee priests from giving each other girls names as visitors had overheard the common practice and were not pleased. Also:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_and_Roman_Catholic_priests#Estimating_numbers

Studies find it difficult to quantify specific percentages of Roman Catholic priests who identify as gay priests,[12][not in citation given] although the John Jay Report reported that "homosexual men entered the seminaries in noticeable numbers from the late 1970s through the 1980s",[13] and available figures for homosexual priests in the United States range from 15–58%.[12][14] A 2002 Los Angeles Times nationwide poll of 1,854 priests (responding) reported that 9 percent of priests identified themselves as homosexual, and 6 percent as "somewhere in between but more on the homosexual side." Asked if a "homosexual subculture" (defined as a "definite group of persons that has its own friendships, social gatherings and vocabulary") existed in their diocese or religious order, 17 percent of the priests said "definitely," and 27 percent said "probably." 53 percent of priests who were ordained in the last 20 years (1982-2002) affirmed such a subculture existed in the seminary when they attended.[14]

One report suggested that since the mid-1980s Roman Catholic priests in the United States were dying from AIDS-related illnesses at a rate four times higher than that of the general population; with most of the cases contracted through same-sex relations, and the cause often concealed on their death certificates. A follow up study done the next year by the Kansas City Star found AIDS-related death rate among priests was "more than six times" the rate among the general population in the 14 states studied.

The historic argument also falls flat as before St. Paul, gay relationships were widely accepted across Europe.

  3. Was ist das? Final solution for the homeless / unemployed question? Perhaps you could concentrate them in 'holiday camps' with special treatment for those unfit for work? As I am straying close to mentioning 'the war' lol, it's best to mention that work placements in exchange for benefits are already being trialed here in the UK:

    http://news.sky.com/story/1147058/jobless-to-be-forced-to-work-for-benefits

I agree that people who are out of work should be required to do something for a few hours a week in return for benefits if they are fit and well. It's good for personal well being and mental health as sitting around at home, drinking, doing drugs and playing games is proven to have adverse affects. I think the OP's forced labour / slavery option is perhaps a little extreme.

Who was it who said German Reunification might lead to a resurgence of the old ideas? lol

  4. To be fair to the UN it hasn't taken decades to reach this conclusion. Their hands were tied by certain members of the security council. It's actually very interesting that they are doing this. It means someone thinks it may be successful after decades of waiting.

  5. Has no relevance to the E-CAT which is what we were discussing.

Where are the repeatable experimental results relating to the theory on those slides and the resulting peer review?

The Manhattan Project took less time than this and all we are talking about is filling a metal tube with chemicals and applying heat to generate the desired effect. What's taking so long? They should have a working prototype by now running 24/7!

It even has metallurgists scratching their heads as this effect should have been observed decades ago in Nickle recycling or the manufacture of Nickle compounds. There are results from tests of billions of samples and nothing showing transmutation to copper.

Hint: look at what would be required to act as a nuclear catalyst in the E-CAT and look at Rossi's claims about a common, readily available substance - doesn't add up. A nuclear catalyst is very different from a chemical catalyst isn't it?

  6. @vilas

Did you know 1984 was written to parody life under totalitarian communism? You know, that ideology/system you think is better than democracy?

Clearly you don't have a credit or debit card, if you did you would know that Banks only know where you shopped, when and how much you paid. they don't know what you bought.

    @Crycek

You seem upset because most intelligence analysts think Snowden is a "useful idiot" for the FSB, no need to discredit him at all, he does that himself. If he doesn't believe in mass surveillance in general why the selective stealing / releases? Was there no damaging information on Russia / China or North Korea in the data bases? I would like to know how someone is defined that follows / believes in a "useful idiot". No doubt the status would be somewhat lower?

  7. Hi all

Tepco has admited it had underreported actual radiation levels. Radiation levels were in fact 5 times bigger than Tepco reported:

    http://in.reuters.com/article/2014/02/12/japan-nuclear-fukushima-radiation-idINL2N0LH02Y20140212

This comes along with increasing reports of radiation linked cancers among Japanese Children:

    http://the-japan-news.com/news/article/0001013629

And with more reports of holes in the reactor containment beginning to surface:

    http://enformable.com/2014/01/tepco-confirms-hole-fukushima-daiichi-unit-2-suppression-pool/

It is time to admit that nuclear fission technology is a bust.

    Kind Regards walker

It's time to admit you spread nonsense, bullshit and fearmongering, this is just the latest in this thread.

    1. TEPCO did not report any levels at the time as there was a problem understanding the results of that survey. They have conducted a study to explain the anomalies in the results and only reported the findings when they could be confirmed:

    http://www.tepco.co.jp/en/announcements/2014/1234213_5932.html

    2. Cysts, nodules and tumors on the thyroid commonly don't result in any symptoms and many people have them without knowing about it. Cancers of the thyroid due to radioactive iodine exposure take 4-5 years, they are slow growing. The medical experts involved in the Fukushima thyroid survey all say the number found is due to survey bias and cannot yet be linked to the Fukushima disaster. If you scan the thyroids of the entire population the number of abnormalities found is always higher than what is found in normal incidence data. The scientists in charge have stated that comparing the 2 sets of data is not correct. Autopsy studies on people who died from other causes show that more than one third of adults technically have a thyroid growth/cancer. As usual conspiracy theorists and fearmongers quote data without qualification or relevant perspective.

    http://ajw.asahi.com/article/0311disaster/fukushima/AJ201312220021

    3. The hole in the supresion chamber story is a wrong or a hoax.

No announcements by TEPCO or Japan NRA. They have drilled a hole into the torus room to conduct ultrasound tests, not sure if some journalists have run away with their imaginations due to a mistranslation/ misunderstanding, it's happened before.

Search "Fukushima fearmongering" lol, it's worse that I thought.

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2013/08/10/the-fukushima-radiation-leak-is-equal-to-76-million-bananas/

  8. Yeah they might not empty your bank account or hack your fb acc to post pics with you naked, but I sure as hell don't want the whole NSA(or every agency around the world for that matter) to know that Krycek talked about hot wax with his gf last night.:p

That's a good example of the paranoia of the whole 'mass surveillance' misnomer. Those with a lack of knowledge think that every phone call and email is scrutinised by someone when it isn't. They are looking for a tiny fraction of 1% of the meta data they collect (which isn't contents) relating to certain targets. Unless you call or email someone in the Taliban, Mexican Cartels or Russian/Chinese/North Korean military or similar no one will bother looking further. They don't have the resources to do that.

One thing that bothers me about all this is that much like the CND and other peace campaigns the aim of this is one way - against western Interests. The petition in post 1 is not against mass surveillance everywhere - it's targeted at the NSA. If this was a legitimate and just campaign it would be against mass surveillance wherever it occurs. Has anyone at the Guardian or anywhere else focused on the mass surveillance that occurs in China or Russia?

Have a read of this, contains similarities doesn't it?:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_influence_on_the_peace_movement

Putin's playing the same game he was trained to do in the 70's and 80's. Now the internet exists it's much easier, all he had to do was set up Russia Today to make some of the crap look legitimate.

There is a new cold war and it's already about 7 years old, many analysts in Russian affairs have noticed the same patterns particularly within BRICS.

The New Cold War: How the Kremlin Menaces Both Russia and the West [Paperback]

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-New-Cold-War-Kremlin/dp/0747596360

    The Snowden Operation

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Snowden-Operation-Greatest-Intelligence-ebook/dp/B00I0W61OY/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1392376026&sr=1-1

  9. If people were interested, I'm sure they would be searching for news and information on this and circumventing the mass media as many on this site do.

Are you sure the low turnout isn't due to lack of interest? It must be a factor?

Nevemind, perhaps anyone interested can fight back again another day?

  10. Well the 11th has now passed behind the international date line. It is now no longer the 11th anywhere on the planet.

    Number crunching:

    238,588 signatures collected.

    2,857,200,000 internet users world wide.

    that's just 0.008% :thud:

    epic fail or what?

  11. Snowdenistas? ;)

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10595021/Edward-Snowden-Did-the-American-whistleblower-act-alone.html

    http://www.amazon.com/The-Snowden-Operation-Greatest-Intelligence-ebook/dp/B00I0W61OY

Above makes the point that none of the information Snowden leaked pertains to the mass surveillance conducted by Russia or China against their own citizens or beyond (both have listening posts in Cuba) even though details of it were certainly available to him. Todays campaign is also not directed at mass surveillance globally - the traffic in this is as usual all in one direction. Why is this not against Mass Surveillance wherever you may find it, that might be something worth supporting. Why is the mass surveillance conducted by certain nations (one is the fiefdom of an ex KGB agent) always ignored?

  12. ROFL

Someone got one of my jokes and I didn't have to explain it this time! lol

Regarding the E-CAT and the flawed science behind it, this said it all back in 2011 and still does:

    scivspseudosci3-600x453.jpeg

    http://scienceblogs.com/startswithabang/2013/05/21/the-e-cat-is-back-and-people-are-still-falling-for-it/

Years later and still no independent demonstration or peer review and it certainly has never been used to generate electricity.

  13. Ah, Sokal... one of the first things we did in sources/research course. But of course, gravity is just a socially constructed category, who would doubt that. At least not any peer reviewers.

Why yes it's that simple. To abolish gravity all you have to do is create a social construct. If you get around 100 people to agree that gravity is a problem (it's dangerous, causes people to fall a lot), express the opinion, publish it on some blogs and media sites, then apples will float in the air instead of dropping on heads. It works with everything else, there appears to be no difficulty in getting people to believe anything they read, so getting rid of gravity using this method shouldn't be a problem.

  14. One thing you may or may not be aware of is the cold war between academics of Humanities and the Natural Sciences, it has some bearing on this subject.

If you like a good old fashioned fight have a look at this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokal_affair

The Sokal affair, also called the Sokal hoax,[1] was a publishing hoax perpetrated by Alan Sokal, a physics professor at New York University. In 1996, Sokal submitted an article to Social Text, an academic journal of postmodern cultural studies. The submission was an experiment to test the journal's intellectual rigor and, specifically, to investigate whether "a leading North American journal of cultural studies – whose editorial collective includes such luminaries as Fredric Jameson and Andrew Ross – [would] publish an article liberally salted with nonsense if (a) it sounded good and (b) it flattered the editors' ideological preconceptions".[2]

    Topics to consider are:

social constructionism, postmodernist deconstructionism, anti-intellectualism, relativism and "the Academic Left".

Reading around this topic might lead you to ask yourself some important questions such as:

-Do individuals and groups participate in the social construction of their perceived social reality according to their belief system?

-Does a rejection of authority, an acceptance of anti-intellectual culture, lack of understanding/rejection of scientific method reinforce the perceived reality?

-If an individual reasons that their beliefs are absolute, then might circumstances where the individual may find those beliefs to be false or mistaken never arise, despite scientific evidence to the contrary?

-Do journalists, blogs and forums regularly fall victim to and defend misinformation and nonsense because: (a) it sounded good and (b) it flattered the common ideology.

There is also a good book: Fashionable Nonsense: Postmodern Intellectuals' Abuse of Science.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fashionable_Nonsense

Sokal and Bricmont define abuse of mathematics and physics (and Science) as:

-Using scientific or pseudoscientific terminology without bothering much about what these words mean.

-Importing concepts from the natural sciences into the humanities without the slightest justification, and without providing any rationale for their use.

-Displaying superficial erudition by shamelessly throwing around technical terms where they are irrelevant, presumably to impress and intimidate the non-specialist reader.

-Manipulating words and phrases that are, in fact, meaningless.

-Self-assurance on topics far beyond the competence of the author and exploiting the prestige of science to give discourses a veneer of rigor.

I'm not sure about anyone else but I have noticed the same techniques being used in the various hoaxes and conspiracy theories posted around the web lately? Both amount to the same elaborate fakery IMHO.

  15. Hi all

In Reply to Mattar_Tharkari's question. No. No Need to, the sock puppet made an error and then tried to cover it up, compounding the error, I believe the story is, the sock puppet was traced by a forum/blog owner due to an infraction of the forums/blogs rules. I and several others pointed it out.

Worth noting that Krivit who the Sock puppet used to quote a lot has withdrawn from critiquing Rossi and that a lot of the Wiki articles that the sock puppet used to quote have been removed as they were found to be false bordering on defamation.

You on the other hand are known to track people on the internet, it has already been noted on this forum. I find such things odd. As I pointed out in the above quoted post. I am open about what I post, I do not use sock puppets or psudonym's or multiple identities. I leave that to people with something to hide. I was surprised at Mark being fooled by a sock puppet hense why I warned him, Mark is usualy a lot more politically savey than that.

    Kind Regards walker

Well you learn something every day - not seen the term sock puppet before. Just in case anyone is wondering, I don't post anywhere else but here. I am singularly loyal to BIS forums and I know they appreciate every word I post.

Krivit went as far as he could with the Andrea Rossi / E-CAT investigation, what's left to do? It would be more telling if he removed it, it's still there:

    http://newenergytimes.com/v2/sr/RossiECat/Andrea-Rossi-Energy-Catalyzer-Investigation-Index.shtml

There hasn't really been any changes for 8 months, the criminal history, flawed science and odd behaviour have not changed, no new updates apart from the new partners.

Regarding all these websites you link to. Are you a deciple of social constructionism? If lots of websites copy and paste the same information does it make it a real fact regardless of evidence to the contrary? If so what's the threshhold for truth 10 - 20 websites or what?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_constructionism

The scientific study that Industrial Heat LLC / Cherokee link to in their press release was widely panned for not following scientific method and the authors admitted that fact. Nothing has changed since then and new partners and investors doesn't change the lack of scientic basis for their claims. If Krivit and the rest of us are wrong, I honestly don't mind, limitless energy would be a good thing. But we are right to be cautious in light of what has occurred in the past.

    http://news.newenergytimes.net/2013/06/28/uppsala-university-professors-accuse-peers-of-wishful-thinking/

Ericsson and Pomp equate the May 20 paper to pseudoscience.

Can I ask why you claimed the Chinese President attended a foundation laying ceremony for a factory when that didn't happen?

Cherokee and Industrial Heat LLC share the same address and telephone numbers in the same suite, in the same small office building. If there is more to this than paperwork and a guy with 2 telephones on his desk then I would be happy to know about it. The scientific community have been asking for an independent peer review (that is not what happened) and some evidence of the claims for years. So far there isn't anything scientifically valid. Rossi is now years late with his promises and tales of factories in the USA were falsehoods. There were even conflicting claims made to Government Agencies who visited when someone raised concerns about the equipment emmiting gamma radiation. Rossi initially said on his blog that gamma radiation was detected, then told the agent the exact opposite.

I don't track people on the internet, I had a look at your facebook page as you link to it. Not for any nefarious reasons, just wondered who was behind the decade of conspiracy theories here (what's even more perplexing is the support for it!). Good luck with the singing, you are very tallented, not sure the image works though? Doesn't match the theme? I would suggest a beret and a Che Guevara T-shirt or similar.

  16. Say Walker!

Ian Walker · University of Westminster

Mary Yugo is a pseudonym try looking up who Mary Yugo is? Then consider why he/staff working for him, uses a female pseudonym and has/have never presented a single experiment he/they has/have carried out on LENR? ;)

When he logged in to one blog his real identity was shown to be George Hody via one his emails. This was then traced to a company working on technology that would be adversely affected by LENR. He then spent a considerable amount of time trying to remove his tracks but the way back machine and other internet archives prove his ID.

Tracing his IP which some people did reveals he now uses a Proxy Server to disguise who he is.

When some one uses a pseudonym in this way it is called a sock puppet. I would have thought you would be more politically aware of such methodologies and why people use them.

It is one of the reasons why when I comment on such things I identify myself as do most of the scientists who research LENR.

I would suggest you go and read some of the actual scientific papers on the subject rather than a sock puppet's hot air, or start reading the sun, the daily mail and the daily express.

You know this comment below the Wired nonsense article? You don't go hacking and tracing the IP of people around here do you?

  17. Why not link to any of the many english news articles about the Baoding High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Baoding HIDZ)?

The Chinese President did not attend the signing.

    No foundation stone was laid.

It's not a factory it's a Science and Technology Innovation Park for R&D in China's 'Valley of Electricity' where they are trying to solve their energy problems.

It's a park for multiple organisations to do R&D based on the Research Triangle Park (RTP) in North Carolina.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Research_Triangle_Park

The one line that has every LENR zipper-head on the planet doing cartwheels is: "nickel reactor new energy projects".

It could mean anything or be a misunderstanding/ bad translation.

If true it's one proposed R&D project among many.

Nothing exists yet apart from a signed agreement to construct a technology park.

    R&D != finished product.

R&D can produce much profit without actually producing anything in the end.

Nice of the Chinese Government to pay for it lol.

Cherokee Investment Partners (clue is in the name)

"The firm has nearly $2 billion under management and is currently investing its fourth fund."

If valid, it doesn't have $2Billion to invest in LENR - that $2Billion is money belonging to it's clients that is under management in existing projects.

    http://www.cherokeefund.com/company.htm

The company occupies a single suite in a small, 3 story, shared office buidling in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The telephone number for Industrial Heat LLC, 919-743-5727 is in the same suite at the address occupied by Cherokee Investment Partners and is the old number for the Cherokee Challenge, which promised to set up something like that for the winner.

    http://cherokeechallenge.com/

It looks like the old familiar tall tale to me? As usual with this one, I'll beleive it when I see it. If anyone is considering taking this seriously I would have a look at the addresses and occupants of the buildings of the various interested parties and people giving out news statements and draw your own conclusion ;)

  18. A short while ago the Chinese President, along with Tom Darden Chairman of Industrial Heat, who co-founded and is the CEO of Cherokee Investment Partners, a series of investment funds with links to Old East Coast Money, GE, Siemens, and Google among others, laid the foundation stone for an Industrial Heat factory that will be building Nickel Hydrogen generators in China.

    Kind Regards walker

    lol..

  19. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_experiment

@ Lenyoga, Interesting info, although it is now considered unethical and partially flawed, it does add something to the understanding of the phenomenon. Of note are the differing results when applied to different societies.

Looking at more modern studies - there is actually an OU course:

    The psychology of conspiracy theories

Put differently, it is not that ‘faulty reasoning’ causes people to endorse conspiracy-based explanations, but rather that something within those explanations, within their thematic configuration, narrative structure and explanatory logic, leads people to exhibit these seemingly ‘faulty’ patterns of thought.

    http://www.open.edu/openlearn/body-mind/psychology/psychological-studies/the-psychology-conspiracy-theories

Something to do with conformity and coercive persuasion perhaps? Does the belief in hoaxes and conspiracy theories spread like the proverbial social smoking habit?

  20. Dan;2605718']Obvious Walker bait is obvious.

But yes I would agree with mrcash2009 and say that people aren't just too lazy to get info from other sources' date=' but with the way the schooling system has been setup in the UK (I am only 21 btw so its not been that long for me), that you will be taught to the test and not really to learn around it/question it or even to ask why does this do this for example. [/quote']

Not particularly walker bait, he is just unfortunate enough to have provided the last classic example of many.

Certainly don't believe all you hear in school, simply because much is out of date or dumbed down to be appropriate for the age group (covalent bonding or enzyme action are good examples which confuse when studied at a higher level).

I was once in a biology class where we were told that all men have 1 less rib than women because of the creation of Eve! I took an old chest x-ray in the next week (even number of ribs clearly displayed) and was promptly given a detention, possibly for challenging someones faith?

If you ever have the opportunity to read the staff absence records in a school, take it! You may find funnies such as this:

    Absence:

    1 week (Self Certified)

1 week (Statement of Fitness for Work)

Reason: Infected second degree burns to the upper thigh and groin area.

Details: Attempted to iron trousers whilst wearing them.

There were some others equally worrying (multiple summons for DUI!) but that one was stored away for perpetuity. Some of them should not be allowed anywhere near children.

@mrcash - sound advice - ignored your bullshit. ;) But no, I wanted to discuss this as I am amazed at the hoaxes people fall for, year after year, after year. After all said hoaxes are exposed - they continue digging for the next hoax. Often on the very same conspiracy website. Why do they fall for / beleive everything they read? Search 'conspiracy theory' on this very website and you will see many familiar names going all the way back to the dawn of BI Forums on subjects such as "NASA accidentally nukes Jupiter" etc.
