    The new ARMA 3 DLC system - debate

    I think this is pretty much the same dilema as in Arma 2. Out of milion variants of Domination 2, in mission or server name used to be the information what assets the game use. This "advertisment" will be more-less neccesary now as well. But yea, this time it can be game-breaking, I see your point. (On the other hand, I wouldn't call it advertisment.)

    The new ARMA 3 DLC system - debate

    OK, I got it. I think it's about striking a balance of what's restricted and what is not. Restricting driving Karts in MP looks like very annoying thing to do, because then the Kart would be completely useless. Same applies in agressivenes of notifications. From what I saw - notifications in debriefing screen are completely acceptable for me. Popoup messages would be problematic. So, since I bought Karts, I only have info from the BI blog article, but how does restrictions really look if you don't have DLC, then?

    The new ARMA 3 DLC system - debate

    I think a lot of people are making some assumptions I don't quite understand. So let's take a loot at Helicopter DLC: Everyone will get: Firing from vehicles New helicopter handling (based on Take on Helicopters flight model) Every model in high quality Showcase of new helicopters (so player will be able to try that stuff before buying) Only DLC owners will get: DLC specific campaign/scenarios Unrestricted usage of new helicopters in each mode. So, what's the big deal? You will not be able to fly this helo with your friends, but you can still be either passenger, or fly different helo. I don't see real split of community here.

    The new ARMA 3 DLC system - debate

    BI introduced new system with which you don't agree... and instanly the studio is "another greedy company". Are you kidding? 1. Each DLC will enhance your game, no matters if you buy it or not. 2. Change from previous DLC policy just moved restriction from quality of assets to some functionality of DLC content. Question if this will cause real problems for non-DLC players is yet to be seen, and if this policy will not work, it doesn't mean it can't be changed. 3. It's up to mission designers to make MP content with consideration that some content is working for everyone and some can be handled by people with proper DLC, so their missions and game modes will not be paralyzed, if people doesn't have it. This is just whining, and quite insulting one.
  5. Hey guys, I will drop my two cents here, not about ending (enough was said about it), but about branching of the story (and sorry if someone covered this thing). The problem is that branches on the story are not made equal. One is clearly more interesting - it's clear choice: Find out more about all those thing going on - or don't. Second problem is that you need to decide immediately where to go. If you go for James, even without cutting your CO yelling at you over the radio, you can't turn back and join the attack - NATO is already hostile towards you. There is no second chance to return to NATO guys. No opportunity to explain your CO that you will be a minute late (because from James position it takes only so long to get to NATO), or - and this time intentionally, turning the radio down. So in the end, even if you weren't sure if you want to help Brits, you will slide down into that branch. And that is quite a pitty, IMO.
  6. Thanks. So I guess only thing to do is to wait until fixed.
  7. Hello guys, recently I came into problem with command mapGridPosition. It works perfectly when I'm checking other object like soldier, but when it checks backpack grid, I get weird numbers: Backpack is in grid 128 141, but mapGridPosition says that it is 254 283 Just for making sure, here is code I'm running: In init field of player: this addAction ["Weapon plans location", "backpackGrid.sqf"]; In backpackGrid.sqf _backpackGrid = mapGridPosition weapon_plans; hint format ["Weapon plans are at grid %1", _backpackGrid];
