After using both DayZ Commanders built in updater and also manually installing the patch from the official repository when I launch Arma 2, the display in the bottom right corner shows that I am running version 95248. SOLVED: I didn't have the option in DayZ Commander "Replace original Arma2OA files withe Beta so Steam works" checked. Checking that loaded the game right up
