Radeon HD 7970 - White Dots in trees - Catalyst Settings
MMrrTT replied to KAaskilde's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I've made some more screens with different settings - in every case I don't see much of white dots, but grass in grids and dots is not very nice. I've tried Scruffy's option in CCC, but got this result https://dl.dropbox.com/s/7jwre2azi3dq57b/ArmA2OA%2003-02-2013%200-19-43-83.png (2790 kB) very few white dots (the same as for the last time) and dotted and gridded grass/evergreen branches. I've noticed that the further if evergreen branch from the center of the screen the more dotted and gridded it become. Catalyst 13.2 beta 4, Asus 7950. -
Guys, what does this setting do GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000 and what is the best variant for i7 920 + AMD 7950.

I have 7950 and got the same issue. Randomly blinking white dots (which is not very annoying) on evergreens and dotted grass which freaks me out. http://clip2net.com/clip/m70200/1359140105-clip-545kb.jpg -
Mmm, if 7950 can't provide sufficent graphics power for Arma 2 then I don't know.

Thank you for reply.

Arma2/OA is a normal 32-bit application. It has the same limitations and if I modify the executable with well-known largeaddressaware patch it will use up to 3Gb, if I'm not mistaken.http://clip2net.com/clip/m70200/1358189612-clip-128kb.png (128 kB) Anyway I'm using game video recording software which injects into game process and when I use pre-record function it stores video data in the application's memory. So if Arma 2 uses about 600 Mb at start, about 800-1000 Mb after some time and I use pre-recording I may overlap even 3 Gb limit even if I pre-record in MJPEG.

If you have 32-bit computer, the computer cannot use more than 2^32 bytes (2 Gb) of RAM. If you have 64-bit computer, the computer cannot use more than 2^64 bytes (16 Eb) of RAM. If you install a 32-bit programm on a 64-it computer, the computer will use all the 16 Eb RAM, but the program won't be using more than 2Gb of RAM. It can use more up to 3 Gb (if I'm not mistaken) on 64-bit systems with PAE, AWE but the application should have largeaddressaware flag to be turned on, if I'm not mistaken. So, actually it's not the question of computer. It's the problem of application.

32-bit applications can't use more than 2 Gb or RAM. I think your 6-7 Gb are used as caches or something. And I need to force 32-bit Arma 2 OA application to use more.

Hello. Dear developers, I wonder if there is a 64, it version of .exe file or how can I force 32 bit application to use more than 2 Gb on my x64 Windows? Are you planning to make a 64 bit version?

Hello. I've got very strange-looking grass when I enable ATOC. The trees looks the same in some areas at some distances. Why the grass and trees are drawn with some dots? http://clip2net.com/clip/m70200/1358177622-clip-805kb.jpg (805 kB) http://clip2net.com/clip/m70200/1358177639-clip-758kb.jpg (758 kB) http://clip2net.com/clip/m70200/1358177526-clip-446kb.jpg (446 kB) http://clip2net.com/clip/m70200/1358177580-clip-414kb.jpg (414 kB)

Hello. I've upgraded to Windows 8 and installed Steam. All games, settings and previous Steam directory was saved before. Now I've checked hash for Arma 2, Arma 2: OA and Arma 2: PMC. I try to install the latest beta patch in order toplay DayZ, but I receive an error about wrong CD-key. I still can see my key in Steam, but it seems it doesn't write it to register. How can I fix it and install beta patch?
-
Hello. I've found AS50 in DayZ and I've to be good at shooting in order to survive. ;) Are there any expansions that can allow me to shoot at the shooting range to test zeroing, create mil-dot table and practice targeting with mil-dot scope of AS50? Could you please give me a link and short description?
-
That's the problem for me because the textures are not good. It's not pleasant.
-
The problem is why do they use those models? Why should use models from Arma II OA?
-
I think I got it. It's the "problem" of DayZ which uses these low-res textures and if I play original Arma II all textures would be good. Then it's strange that DayZ uses "free" textures from DLC instead of using full-size ones. Thank you. Offtop: Why do u use avatar from a CD called "Walruses"? ;)
