LEA - Loadout Editor for ArmA 3
BoogieManFL replied to major_shepard's topic in ARMA 3 - COMMUNITY MADE UTILITIES
Quite often, when I make changes to a profile and save them, once in game the changes are not reflected. I can add new profiles and they won't show up. Sometimes after several attempts at making small changes to the profiles and saving them again it will eventually show up in game. What am I doing wrong? For example, I forgot to add first aid kits to one loadout. I exited Arma3, loaded up LEA and added them. Saved it, then loaded Arma3. When I apply the loadout, the first aid kits are not there. -
Hi, great mod and we've been enjoying it immensely! But I have two issues. First, after moving the HQ APC to another location, any time I try to build a structure is says "Base area limit has been reached" and won't place. I sold all other structures and disbanded distant workers, but it didn't make any difference. I drove about 800 meters away and tried again, same thing.. Now we're stuck many hours into an Altis campaign with no structures and no idea what to do. I can see a limit to keep from spamming structures all over the place.. But now we have none, so the limit seems kind of weird? Maybe I could drive back to the area near where the first structure was built but it's so far out of the way it'll be terrible to be stuck there in a place as big as Altis and since all others structures are gone.. Is the parameter "Base Startup Limit" what I need to change? Will it make an AI army build structures all over the place or is it purely to prevent human abuse? EDIT: I changed the parameter to 20km and it still isn't working. The default was 15km. Where I was trying to set up was about 13.1km from where the HQ spawned on the map at the beginning of the game, which is in range of both the default setting and the newly increased one?? EDIT2: I drove the HQ way back less than 7km from where it started and I still can't build structures, and I know for sure this is a good deal closer than a barracks I had previously built. When I got back within 6km or so of the starting area to be able to build again. Some kind of bug? The next issue is every now and then, increasing in frequency and intensity the farther along the game is, even after restarts, the game will drop to extremely low FPS for anywhere from 8-30 seconds. It seems worse near the base/HQ APC. This occurs both if I am host and when I am not the host. Otherwise, I've gotten Arma3 to run quite well and my PC far exceeds the recommended specs. It gets down to single digit FPS at times and occurs even without any action for kilometers around, and only a few AI troops in the area. Seems to get better the farther from the HQ I get. Very strange. I should also report that I've been the commander each of these times.

Any way to have a subordinate have it's own subordinates under their command?
BoogieManFL posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hi there! I have a question for Arma 3 mission editing. Can I make an infantry squad (or any units really) that are together in a unit under the command of their squad leader, and then pick 1 or 2 of that squad leader's subordinates to themselves have a few subordinates under their command that aren't under the command of the top squad leader? Example of intended chain of command: ________________Squad Leader _____________________| Rifleman Machingunner Grenadier Team Leader Marksman ________________________________| ____________________________Medic Engineer Any help would be greatly appreciated. It seems like this should be possible but I can't figure it out. Thanks for reading. Had to add the lines since the forum ignored my spacing. -
PvPscene Tweaks: DisabledFriendlyFire Server Side Addon
BoogieManFL replied to .kju's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I know the thread isn't labeled for this mod, but the link from the mod I am posting about sent me here. I installed the mod from http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=16055 using the file "AIGunnerToUseAllWeapons_AI_C_PvPscene.7z" Upon loading the game it says that this needs the file "a_crane_02" ??? I'm using the Steam version, and the latest beta patch as of time of posting. I installed Arma 2, OA, CO, BAF, and PMC. Ran each individually afterwards, then installed mod into a @folder and added it to the beta launch shortcut. -
How do I get my vehicles to properly fight back?
BoogieManFL replied to BoogieManFL's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
That second one looks pretty good. I'm going to give it a go, thanks for taking the time to help me. It's greatly appreciated! EDIT: Upon launch it says it need "A_crane_02" ... How could an AI tweak possibly be reliant on what sounds like a map object? I am using the latest beta patch as well. EDIT2: I fixed the issue by using a launcher program and telling it to load Combined Operations instead of just Operation Arrowhead. -
So many mods for Arma have zero installation instructions. Being new to using mods with Arma, I naturally have no idea what to do. And I've found conflicting information. Some say just an @folder in the main directory, others say in the expansions folder. What do you do with this file? I'd love to check it out. The current AI is nearly hopeless at times.

How do I get my vehicles to properly fight back?
BoogieManFL posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
A routine problem I have in Arma 2, is my AI controlled vehicles/gunners very often do not properly engage enemies. From time to time they do very well, but most of the time they are really slow to react, if it at all. For example not 5 minutes ago, I loaded up an APC with 20 dudes. Was moving to take a town, I hear enemy APC left 500 meters. It's a BMP2. I say, target that APC. The turret swivels. Point at it, does nothing. (no manual fire) We start getting drilled. It shoots one grenade. Then we got shot again, boom, whole APC and team dead in the space of 6 seconds. Earlier, I was the in a tank. Going through Chernogorsk, we encounter another enemy tank. It comes around the corner exposing it's side. We saw them first. This time I am driving. I stop the tank. I wait. It slowly turns it's turret and blows us away. Our gun was pointing at it the whole time. The gunner had at least 8 seconds to toast it before it even was pointing at us. This occurs ALL the time. I've tried different commands like free to engage, open fire, etc. The ONLY way I can somewhat reliably function is if the tank has another human player, or if I'm the commander and put it on manual fire. However, this makes the MG gunner do nothing on his own so he can't react to approaching infantry. Infantry squads do pretty good, it's just AI vehicle mates. This is getting very frustrating. How can I fix this? -
How do I rotate objects in game (not in editor)
BoogieManFL posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I see I can buy defenses in game, such as barriers and MG nests, but after pressing damn near every key on my keyboard I can find no way to rotate them. How is this accomplished? -
Connecting Failed suddenly. Worked moments before.
BoogieManFL posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
We have Arma2 and Arma2 Operation Arrowhead through Steam. Tried with both Operation Arrowhead and Combined Operations So my bro and I were playing Super Powers for awhile against AI, and decided to restart after making some changes to the game (number of towns, etc). We were playing fine. Closed server, restarted, but now just get "Connecting Failed" over and over. We've both tried hosting, we both restarted our PCs, routers, and modems. We even tried both enabling DMZ on our routers to make sure there wasn't some miraculous port issue that somehow popped up mid game. No change. We've compared version numbers and are launching the same thing. I don't understand how we are playing fine, then suddenly it's impossible to connect to each other. Any suggestions? -
This also happened to me after first installing off Steam when I told it to launch Combined Operations first. I instead ran Operation Arrowhead from the list and it did the first time setup and such, after that Combined Operations worked fine. Not sure if this is of any help to you though. You might look into installing and using the latest beta patch.

Sound Issues (Crackling,distortion,static)
BoogieManFL replied to jinsi222's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hardware details would be useful, indeed. Something quick and easy to try, but the way to get it done may vary slightly depending on what version of Windows you have. Go to Control Panel and to Sound and right-click properties on the listed device that you get your sound through. Probably the top option "Speakers". Click on the "Advanced" tab and look for default format, any place where you can change the audio sampling rate. If it happens to be on 192000Hz that might be your issue. I'd suggest trying 24bit 92000Hz. If there is no change you can try 16bit 92000. Failing that, try the lowest and see if there is a change, but that shouldn't be necessary and I'd look for further fixes regardless. If that doesn't help, I'd uninstall your sound drivers and perhaps even uninstall the device through Device Manager and restart the computer. Wait awhile and let windows redetect and reinstall base windows drivers for your audio and try Arma then, if not then reinstall the latest sound drivers fresh. You should also ensure DirectX is updated. You should check out this link where some fixes have been described and see if they help you. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1090629 -
Harvest Red - Cooper's voice changes

It worked fine up until Mission 5. I made a short video that illustrates this issue quickly. 14 seconds 7.8MB WMV converted to MP4 by Photobucket, just click the image below. -
[Blue Screen] 55+ hours in, Arma II: OA starts causing crashes, no clear reason.
BoogieManFL replied to Surael's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Interesting discovery, it seems like that it's related to your mouse. I'd definitely uninstall and wipe any trace of your mouse (and maybe even keyboard to be thorough) and reinstall them fresh. If it still occurred the only thing I can think of put the mouse into a different USB port (on a completely different one if possible) if you haven't yet, or try with a different mouse. EDIT: I looked around a bit online and saw this problem linked to Wireless USB mice, especially on Dell or Laptop PCs. Most of these issues were resolved by rolling back mouse drivers through device manager. Also in reference to only certain games causing certain issues maybe it's just that Arma uses the mouse in a way that makes the problem appear, the way mouse information is transmitted. Something that is just different about how it communicates with it. I remember years ago I tried RAM in a PC that I suspected may not be fully compatible with the other sticks already present. I loaded up Duke Nukem 3D and got mild to moderate graphic distortions but it'd run. But when I loaded up StarCraft I think it was, it'd blue screen almost immediately. EDIT2: Oh, you might also try running with basic windows installed mouse drivers before you try manufacturer drivers/software and see if one works better than the other. -
Harvest Red - Cooper's voice changes
BoogieManFL replied to BoogieManFL's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Seems crazy that it's impossible to fix. I mean it works fine in the mission before it, something changes when that map loads. Surely the developer could fix something like this easily.. If the voices were more similar (I noticed the oddness when numbers and directions are mentioned but it's not THAT bad) but these are two COMPLETELY different voices.
