  1. I'm afraid I'm not in as dire straits as you are with that set up there but if a dev can chime in on removing the "reservation" limit on these keys it would be greatly appreciated. Or at least if someone here is knowledgeable, let me know if they're hard coded and I'm merely chasing a dream here with my inquiry.

  2. Would love to see the number keys (above QWERTY, not NUM Pad) available to remap in my control settings. The only possible way to bind them to any custom actions is by combination only (example: 2+1, must be pressed together) and that is ultimately not preferable, not to mention uncomfortable, for myself at least.

I understand the keys usually default and use the commands, but I navigate most of those via my scroll wheel and can rebind the rest to the NUM Pad (which I do not use for its default looking actions), which would be more suitable for myself anyway. With some of the addition mechanics that have gone into the game and the anticipation (albeit mighty early) for potential enhanced mods in the future - allowing one to completely remap the entire keyboard to his/her preference without some hard limitations would be so greatly appreciated.

Please, BI developers I implore you. Thanks.

  3. It's neither realistic to have restrictions. Having it in the game is better imo.

I'd feel slightly sad on the inside if they'd remove it. But the rest makes up for it a thousand times over anyhow.

The free aim/dead zone is still in there. It will be optional. That is detailed here: http://dslyecxi.com/arma3-alpha-controls/

"There are a few things that everyone should have standardized. For one, if you’re coming from an Arma or DayZ background, you are probably familiar with the concept of freeaim. This is where your weapon moves independent of the screen until it reaches an invisible boundary, at which point your view turns with it. The short version is that freeaim in Arma3 is one of the worst control decisions you can possibly make. It’s off by default – leave it there. Freeaim is a feature for those who are nostalgic about a time when the ArmA controls were just plain bad – leave it there, it’s the past. Let’s move on."

  4. Just forgot today, I disabled my current credit card (someone apparently made a fraudulent charge somehow) and I am now awaiting a new one, which won't arrive to well after the Alpha release on the 5th.

I'm just planning to buy the standard Alpha package (sorry, I'm poor), but now I assume I would have to buy a Steam Wallet card to be able to purchase this Tuesday. I should be fine with that, right? Sorry, just used to using my credit card when it comes to everything game related.

  5. Im almost certain it is beta patch and it has nothing to do with profile config files. And you dont have to do system restore reverting to fix it, just simply dont use beta patch. Seems like these LOD issues ( I think thats how you call them ) are happening on Chernarus for the most part, I still havent had an issue on non BIS island. Confirming blurry textures and glitches even on High graphical settings. Look at the image I posted in previous post. Its recorded on medium-high settings and it looks like I play on Low. Compare helicopter texture and terrain.

    Looking forward for a fix.

The system restore point I made was just a overtly compulsive precaution as I haven't dealt with beta patches before hand due to my relatively long absence from ArmA, so to me it could have been anything at one point. I just deleted the beta folder and all is well but I'm afraid this might just end up being the case again with the next beta patch that just released. I'm just going to have to test that out, follow up an actual report if it indeed does.

  6. This latest patch for some reasons have been giving me major issues with LOD and blurry textures. Fed up, I purged my PC of everything Arma 2 related the other night, even manually dug up everything related in my registry.

Cleanly re-installed Arma 2: CO and updated everything properly to 1.62, played for hours without issue. I set a system restore point for safety measures of reverting in the future and figuring out the origin of this problem through a process of elimination (figuring it must have been one of the mods I was using). I downloaded and install this patch via SixUpdater, jumped into a scenario and the annoying LOD/Blurry textures returned.

I'm not sure what is necessarily wrong, all the tried and trusted tweaks to ArmA 2 that has been around for ages won't help the issue. My only solution is to revert back to 1.62 (95248). Textures have been set to Normal, High, Very High and Video Memory at Default, still occurs when playing. As I haven't been much involved with the community and ArmA for quite some time, I apologize if this isn't the proper place to address the problem I'm having with this particular patch.

  7. It is, just finished tweaks for Resistance campaign. Its basically ready unless testers find something. I have heard the mod is going forward nicely too, I dont know the release dates, but things are coming. :)

Thanks for the reply. I've been away from the community for a while (even well before the infancy of my join date on the forums) and just recently gotten back into the swing of things. CWR² would be a wonderful start.

  8. Well, they´re correct. I play flashpoint a couple of times every month, and it -does- suck.

I myself am playing through ArmA: Cold War Assault (OFP:CWC) at the moment and I can't be bothered with opinions, because that is what they are - opinions, everyone has them, even good 'ol Ivan.

  9. Quite honestly I wouldn't jump the gun on upgrading specifically for ArmA 3 just yet.

    1. It is still quite awhile to go before any inkling of release. By the time it releases the current high-end stuff out there would be cheaper and newer hardware will be peaking.

    2. It would be better to gauge performance by testing out and running the Alpha to the highest degrees that we can depending on what is implemented. This would be a starting point much more preferable than basing on speculation and half-whims.

After that I can consider on upgrading, which I will for ArmA 3 (possibly switching out to Intel/Nvidia from a current mid/high AMD build).

  10. Well guys why don´t we just wait until the Alpha and provide feedback AFTER we have tested it?

Very true, but at least aesthetically one should be able to determine their concerns now being that it is a graphical cosmetic implementation. From what I've seen there was any tie to direction Ivan took that hit from, just random splatter. I probably wouldn't mind it so much if it were to incorporate the direction of damage and toned down away from the center of the screen.

Then again, I agree in that we will see what works once we all get hands on.

  11. you can always fuck the screen up with lots of blood, markers, nicks over head and make it all look crowded as hell, but what for?

    simple things work better

Agreed. The "Bloody screen" mechanic is a generic staple that needs to be done away with entirely.
