[SP] Lost v 4.0 - Like a mash-up of 'Dogs of War' and 'Manhattan' (without the bugs)!

Ohhhhhhh . . . *wriggles with excitement as DL completes* ADDIT*2: DERP!! Just noticed in the OP that this requires "CO" Given I'm still only using Arma2, that would certainly explain it now wouldn't it ;)- =-=-=-DISREGARD ORIGINAL ADDIT-=-=-=- ADDIT: Ah darn, seems like I'm missing something or else have it set up wrong. I use Kegetys Launcher, and have @markb50K_Lost set as an active mod. I set it up like this: Error: cannot play/edit because a file has been deleted camisc_e,MARKB50K_Lost C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\AddOns\@markb50k_Lost (did not include the other two for Chechen and Iran) I put all the mission .pbo files into the Mission folder, as (for example) C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\Missions\Lost_53\markb50k_Lost.Chernarus.pbo Can see all the missions listed when I start the Lost_53 Scenario, and it loads and starts to receive but then the Error window comes up. -

Yeah I'm sorting my way through that ~550 page thread for Benny Warfare edition ! :) Lots of info in there, and actually the advanced searchfunction works rather well. Came across this and I'm going through it to see if it helps with some of my problems: ftp://clan-gmc.de/pub/Games/ArmA2/Warfare%20BE%20Tutorial.pdf -

Oh yeah, that Benny Warfare thing is AWESOME! Exactly what I was looking for :) My only problems so far (apart from just not being very familiar with the high command menus): 1. Is the WF Menu the only place I can see the composition of my Teams? 2. Is it not possible to buy units and then manually transfer them into one of my subordinate teams? The manual for ArmA2 says something about the "Diary" having a tab for "Transfers" but I have not yet managed to find that sucker. -

Question about the stock ArmA2 "Campaigns" (Harvest Red and EW). Are the whole things as scripted as the first couple scenarios, or does it get more sandboxy as you progress? -

I would be interested in the main question you've asked here myself. I _think_ that they call those types of mission/scenarios "warfare" missions but not sure. Basically a mission where you start out with a foothold and then have to build up a base. Actually though, I found that the War Welcome was a bit too fast paced for my tastes. I did manage to win it, but it just seemed so frenetic and unrealistic. I thought that the "Campaigns" in the stock install would be more what I was looking for, but having played the first part of the campaign that seems too scripted. A true "campaign" -> something that is very sandbox, involves building up a presence on a map, and takes several days or weeks to culminate would be awesome. As far as how to install things, I myself downloaded a launcher. Check the link for the ArmaLauncher under "Option 3 : Modfolders + ArmAlauncher" at this FAQ on Installing Addons http://www.armaholic.com/plug.php?e=faq&q=18 -

Helicopter Transport Mission: How to Specify Dropoff Location?
anthropoid replied to anthropoid's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Weird. When you get into a land vehicle with an AI driver, and click on the map, he gets it no problem. But the choppa pilot seems to not get it. -
I've had the same problem with the Hummer and would like to know how much it can actually hold.

I have just barely finished it myself so I am no expert. My advice is to immediately once you exit the aircraft, switch to tactical view ENTER [NUM]. It is easier to soar toward the drop zone in that view. Don't open your chute until well under 400m altitude. Once you have your chute open, experiment with switching back to first person view and using the mouse as well as the keys to tilt your descent.

So the higher difficulties do NOT affect how effective/accurate/tough the opponent AI is relative to the human player in singleplayer? Thanks for the info :) -

Trouble getting my soldiers to follow orders
anthropoid replied to KenNitro's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I've heard about it for years, but just never felt like I had time to get into something that is so obviously complex. Here lately I've been kinda 'catchin' up' on older games that I've meant to play for a long time. What is the best thing to do with wounded troops in the "Warfare" missions? Disband them and buy new ones? Also, I can't seem to figure out how to replenish my troops ammo. After an engagement I brought them back to the base on Utes Island (this is the "War Welcome" Mission in the stock Arma2) but cannot find any option to replenish their ammo. Do I have to interact with each one of them and put the ammo in their slots manually? -

ADDIT: I finally figured out the answer to my question below. After the 'match' startsup the recruit soldiers function is found under the '0' key, and gear is purchased at the ammo crate immediately at the players location :) Wow, this seems to be a FANTASTIC mod! I've poked around setting up a game a couple times, and if I understand correctly you can basically create your own custom battles? I'm trying to set up a small battle 1 USMC group vs. 3 soviet groups. Two questions: 1) I don't see in the setup windows how to specify which soldiers are in each main group 2) Once the initial 90 seconds are over I'm not seeing how to use a barracks or anything to purchase units or weapons; is that what the 'starting money' is supposed to be for? My apologies if these are stupid questions, but I'm fairly new to the game. -

Just to let you know Orcinus; between Copy My Stance, and Twirl Hide, I would say that my AI teammates now behaves as I pretty much would hope/expect them to behave ! :) Thanks a lot for your help. -
Helicopter - Boot Camp Weirdity - Arma2 No Expansions
anthropoid posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Trying to take things slow with this game and really master it so when the time comes that I want to get into MP I'm reasonably competent. So after a few days of play, I've managed to finish all the vanilla Arma2 Boot Camp scenarios, _except_ the Helicopter. After many crashes, re-consultations of the Control Hotkeys, gentle experimentation, more crashes, etc., I FINALLY figured out that the "Q" key is both an ascend and an accelerate key, though how that works exactly I still haven't figured out. Doing the #1 task in the Helicopter Bootcap (Transport Troops) I was able to get up into the air and move over to the extraction spot where the Section of troops was to be picked up. After much more experimentation and few crashes, I have more or less figured out how to add the crafty use of the "Auto-Hover" function to my repertoire, get immediately over my target and lower my aircraft. Despite landing within 2m of the target spot on the LZ, not all the Section of troops gets into the chopper. After fidgeting around a bit, two of them I think boarded the chopper (at least they seemed to based on them running up to it and disappearing; I still cannot figure out how to check the list of passengers in my aircraft and don't see them when I look behind me). I set the thing on 4x time acceleration with my speakers loud enough to hear throughout the house, made myself a cup of coffee, fed my dogs, and left the chopper running sitting at the LZ for at least 15min in-game time. Still the rest of the section did not board the chopper. Surely this is not working as designed? Did BI actually intend for a novice player to sit there waiting for some AI troops to get on the chopper for longer than 15min!? Appreciate any clarification or suggestions. As a broader question: if anyone can suggest (a) mods that enhance friendly AI behavior that will work well with the stock missions; (b) good missions for a new player still playing on Recruit difficulty? -
Helicopter - Boot Camp Weirdity - Arma2 No Expansions
anthropoid replied to anthropoid's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Having installed Copy My Stance and Twirl Hide, I would say that my AI teammates now behave as I would expect :) Also I finally figured out that that laser thing is also a telescope and used the Close Air Strike to take out all the badbuys in Grishino, which was a nice development. This is I think the fifth stock Scenario "Village Sweep." Weird thing is, similar to the Helicopter tutorial, I've now finished the mission as far as I can tell (no more enemy troops left anywhere in the village and I suffered no casualties); but the mission is not finishing. Weird. Re: about the joystick. I actually have one that I have used in the past for some aircraft games! I will try that :) -

ai compilation AI Compilation List of Addons/Mods/Scripts & Misc
anthropoid replied to Gunter Severloh's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hi guys, I'm just getting into the Armaverse and have finished most of my Basic Training in Arma2 with no other expansion packs installed. I've installed CBA and CopyMyStance and Copy seems to be working fine. As a newcomer to the game(s) I have to say, they are beautiful and very realistic, with one exception: my AI teammates are morons: they often don't listen to orders or take forever to react; they charge at enemy defensive positions; they stand up to shoot when I've told them to lie down; they don't make use of cover, etc.. I suppose that is to be expected from a game that is maybe primarily intended for multiplayer? Part of the problem might be that I just don't know how to command them, but I think this is only a minor part of it, as the most egregiously stupid behavior is observed in those scenarios where I'm not the squad leader. The opponent AI seems a bit less stupid but maybe that is just my biased perspective. So is it safe to interpret from the emboldened part above that the AI in the campaigns was scripted to act like a moron? Any pointers on how to make the stock game scenarios and missions a bit less aggravating as a result of the silly teammate AI? Hope I don't sound like one of those noob gits who shows up on a forum and starts badmouthing a game. It is clearly a great game, and I reckon there are 'solutions' to the problems I've noted -- assuming it is not just me? -
Gibbet's Copy My Stance Version 4.0
anthropoid replied to Caxton Gibbet's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hey thanks for this mod :) Seems to work well on the fourth mission in Arma 2 vanilla, the 2nd episode with the USMC invading Chernarus or whatever. But it didn't really seem to work with the "Eye for an Eye" episode; the one with the partisans doing a night attack on a village. Possibly the units in that episode are special units or something? -

ADDIT: ah nvm ;) I installed one of the launcher apps and got it to recognize CBA. Thanks man, will check it out. Will have to get active on the mods site as so far I'm not having any luck getting the CBA or Gib mod to run. I've just been trying to get CBA installed, following the directions here http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=13628 My original path for my ArmA2 install is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" When I follow the directions to get CBA to run by editing it as follows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe-nosplash-mod=@CBA;CBA_v0-7-6" and then click OK, the shortcut properties window gives me an error saying that path above is invalid. Probably the directions were fine for pre Windows 7, but not okay for Windows 7 I'm guessing. -
