Free weekend gave me a chance to see the game since it was in beta. I own TrackIR and love ARMA 2, but I play in 3D with nvidia 3d vision and a helix 3d patch to fix your non-implementation of 3d in ARMA 2. ARMA 3 still has shaders that are the wrong depth and have bad textures. It's an easy fix to assign z-values to all the hud elements, reflections, skyboxes, and such. You should be doing this in every game you make, especially flight simulators. I decided not to purchase it, even at 50% off ($30).

Batman Arkham City and Tomb Raider are both DX11 and have excellent 3D support. You can even set the depth and convergence with sliders in the options. It has to be included by the developer though. There is no fixing bad shaders with Helix mod for DX11. It only works on DX9. Because 3D isn't currently supported in Arma III, I won't be buying it.

I won't be buying it. It has no 3D support. I simply won't play games that aren't in 3D. I don't need to. I have tons of great games that support it. ARMA II, because it was in DX9, could be made to work passably well in 3D but this game, because it's DX11, has to have the support built into it like Tomb Raider and Batman Arkham City (excellent games in DX11 with 3D). So sad too. I own a TrackIR was dying to fly through the valleys, cutting the enemy down. -
Same here. I play the hell out of Left 4 Dead 2 because it's 3D support is so sweet. The aiming reticle is dynamic and switches its depth based upon what's in front of it. It's not difficult at all to ensure 3D works properly in your game. The people at nVidia and especially the Helix 3D fix guys can help. I, for one, will not be buying ARMA III unless 3D is excellent. I have enough games with lousy support which I don't play, inluding ARMA II. COD's support is better so I play it instead. With BIS's TrackIR support, the inclusion of 3D is a no-brainer. The same people who own TrackIRs also own 3D glasses (like me). 3D Musts: ensure the HUD is at proper depth and adjusts if needed, dynamic reticle (laser pointer), proper depth & convergence while scoped, player markers and map markers must have their own depth (not generic HUD depth), test with the 3D community by providing game copies to Helix (nVidia isn't good at all at rating 3D even though it's their glasses that I use).

There was a dead thread with the same name from January 2012. It didn't turn up in your forum search. I only found it using Google. It has same unresolved issues but the posters didn't offer any solutions, just griped (rightfully so). I have a solution that BIS might use because it's easy and they don't see that 3D users are their future base. They think there aren't enough of us to pay for the time it will take to fix a little problem (there are now that the monitors have come down in price). I can't believe you guys would give TrackIR more attention by allowing it to interface with the camera angles and won't fix the shader problems for 3D. The solution is below but you must all first listen to my rant because I'm so damn tired of hearing that a title supports 3D and inevitably it's an EPIC FAIL. And assign the same guy to fix the same problems in all your games. I use 3D Vision and TrackIR 5 in my simulators. I have two GTX 580s. I'm not going to turn off shadows and can't put up with an interface at the wrong depth (your interface seems to be okay because it's 2D which renders at my monitors depth which is in front of the distant scenery). 3D isn't going to die out. It adds tremendous immersion to the games/simulators and the equipment is affordable now. The Asus VG236H 23" 2ms 1920x1080 with nVidia 3D Vision glasses is $350. I don't play anything that doesn't support 3D fully now am sad to say that 3D doesn't work in Arma 2. Your program has the same problem as many I've played/owned (i.e. X3 Terran Conflict, Skyrim, Lunar Flight,...). These games went from unplayable in 3D to fully rendered correctly using Helix's DX9 hook. In Arma 2, the shadows don't render at the correct depth, the iron sights are off, and if I remember correctly, the fire, explosions, and water reflections are off. The elegant fix for these problems is to crack open the source code and redo it, but a fine work-around for most games is the d3d9.dll hook created by Helix. This hook must be on the allowed list for anti-cheat purposes, otherwise you will be marked as a cheater. Helix Mod 3D Fixes forum (many games already supported) helixmod dot wikispot dot org slash FAQ ('Cause you dimwits won't allow me to post a URL even though I jumped through 28 hoops to post in your forum... My God!) He gives instructions on using his dll to fix the 3D problems via shader overrides if he's not interested in doing the game himself (how to make your own fixes tab at top of page). Read the instructions at Game Grade 3D for good examples of what to look for. I commonly find skyboxes and distant mountains (often done as a single image) rendered at wrong depth, water reflection messed up, and shadow depth incorrect. All of which can be fixed using Helix Mod. Skyrim is a great example of those common problems that when fixed, made the game go from unplayable to AWESOME! I would have purchased Take On: Helicopters today but it's based on the ARMA 2 engine. It therefore stands to reason that it won't work with 3D Vision either.
