    Hi, welcome here 😎

Most of the issues you will get while playing Arma3 in MP are related to the server you are playing on (hosting/management/mods) and to your DSL connection.

Nevertheless I would like to be sure that the entire configuration of the PC has been upgraded with 16 GB of RAM and SSD to accommodate the OS and Arma3.

I will strongly suggest you to have a look on discussions on the Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications? thread.

How does the internet connection affect the fps?

I am very sorry for what is happening, I have always had faith in the Bohemia Interctive team, it seems strange that they have not yet identified the problem and fixed with an update. We realize that the game has become not playable even with the most powerful graphics cards, it would be nice if someone answered the BI team to discussion and give us some more precise information. Thank you

    You mean CPU, right?

Guys i finally found good and working solution (at least for me) - disable all maxmems, cpu counts, leave only hyperthreading checked (if your CPU can use it). I had 15 fps Boost, just like game have been unlocked somehow.

Could you show actual benchmark that this i what caused it? Also what mission, players,  etc etc. I have some doubts that it's actually the disabling of those commands that made you gained it.

  4. Exacly, i writed about it on general discussion thread, and all just hated me, i hate this fanboy defending. They cant accept the fact this game runs unacceptable? 17-20FPS on 1300$ PC? Is this some joke? I tried every trick i knew, while i was sitting on i5 and was reading about i7 and windows 10, none of those trick works.

Well, to be honest, what else to expect on their official forum? This is the place where most fanbois/performance-problem-deniers (etc etc..) hold up.

Go to other forums and you will see a completely different tone.

  5. I'm no shill - I have x3 more games than you in my Steam Library ;)

Also I justify my comments because:

    a. A3 tries to do stuff no other game does (12km draw distance?). That comes at a price. In an ideal world that price would be free. But in the real-world simulators/sandbox often require lots of horsepower, e.g. DCS, Total War series, Witcher 3, Company of Heroes 2, Project Cars, Crysis 3, Just Cause 3, Metro Last Light Redux, etc.

    b. benchmarks indicate that a good ($1000) PC can run A3 fine (60+ fps at 1080p)

    c. I work in software development and so appreciate the conflicting interests of fixing old stuff (QA) vs developing new stuff (sales)

And who plays Arma 3 with 12 km view distance?

How come even the missions developed by BIS runs like shit with many people on them?  The fact that they even market that you can play with over 60 people on servers is amazing. Everyone knows it will run like shit.

Also, that benchmark is in singleplayer? To be honest it doesn't say shit. 60 fps in SP with what? 0 AI on a empty map?

Most people here has problem with MP performance.

"Guys, let me assure you - we're not even remotely thinking of something that could be described as Arma 4. Arma 3 is here to stay for quite some time, with continuous support. "

We can start making assumptions when we are actually close to it, cause the first post is just a compilation of your biased dreams and is very unrealistic.

Ohwell, digging their own grave imo.

Yeah let's throw even more stuff into the game so it gets even shittier performance.

  7. with increased view distance the game has to use alot of drawcalls (or sections as it's called in Arma), which requires the CPU to process it and then send it to the GPU - meaning that your GPU is mostly just bored and waits for your cpu to finish.

That would mean without AI and scripts you would have perfect fps - which isnt the case. It can be a big factor yes, but graphics also require a good chunk particulary on high draw distance.

Few people in modding know how to optimize their models properly - that's why they often have high impact on performance.

    EDIT - nvm read wrong

  8. Are you from KGB, CIA or what? Cant you read or search in google? "read OFFICIAL warning on GPU,CPU wrapping, CPU,GPU softwares etc."

Yes, i am very aware how to search or read google. That link only gives me result of people stating that they got better fps when they overclocked.

And i don't even know what you are trying to say with that russian/whatever piece. That you may damage the cpu if you overclock over the official parameters. Well, no shit? And how again does this backup your statement that overclocking cpu/gpu wont help performance wise?

  9. I readed it on 10+ forums -  around 20 peoples with same problem on every single thread. That mean something. Thats why i used link to google search. Thats obvious. Overclocking is helping in SOME cases, but read OFFICIAL warning on GPU,CPU wrapping, CPU,GPU softwares etc.

Sigh. Can you provide any actual benchmark of this?

  10. Source :

For me reinstalling windows helped but read it again - I DONT KNOW WHAT ACTUALLY WORKED HERE. For me and 6 people from Multiplayer session it helped. But it was after one of us done this trick. Remember, reinstalling windows also clearing registry, cleaning HDD, deleting all malwares/viruses/ restrore all to default values etc. I had personally overclocked GPU and had lower FPS than before OC, i restored default GPU state and problem was still present - so i decided i have nothing to loose - reinstalled system and it worked. After last update my FPS is little lower but still acceptable. 25 WAS LOWEST VALUE - read post with understanding ok? Now lowest value is around 17 FPS when there are lot of wrecks smoke and other particle effects

That's your source? A link to a google search... wow.

And i see multiple post that says that it increased their fps by overclocking.

  11. There is no game engine that uses more than 4 cores and all games based on DirectX 11 are stuck at one core, that's a DX11 limitation. Also for Intel users with HyperThreaded CPUs I can assure that they perform better with every game having HT disabled.

The issue with AMD "8 cores" is that they are really weak.

You earlier said that TS got bad fps because of that the cpu has 4 cores instead of 8. And now you are stating that no game can even use more than 4 cores.

  12. Nope, it would be only lag. The communication that effects the fps is strictly on how much the server loads onto the client to process. The server can easily send you data telling the client were the 100+ tanks are on the map. That doesn't mean your computer would appreciate rendering all of that.

Join whatever coop server with 40+ players on, and be positioned at some place where no units can be seen. Your performance will still be bad. Why would telling the client that it exist 100 tanks on a server affect pefromance that much, if they aren't rendered?

  13. I dont play multi often, but if i play i have 25-60 FPS but with 20 - 30 players max - never played with more people.

Well, reinstalling windows helped on my end a lot, i dont know what actually worked here - maybe i skipped some windows update after system reinstall (installed 100 updates, reset, checking effects, so the game FPS isnt too low, then another 100 updates and again check) i installed all necessary updates, not single optional , deleted updates to win 10 (this small icon next to the clock), did not installed Flashplayer, all microsoft visual C++ are the only i installed with arma 3, i instantly uninstalling libraries installed with other games. Only gaming platform installed on my PC is Steam and Rockstar Games Social Club (cannot use it other than updating GTA V). hmmm, what more..... updated drivers (newest AMD gived me 30% boost) and thats all.

Why not to overclock? Tests made on GTA V answered this - overclocking helping with games, that optimialisation is fully finished. Now take in account, Arma 3 optimalisation engine is done 4 or more years back, people wasnt overclocking CPU back then so often. Maybe someone overclocking CPU will help, but on latest games i dont see this is helping. Off course there are occasional CPU's that this method is working, but if some guy have 3.Ghz and game is runing at 20 FPS and he overclock to 3.5 GHZ and ge will still have 20 FPS (maybe even 19) its not fault of his hardware, but game optimalisation. Game engine is just not fully supporting parts of his PC and overclocking will not change anything.

Keep that in mind, my PC is not super powered machine and also not the slowest one. Like it or not, my PC is getting old, and games (other than arma) was, and still are runing on max settings. Arma 3 begin to run smooth after last 3 or 4 update

Well, still. 25 fps is not "fine" for most I'm sure of. It's jsut that we have accepted the state of the game.

This "fix" by reinstalling windows wont work for most of the people. Surely you had something else on the computer maybe, Did you actualy see a fps increase after the reinstallation on windows?

Tests made on GTA V answered this - overclocking helping with games, that optimialisation is fully finished

    source please?

  14. 15 FPS i had when 6 vehicles explode in same time, larger firefights, and jets all over the sky. I had problems with FPS as well, but reinstalling windows with arma resolved issue for me. Also do not overclock anything CPU related - game have problems with that

So tell us your what fps you usually have, in multiplayer ofcourse, with 40+ ppl and what mission.

Reinstalling windows will barely help for anyone. Placebo effect if something.

    Why not overclock CPU?

  15. Considering how bad a lot, if not most, of the servers run, it would mean they all run under 5fps. :P

    So it seems  :P

No but seriously, i doubt it. From what i hear server usually have around 20 fps.

On the side note, it's intressting to see that barely anyone seems to know why it is like this. Or maybe the ones who knows don't want to say anything

  16. When you join a server, think of the client as a blank slate with a empty map. Then the server communicates with the client and begins to tell it what to load. This can be units, that random rifle laying on the ground in the middle of the field, ect. On top of that certain scripts can also be dumped onto the player, such as revive scripts and such that require checking the client for conditions.

Again not a technical person on how the client and servers interact, but that is just my guess.

And how does this communication between the client and server affect the fps on the client?

Let's say a server running without any mods. Just because the server is slow to send data to the client, that shouldn't affect the client fps?

  17. I read Dwarden answer

server FPS is irrelevant to your client FPS unless it's too low (under 5fps) ...

So now the server fps barely matters for client fps? How often does a server, with let's say 50 people joined, go below 5 fps?

Also, regarding te post from fred41

It no news that more objects will decrease the client performance. The question is why the server fps decreases it.

  18. It seems to be impossible to find a answer on why/how the server fps (tps) affect the clients. Anyone that knows who could give a technicall view on it?

If a server has bad performance, wouldn't that only affect the clients by network lag? Since that's what the arma 3 server do: update the clients with where objects are, what is happening etc.

I could be wrong since i'm not into game development.
