  1. hey cool :D ! wow ... what shall i say :)) now i have done more or less all what is said in the mondkalbs tutorial and i realy got a more or less working map :D i have not done all what he said ... i have no buildings on the map and no forest or similar ... also my texture is very unique ... i have grass in the water :)) ... it looks cool haha :)) at the moment i guess that i will be able to fix most issues :D just two things first i had problems to load the map ... the game did crash wehn i did try to play on the map in mondkalbs tutorial is a config.cpp with the following two lines worldName = "\TUT_IslandName\IslandName.wrp"; pictureShot = "\TUT_IslandName\TUT_IslandName_pic_ca.paa"; which i did replace with worldName = "TUT_IslandName\IslandName.wrp"; pictureShot = ""; so i dont have a picture shot and after removing of the leading backslash the map did load without crash but still if i load the map in the editor it tells me more or less something like bin\config.bin/cfgworlds outsideterra no entry in.terrainsynth i have a idea what it could be but am not very sure mondkalb said that i shall do the satmap 10px biger and that i should remove the 10px later ... but he never said when to remove them ... so i never removed them ... maybe thats now the outsideterra and maybe some *.pew data is missing for this 10px since all that belongs to the install seems to work now i will restart with a new map from scratch maybe i will overcome this error too and maybe i will try now to place roads and buildings to and do a better texture ... but the grass in the water is awesome ... it looks like the waterplants in my virtual aquarium :))

  4. still i dont have my map ... but i am maybe a step closer :) there was this binMakeRules.txt file in my tools directory ... in it were some path settings pointing to this mysterious BXBX folder ... i did correct them all manualy and since then the setup seems to work... now buldozer seems to do all automaticaly ... what ever he is doing ;)) for new people it is hard to find the right entrypoint ... there are many tutorials, some are not up to date but they explain a lot, others are up to date and explain not so much (maybe because the autor thinks that his reades already know the older outdated tutorials) and then there are different ways of doing maps ... some start with this others with that, some have a good folder setup others have a simple folder setup...... and some how it is geting difficult to find the right way even when it comes to the setup of the BIS tools ... some say just install it, others say make a own o:\ partition (or virtual drive), some say use arma2p.cmd to setup every thing automaticaly but again others say no dont use arma2p.cmd because it fails there should be maybe something like a own up to date wiki only for map creating ;) this folder did never exist and also no such user account or any thing ... the only file with bxbx was this binMakeRules filei guess something with the setup whent wrong maybe the setup was not able to write the correct path into the file .. or what ever could happened? yes i know ;D i knew you will suggest that too ;)) haha until now nothing was ever plug and play with arma ... until i found this six-addon-updater and this armaII-launcher and so on was a long time :)) ... ... or i will come back and ask ;) thanks :D .. we will see ;)i will give a other try now ;) following some more tutorials... i will take a look at what you have pointet me to :D thanks :D

  6. what was the solution ... i am facing the same error after following the tutorial @ http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Mondkalb's_Terrain_Tutorialand after two weeks it is geting borring i think i did all what i have read any where ... i did setup my O:\ drive with tools and i did setup my P:\ drive with buldozer and so on i did folders with name tag ... and also without name tag i did extract arma2oa.exe and rename it to buldozer.exe as also languagecore core ca bin and even product.bin from the 1.6 update after much woerse problems with the original BIS_Tools setup (as described here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?114751-Buldozer-crash-with-Arma2P-setup-and-OA1-54-exe&p=1856956&viewfull=1#post1856956) i did try arma2p.bat/cmd to setup my p:\ drive what did end with nothing! (no fail message no success message ... just a window that appears and close later ... even if i run it from CMD) i did read all configs and and and if i just run buldozer he starts up with no error (buldozer.exe -buldozer) i also can use this l3dt tool and import everything correctly in visor3 ... i also did import satmap and layer.cfg and the mask without problem but when i start buldozer a dos box appears ... and tells me 100 times "C:\Documents and Settings\bxbx\Desktop\Tools\BinMake\BinMake\Pal2PacE\Pal2PacE.e xe returned error 22: Invalid argument" i dont know this path on my PC with win 7 ... i know O:\Bohemia Interactive\Tools\TexView 2\Pal2PacE.exe .... where can i change this path i dont find bxbx in any *.cfg or in the registry or any where ... is this path in the *.exe (visor or buldozer) or where? i guess thats the problem but maybe not or not only i only like to create a map .. maybe later more ... but i feel like giving up soon (in SWAT i can do a map in less then one day including the tool setup) ... maybe someone can share a working P:\ drive with a ready to go test map where no editing is needed ... only to see it it would theoreticaly work a map that i can just load in visor and run with buldozer with out editing or *cfg or importing this and that ... just a test map to click and go it would be very kind! EDIT: OK now i found a file on my O:\ drive where i have installed the BIS tools O:\Bohemia Interactive\Tools\BinMake\binMakeRules.txt i did edit the file and had to correct the pathes of all tools so that they point at my installation at O:\*\*.exe i mean every tool path had to be manualy fixed since that the "C:\Documents and Settings\bxbx\Desktop\Tools\BinMake\BinMake\Pal2PacE\Pal2PacE.exe returned error 22: Invalid argument" error did disappear ! now still something seems to be not OK after converting there was still a missing file message ... but this was now in buldozer and not in the previous CMD window also the map did now appear ... but it did look somehow not right ... it was one long streched green kind of island but i get new hope now ... maybe i can now restart some tutorial and maybe i will get my own map in the next 100 years (depends on the next 1001 errors which i will get)

  8. hi i would like to make my own map in arma i did download the newest BIS tools from the BIS wiki site i did install them on a seperate drive O:\* i did a P:\ drive with arma2oa.exe which i renamed into buldozer.exe then i did unpack my bin.pbo core.pbo languagecore.pbo and ca.pbo and did move them on the root of P:\ then i did a map and all whent well until i did conect to buldozer ... buldozer was telling me that he dont find the paa's (i thoght he will convert png's or tga's automaticaly) so i did convert all pictures manualy then i got a "regular.recoilcoef" error ... but the pictures were (maybe) ok then i thoght that i am smart :)) ... i did download the update 1.6 and i did unpack it with 7z ... i whent to the folder "\ALL" and i unpacked the bin.pbo and core and languagecore and ca ... and did replace the old folders on P:\ with the new stuff from the update1.6\all\ i have also taken the arma2oa.exe from the unpacked update and did move it to P:\buldozer.exe now if i conect to buldozer a CMD window opens telling me something about error 22 (i guess this is because he cant convert pictures vrom png to paa) and then it crashes ... windows tells me to close buldozer or debug it now after a week .... A WEEK of truble, trying and retrying ... just one simple question... how do i manualy setup my P:\ drive? from where do i take bin.pbo ca.pbo languagecore.pbo core.pbo and buldozer.exe/arma2oa.exe and which files do i have to edit manualy in which way? i special ask to setup all manualy! because its interesting me and because arma2p.cmd did fail always is it possible to use arma2oa.exe/1.6 as buldozer or do i have to take a older version? is there someone with a working p:\ setup and can maybe post a folder listing and tell me from where the content comes and what he has edited to make it run it would be very kind :D thanks in advance ;)

    Left Hand Player (F/M)

    yes i also think this is not done in short but there are many requests for left hand characters in arma ... even in this forum bis should maybe reThink about theyr character model for any version in future ... it seems not to be flexible enough to change it in two minutes or with one click in the options =( i did read now also a lot about why no one is willing to support left hand people "in reality the shells burn your face", "in the army we did learn to shoot with right hand", "left hand weapons exist but only for private people", ... ... so i am not in the army i can hold my gun as i like between me and the virual world is a screen so i dont fear the hot shells and in the virtual world i am virtualy a rich despote of the axis of evil i can virtualy buy millions of left hand weapons for my left hand army :)) (at this point the difference between virtual and real world realy hurts) so please i hope the god BIS of virtual world hears me and all others who ask for left hand look and feel in arma maybe to tell more about this weapon shell and right hand shoot drill in the real world it is clear that the army only buys one weapon model and not one for left and one for right, let us say it is so ... maybe not clear to but i accept that and logicaly all get forced to shoot on the right side because of that so if you are in the army and you have a riffle you shoot with the right side ... because they cant afford left hand weapons ... and so the shells would burn your eye but in the other hand ... in reality i would throw a grenade with the left hand ... and also in reality no one would force me to throw it with the right hand ... or at least no one who like to life long time :)) so maybe you see this point too... in virtual world shells dont burn in virtual world we can afford left hand weapons as much as we like and dropp ever 5 minutes a nuke whyle we eat popcorn and watch TV and the virtual world dont looks very real to me if this guy throws grenades with his right hand all the time ... thats not my player ... i feel as i would look through the eyes of my enemy :o so please and hopefully BIS will hear us and get theyr characters more flexible.. i also like to feel me as player as every right handed player does

    Left-handed player models

    give us left hand players in arma ... please .... i dont care what you have done in iraq or where the shells come out of the gun i just like to feel me inside of my player on my PC .... i dont fear the hot shells ... i have a good screen between me and the virtual reality ... and i dont throw grenades with the right hand ... even not at a parade ... so just pleas one thing ... give us left hand players (i cant see it any more how this guy who should be me in the PC holds his rifle all the time in the right hand... and mostly i hate if he throws grenades with the right hand ... i ask my self all the time is this my player or my enemy ... damn!)

    i would like lefthand players and maybe weapons in arma 2 too! who to hell throws a grenade with the right hand? ;/ :))
  12. i whish a character addon the player it self should be left handed holding the gun in the left hand holding the rifle in the left hand throwing grenades with the left hand lunch stuff on the left side basicaly all the same as a original player but every action mirrored to the left side this should work specialy in the players view but maybe if possible also in camera view (in videos sequences) enemies and the rest of the team can still be right handed (as in real life) if it is possible a option in the settings menu would be cool ... to switch from right to left handed player if it works with all characters it would be the ultimate dream that comes true if it is not possible for all characters then i would also welcome just one single character ... how ever he looks like as long he is lefthanded ;) and because i know females who are also lefthand players i have also to ask for a female left-hand character in the game so at least a male guy and a male girl who are blowing up the world with theyr left hand please! ... thanks in advance :)

    i would highly welcome a left handed player in the game! one that holds the gun all the time in the left hand one that throws grenades with the left hand basicaly the same as a normal player but all actions mirrored to the left side and because i know also left handed girls who play arma i also have to ask for a left hand female player at least a lefthanded guy and a lefthanded girl should be added! better would be if we get a point in the options where we can set all characters who are playable to left or right handed this should only affect the player it self! (because as in real life most enemies are still right handed) :)) this possibility should get implemented into all games that exist! or at least in arma ;) until some Left-Hand fix comes out (maybe with the next update) i am open for any thing that fixes this problem! point me at any addon/mod or just tell me where to edit what and how! every suggestion is wellcome! thanks in advance :)
  14. hi sorry to disturb you with my problems... in Arma 2 i get a red screen when i die and switch team i play single player mission then i die then i switch team then i see quickly something and then the screen turns into dark red ... they new player where i switch in is still alive but i only see dark red if i restart the mission all is good again it happens often ... but some times not (i dont know why!) i play on laptop samsung intel core i5 windows 7, there is a sticker on it "nvidia optimus" (what ever it means) nvidia infos tell me the following (i did try to translate it into english i hope you know what it means) i did apply the game patch 1.60 and i did also try the last beta version ARMA2_OA_Build_91138 i also found a similar bugreport at dev-heaven.net #3416 (sorry i cant post links in this forum because what ever) what can i do now to fix this bug? please fix it in a new update soon because its realy anoying if it happens and sorry because my bad english i try the best and maybe you can answer me in simple language :)
