One has to know that he must update the game again when installing a DLC: It would be wise to give the buyer that knowledge when he buys a DLC (maybe in the shop, or as an EMail or as a sticky or sth.)     Is there already something out about how to report bugs / errors we find in the alpha? (A dev forum / a Bug Button in the game or like rules about how to describe how to recreate errors etc Needing of screens or videos, logfiles?); Or a specific Hardware required for testing (dunno if the devs want to concentrate on a specific hardware, could be?). Our what languages should beta reports written in? Anything alpha / beta testing related..

    1) you get used to them soon... it takes a few hours though. just dont be so trigger happy, watch, watch wtach, check minimap, watch, check minimap again, if in this area no friend shoot everything on sight.. 2) STRG + M

    hmm cannot realize this. apart at 60 fps it moves so much nicer... More frames, more explosion frames, more everything Maybe the wrong forum, but a quick answer maybe? What can I improve to gain more frames? Is it CPU or VGA

    Hi guys, this is no rocket science is it? how does a real gun sound really? I dont have any.. but how can recordings be so different from each other? is it more like A or like B? edit: both recordings are from an AK74 -- why not just make 2 recordings of every gun: one in plain field and one in a city / between buildings. And then blend these sounds according to the ingame map.. examples: range from: 0: only plain field sound to 1: city sound so 0.3 for the side of a village or 0.9 running to a street in the city or so? (just mix the volume of each sound accordingly..) -- I mean gunning around in games is going on for years and years, cant be rocket science to improve it finally, can it? -- edit here is what I mean, all I needed was 2 Gunsounds and a cheap Reverb Effect and 10 minutes of my time fiddling with this shitty movie maker in Windows and searching for nice pics.. really.. This is just my imagination How it could sound mainly, dont know how it really sounds, there fore this thread and so on.. this is utterly important for the immersion, how can this not be in any game since 20 years? what is so rocket science about this? I admit I come from the sound department, pretty much knowledge there, but zero Knowledge in Game programming and Military Ops - just wondering what the big rocket science could be.. -- and the real worst of all is, when I hear the sound is cuttet in Games, when they dont let the whole reverb in the file.. so wehn firing a gun there is a sudden stop after a second.. *shaking* thats so bad...

    when I were a Spy from outer space with the mission to rescue earth from hordes of futuristic mega aliens, okay then I would bother to not give such tiny information away (but then I would hide under the earth where I cannot reflect light, I would try not to breathe and to think as it changed microwaves around me.. huh). But hey.. they know only that a serial number has a char named blabla123 and is joining this and this server... nothing is linked with my digital "me" aka E-Mails or whatever... they can trace back the serial maybe to a country, maybe to a local store, and really maybe to time, and then they could check their videos (if they save them years), and THEN they can maybeee see a picture of me.. and then? end of story.. why would they do this? Not even wanted criminals are paranoid like this ;) like seany said, just play the game.. your are fighting windmills here. I respect paranoia. And this brainfunction you can bring to good use in DayZ Mod aswell. Mayybee you should your Herbal not influence you so much heh e

    And I can recommend the Warfare Servers. You have your own AI if you like. They fight for you pilot and drive vehicles etc. You can do your own thing: capture towns, and you can do it with other peoples. Defend the base, search for the enemy base.. plenty of choices to make really... very good. You can even build a complete camp with defenses, stationary MG's walls, etc etc absolutely crazy. I think this mode is very mega good. it is this everyone wanted Battlefield 3 to be.. It is like 200 lightyears ahead. Once you get a hold of it you will understand. Of course there are crowded and not so crowded server. And some commanders are good and give good commands, others do their thing.. You will find out soon. ;) But best thing is to join a clan with ACE.

    I think you are a bit too far. They need the char info about where you spawn, what stuff you have etc. It is a persistent World / Char. Have you even played the game? they can surely release the server software, but think again. People should have then 2 Servers running and their clients for the game. thats too much. It is a nice gift of them that they release a lite version and not a withhold of data.. what data? what weapon your char uses at the moment, okay this will make a super interesting facebook page then: a lot of herbal123 guys with the Info that they have winchester and are located at 036587?! cmon -- regarding the second question yes, he is "deaf dumb blind" if you say so. But I would prefer the term ignorant. Not everyone knows anything. And with SixLauncher its much more easy to install dayz and join a server: http://www.six-updater.net/2012/05/all-new-six-launcher-click-and-play.html -- dayz is just a normal mod, but with a persistent world that is not saved on the hosting game server but on a master server. So you can log on any game server and still have your equipment. And it is perma death. So when your char dies you start all over. You cannot join another server where you maybe had some weapon and have a char for every server, no they made it super professional - which only works with a master server collecting and saving and serving all the data.. that is just the techniq there is no other way to do it.. (maybe theoretically with clouds and bubbles and stuff -|- a "torrentish way to do it" -|-; but im sure you didnt mean this).

    is there a solution. In ArmA II - OA I dont have this problems. But in Iron Front I have to battle against the ugly textures coming in over time. The Graphic looks so nice when sharp and hi res, It is so sad that it doesnt work - and I have plenty of memory on my VGA and on my RAM. I think that this effect gets more and more over time. In the beginning all looks nice, but then when walking around it loads new textures and the older ones get more blurry and more low res. I set -maxmem and -maxvram and high priority of the IF Task in Windows. This is a little bit an immersion breaker. Yes I admit I like the good textures much! ;) playing with the low res only isnt so much fun for me. in the beginning all looks nice and good, in the end more and more low res.

    at least DayZ is only so good because of the big map, the realistic overall feel of everything. And that clearly comes off the ArmA II masterpiece. DayZ couldnt be successfull as a mod on any other game I suppose!

    SOftware can render this automatically. I saw SW demos where a sound source was hidden in a labyrinth. The surfaces reflectet the sound different. You could locate the sound source by only navigating with ears (stereo of course). That made me thinking. Of course it wasnt perfect, but no one wants sth. perfect.     what the guy with reverberation meant is reflection. And you hear this everywhere but in space. The wiki article is too unprecise. Coming from the music scene too I understand what he means. Reverberation or better lets call it reflection can be very subtle and depends heavily on surfaces. Normal people maybe think he meant a big not subtle reverb effect on every gun, he clearly doesnt mean this - just we guys from the music biz call this stuff reverb because that is what it is. ALso our own faces / head reflects the sound so it is impossible to hear a sound that is not reverbed. (There could be a way including brain surgery and input sound information direct to the neurons, but that is not possible in 2012, maybe in 2100 and you wouldnt call this "hearing" more like input information). Our brain works with this informations to distinct from where the sounds are coming from. We dont have dolby surround 5.1 ears on our head - do we? so we only need a good stereo source but added with these kind of rendering (reflection and what is often forgotten loudness). I tried the JSRS, but somehow some sounds are a little weird. Maybe I give it another try. I think it is too high pitched. There are some strange high pitched noises I dont like. I like Ace_SM better as an example (even if that is so much more simple and lacks different sounds, so you can hear a delay effect when several people fire the same gun, and so trigger the same sound.. annoying). this is how a real gunfight should sound like maybe: the problem here again is the recording itself. you can hear slight distortion (tape effect), loudness effect, bad microphone. But like max power expressed so good: the artistic effect is not a bad thing. When a game sounds like this youtube recording, maybe with a little less loudness effect, then I am happy ^^ ALso I do like the soldiers screaming.. I guess Neurofunker listens to Neurofunk then? another head on the forum.. nice one.
  22. just start the steam download for a few seconds. It makes all the folders and files - but they are empty I guess. Then copy the files from your friend over them while steam is offline. restart steam and it checks the files.. I guess many files are the same, but maybe not all.

    you nailed it! I like it. this also gives some realism feeling also. I can see in my mind flying with a heli to an Island landing with the troops, reconnaissance with other troops, talk about plans etc. Just a slight touch of music, not too much not too less.
