Images upload & short URL (services for the community)
tremanarch replied to Tom_48_97's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
An option to upload several pics at once would be nice. WHen I upload 10 pics -10 times clicking the file open dialog ist not so comfortable. but cool idea anyway! plus: when clicking into the field to mark and copy the string - why not use a script that copies it automatically. -

Terrain Improvement (dev branch)
tremanarch replied to NordKindchen's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
i think with one of the latest patches the grass distance was raised to 200 m (was 100 before) - with the best or second best setting. ArmA's problem is that it features realistic landscapes. in most arcade shooters the landscape is small and full of hills and sight blocking buildings and stuff that help to hide away the ranged textures etc. even the soo great battlefield 3 looks ulgy in the distance, but it just plays like a big deathmatch, you dont travel far and have time to watch the scenery. in bf3 they use some neat tricks aswell: contrast textures and dust and the like. all those maps have been built with the object range in mind - i am sure that this was one of the original limits to the mapmakers ;) the battlefield engine is not capable of rendering realisitc landscapes and contain the same sexyness they have with their small maps. but I dont want to bash them. its also a nice engine, and they have good indoor mechanics (nice levels and transition from indoor to outdoor). -- bohemia could invent an alien ice world (like planetside 2) or their mars landscape. that is where the engine shines most! chernarus is pretty beautiful, but all those trees need huge ressources. so far stratis is a nice well thought out compromise! now that ice landscape idea spooks inside my head :/ a game to compare arma partially is planetside 2 - it has big maps, but they feel totally artificial. super small stuff, hills and mountains wherever you look. in total it has just a size of 2 cities, but it has obejcts like it should be a biig vaste landscape. anyway: http://abload.de/img/unbenannthrudm.png http://abload.de/img/werwerweroeuna.png within those limis arma 3 looks even better! -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AliM8l2vv9Q&feature=youtube_gdata in other games the landscape looks big, but it aint. I guess even skyrim isnt as big as stratis.. (not even talking about altis) but I deviated. just to say it could well be that its impossible with our actual hardware to realize - there is no reference point - someone else who did it. this is one of the real problems: feel save but sometimes easy to spot due to detail difference to the background scene.. -- arma could have some weather / pollution depending "bloom" effect. on rainy days or in hot polluted cities you cant see that far. only on some good cold days it is possible. -
more ambient sounds! some birds, seagulls and the shore / waves. and wind and trees.

Blue1 Server - Dedicated Teetime Warfare [reworked]
tremanarch replied to Blue1's topic in ARMA 3 - USER MISSIONS
lets try this out! -
in skyrim I experimented with enb a lot. the guy added more functions, like refflection or different raindrops etc. basically its the same injector, but boris works on these things quite a lot. yeah I wouldnt mind to use his settings, sofar every game with his injectors looked better - but all those games looked "gameish" before. arma already looks "good" in vanilla.
-
press f5 ingame and i guess you have double edited some functions in controls
-
dont u use reset frequently? = center and its not a fov change. fov is sth else

Bohemia, have you bothered at all with the AI in the last 3 months?
tremanarch replied to bigshot's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
guys programming such an AI is incredibly tough! i am sure it would be worth 4 PHD titles.. its extremely crazy - it tangents scientific areas! dont expect too much. think of how happy guys in informatics are if they have crappy robots playing soccer.. the ai as of now - im sure - is big project that could be advertised at universities. the cleverst thing would be to implement some kind of software interface (a comfortable and mighty one) that the community can access to rewrite some og the ais behaviour themselves. -
sweetFX itself has a screenshot function, along with a reload and a toggle on /off @anachoretes: i did not understand what you said, nor what the pics mean. with sweetfx you can alter the colours and the saturation.. im pretty happy with vanilla atm.

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
tremanarch replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
some survival mod.. (like dayz - but in a more realistic setting) instead of zombies there could be AI patrols, AI bases etc.. or course it needs: persistent world, player made stuff (houses / bases / repair vehicles etc / claim areas) maybe on a dangerous map like Chernobyll with radioactivity and stuff / dangerous animals -
ts andrey how big is your vram? did you try setting texture to standard and restart the game? I had this behaviour in ArmA 2 - have 1 GB Vram and whenever I overloaded it, I had terrible LOD switching, and it only stopped when I restartet the game. Set the texture lower and it disappeared. texture setting seems to set the quality range not the quality itself.. not sure. in the third alpha patch there also was terrible lod switching.. but they removed it - havent had it since. i should mention that the higehr texture values are not there in the options for me anymore!
-
cant you reset it in the control options?
-
i had this in a different game when my GPU had too less voltage.. never experienced this in arma 3 though.

Eager to Play ARMA 3 - MP Too Slow
tremanarch replied to blaskowitz's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
if your VGA is bot the 560 ti version, it might be a littler weak aswell. -
even if its client side, the client could send a message to the server that it is hidden, and so just invisible - even if the other player looks in the blue sky. then when the airplane goes down it appears out of the blue sky.. not a brilliant solution - syncing is the better option! or for competitive play: clear sky or extremely cloudy ;) no in between states.

Urgent, need hotfix: 4x 3d scopes allows TrackIR users to look around freely in 4x
tremanarch replied to almanzo's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
why not just automatically zoom out when turning the head too far? so freedom of head movement preserved: check and no possibility to cheat look around and important: tone down sensitivity of trackIR while zoomed in!!!! even while "right mouse click zoom when running around" !!! onyl one trackir sensitivity all over the place would help -
kichura, whats your problem. jst remote connect to servers. I hardly use the ingame browser. external browsers are so much better. use playwithsix for total easyness...

Discussion on "Axed" Features
tremanarch replied to gossamersolid's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
the most significant change is the whole Infantry feeling of ArmA 3. while some people think its too arcade (mainly cause of run and turnspeed which may even not be final) the absence of clunkyness makes it feel soo much better. Even playing straight deathmatch games on close maps (unthinkable in ArmA II) makes sense and fun and doesnt feel so much different to typical deathmatch games, in fact you have additional tactical options, like stances / etc this change alone makes ArmA 3 superiour to all prior versions in my eyes! Even in-door fighting could now be done. Of course a project like ArmA is never finished. For you people I guess you have to understand, that makign such a big game is much effort. And all the stuff that is already done by mods - regardless how necessary it is or may be - gets a secondary priority, is really reasonable. yeah I am among the people that would love to have weapon rest - but we can get it with ACE for example, so why force it upon the devs if they can do other stuff in the meanwhile - even if this other stuff is in your eyes unnecessary like underwater combat. arma opens up and adds functions with diametral increase - and mods take care of some of very important features that - i give you that - should be implemented in vanilla /like weapon rest / radios etc). -
PvP servers are most of time crowded at evening in Europe. then you can get some decent matches!! also dont only look out for DM, but also Hold like http://arma3.swec.se/server/data/25096 or TDM: http://arma3.swec.se/server/data/34215 .. usually you can always find a pvp server with decent ping..

All in Arma (AiA) - TKOH/OA/A2/A1 merge with A3

works fine overall, but somehow it doesnt recognize my licenses. for example BAF STuff is blurry (low res texture), and the maps from ACR Dlc are missing aswell. -
