  1. I try to be disciplined and only play a new game once I've finished an old one. That said, I still have a few Steam sales games I never got into enough to bother finishing.

    So what happens now?

Fair enough. But please do keep modding once it's stablised. You could be the one to make this game awesome :D
  3. 1. Fix Walrus pathfinding. No need for me to say more on this. 2. Progressive Tech Tree option. I liked the Campaign's dynamic of progressively stealing new tech from newly captured research centres. It would be great to have that option in the Strategy game, too. 3. Enable use of island's Mantas and Walrii. It's odd the I can capture a Command Centre, but not use the island's vehicles to replenish my own vehicular stocks, or even fly them. I should be able to use captured vehicles as my own, replenishing my carrier's stocks or replacing my carrier's vehicles with any superior ones I find on the island. This would enable CC:GM to be played in a whole different way - more of a classic RTS mode - because losing carrier vehicles wouldn't ber disastrous. It would be easy to add this option from an interface perspective... Clicking on an island vehicle would pop up a dialog asking if you want to put it in an empty carrier slot, or replace an existing carrier vehicle. An easy amendment which would add whole new depth to the game. 4. Configurable number of islands. I'd like to be able to have ''smaller'' and shorter skirmishes too. 5. Coop and PVP. I realise they're unlikely to be added, but this game cries out for these options. I believe the glass is more than half full. I love the game. These enhancements would make me love it more.
  4. I just finished the Campaign, and I'm one island away from winning a Strategy game. And I've been loving it! Sure the campaign had some rather naff FPS elements and voice acting early on. But once the it moved to more familiar vehicular combat it was fine. The progressive availability of the tech tree gave it variety, and the final missions and the end scenes were exciting and even a little surprising. The Strategy game has been great. Finally, after never defeating the original Amiga carrier, I am going to exact my revenge. And then, I'm going to play another game with the difficulty settings ramped up, to test my skills. Despite the initial concerns, I think the game is just a few tweaks away from greatness. After 30+ hours of play, here are the things I'd like BIS to do to realise its full potential. 1. I realise it's unlikely to be added, but this game cries out for these options. As it stands, I think too many reviewers didn't give themselves enough time to get into the game. Which made the few flaws stand out even more than they should have, which is both a shame. However, I believe the glass is more than half full. I love the game.
  5. That laser isn't available in the strategy game, is it...?

    So what happens now?

It's an interesting theory. I really do hope there is more development being done. The game as it stands is on the brink of greatness. Just a little more fixing and new features and it'll be fantastic.
  7. I agree. Having a tech tree, acquiring tech as you win islands and raid research labs, would create greater variety in strategy mode. As it stands, I almost always use the same Manta/weapons/hook combination to take every island. Make me work harder for the cook toys :-)
  8. Errr, re-posting a suggestion that I posted in a (now-locked) thread. having not previously noticed this suggestions thread... CC:GM is a visually pretty game. But as we've been feeding back - ever since the first Beta - the Walrus pathfinding is crippling the gameplay experience. I'm aware that BI is working on a patch to address this. However, having read through the modding threads where people have peeked under the hood, it seems to me that BI may not be able to effectively address the problems with Walrus pathfinding within the limited confines of the current game engine. I therefore suggest that an alternative strategy would be to remove the obstacles which are preventing the Walruses from navigating effectively. Eye candy is nice. But when all those trees and rocks are stopping the game from working as intended, it's time to let them go. Ideally there would be a toggle for these landscape assets. But if that's not possible within the 3D modelling, perhaps uploading a version of the 3D assets which eliminates these. This is my suggestion, for consideration. Thanks for reading.

  10. According to intense Google research, JEMOCNY is a Slavic family name. FIDOJEMOCNY is obviously the JEMOCNY family's dog.
  11. One of the more encouraging posts from BI in the past week has been their statement that CCGM will be more ''modable'' than originally planned. While we're yet to see whether that just means ''new textures'', or ''new models'' or potentially much deeper changes, it did get me thinking about what kinds of things it might be fun to mod in the final version. Personally, and just based on my experiences of playing the betas over the past 6 months, I'd like to be able to modify some of the production speeds and economics in the game. It occurs to me that the game play would be quite different if resources and replacements were either very scarce or very abundant. It would either force a player to be very cautious in engagements, or if resources were abundant, enable a player to throw caution to the wind and play CCGM more like a traditional RTS. Anyway, my question is, based on what you've seen in CCGM Betas, what would you like to be able to mod in the final game?
  12. Europe was agonising slow. California came through for me though.
  13. Cheers, Korneel, saw your post before I got the email ... much appreciated!

    Beta Purchase?

I just tried the store. It's still downloading Beta 3. It'd be nice if someone could let us know exactly what time we can go there and download the full game... us being loyal and longstanding customers and all.

    Graphics LOD

I agree the default horizon is presently a bit too near.
  16. I always lift them from the water. Just hover your manta low and wait for the hook symbol to appear, then hit F.In fact, if the command center is close to the edge of the island, often the fastest way to win it is to take out its air defences with Mantas, then hook and drop a hacking Walrus right next to it.

    Some about weapons...

I find Plasma for ground targets and Missiles for air targets the most effective combination. The bomb is too expensive to make sense in the limited-island beta. In a game with more islands and production it will probably make sense.
  18. I've been playing for betas for six months, and destroying piers, but I never knew there was a point to it :-D
  19. Dram, that is awesome news! Thanks for sharing it with us.
  20. And therein lies the lingering concern...
  21. If the pathfinding AI hasn't been improved, it will cripple the game. I would rather the devs clear the islands of eye candy (trees and rocks and the other clutter which trips up the Walruses) to enable the AI to work, rather than release the game with the AI faults we're seeing in Beta 3. Fingers crossed.
  22. I wish we could randomise the island terrains and layout. I posted a topline process for creating randomised islands in another thread. It would add significantly to the replayability of the game.
  23. XP was only recently over-taken as the version of Windows still in most frequent use. Mind you, that's all PCs, so you'd expect the active gaming community to be much earlier adopters of newer versions.
  24. BI have said they will be more likely to add multiplayer if the game ''is successful''.So, paradoxically, not buying the single player version may well cause there to be no multiplayer. (I'm not trying to talk you out of your decision, just saying, is all...) For what it's worth, I'm mostly looking forward to the single player game. Then co-op, and multiplayer a distant third.
