    Release Language

They likely will localize the sprocket version - can't see why you should have to pay for it again.
  2. Mortem - when you uninstalled did you manually delete any old "leftover" files?
  3. I am downloading now. Anyone remember how big the beta 3 installer was? Will let ya know if I can confirm.
  4. I seem to recall that was a Beta 2 issue as well......

    Beta 3 bug reports

Units other than the carrier are all electric - thus no need to have other types of fuel units. The beta only has a few islands - and resource/production sliders are disable. The full game will allow you to have significantly more resources generated because of more islands. The sliders will also be available so you can tweak the game to your preferences.

    What time can we download?

Release date I have found says the 27th... http://vgreleases.com/PC/ReleaseDate-448992.aspx HOWEVER!!!! The OFFICIAL site says Europe gets it on Friday the 28th, North America gets its 2 October - which is Tuesday. Now why does Europe get it 5 days earlier???!!!
  7. The enemy carrier is faster than mine. What is up with that? Also - it apparently is "cheating" on fuel usage - as I can fill up at my stockpile that it is attacking - then chase it back and forth from my stockpile to another nearby island till I am about out of fuel. The closest place for it to fuel from is halfway across the map - and its not sat still long enough to catch a supply barque. Something ain't right.

    Some about weapons...

I don't even use the walrus until the defense is negated. There is just no reason to do so. Get Armor II, missiles and a plasma as soon as you can. Put em on one Manta with an ammo box. Go take out the island aircraft factories. Plasma's will give you a very long range, and the missiles will take out any enemies - ground or air. Yes - missiles will lock on and take out enemy groundpounders and turrets. Do one set of buildings at a time - return for repair/rearm/refuel. Once you get 2 manta's configured this way - you just swap between them. Once the reinforcements are gone - knock out anything necessary to hack/replace the command center - send in a walrus and then dock it when its finished. Go to your next target, rinse and repeat.

    Hammerhead?

Scout drones were NOT in the original. As for recont manta's - fly a recon run yourself - high and in between obvious strong points. Sure you take some damage - but even in a lightly armored manta you should make it home. Use afterburners if you start taking hits.
  10. If you are unhappy with the "grainy" effect - turn down post processing.

    Beta 3 bug reports

People- there is a bug tracker. If you have a bug or 12, report them there.
  12. It was developed in tandem - so it is not just a "port or conversion". In other words, they in essence wrote 2 versions simultaneously. As for design, just remember that it is "remake" of a PC game. There are going to be sacrifices - the "orders wheel" being one of them. But that does not mean the game is your standard console muck. On the contrary - I am a dedicated PC gaming snob, and I find the game very PC centric. Since I have not played the console version, I can't speak to that one.

    Download size of Beta?

For those looking for Beta 3 - your much more likely to see an email before you see a post here. Even then - you have to check email to dl it - so keep your eye there. I hope its today - but remember these guys are running a way different time scale than some of us.

    Online Store down ?

Dram - I am familiar with packaging. If I can assist BI with this (for free, no less) - let me know.

    Installation of upcoming Beta

NT - deleted because I found the info.
  16. Rolkhar They provide a video to Steam - its not BI that screwed you. Steam is responsible for what they advertise on their site - not BI. Steam should have edited it - or made it clear in their documentation to you that preordering through them would not get you beta access. BI not only is not responsible for the screw up - they even make the game available to you CHEAPER than if you buy it through Steam right now. Your anger is misplaced.

    Install beta on Win7 64bit?

I am running on some... unique hardware and Win7 x64. No problems whatsoever.

    Escaping a Fight

Plamsa guns on the manta - set your carrier course AWAY from the enemy - fly your manta low and to one side - then take out one engine pod from EXTREME range. That will slow your enemy allowing you to return and reload. When possible - put an island between you and the enemy - don't be afraid to fly around the island as needed.
  19. You can always cancel the pre-order and then buy into P&C. You get the beta and the game (through BI) AND pay less for it. Or you can do the Contributor path and get one from BI and one from Steam.

    Much Anticipated

Defeating the Carrier in the original was easy if you took your time and took advantage of the opponent. Easiest way to do it was to strand the carrier. Build up toward enemy territory - sooner or later the enemy will try and attack one of your islands that is pretty far from its own territory. Basically - it reaches long. When it does - attack the island that is his only logical stockpile - destroying his refuel point on his way back. Even if you lose the island he attacks - he now can't make it back to his territory to refuel. Dead in the water at sea - you can either track him down (go from his last few islands near the one you took to the one he attacked) or just capture all the other islands without fear of retaliation. The other thing you could do is sit don't attack his stockpile until he launches the supply drone - then just blow it up and take his island then. He is again - dead in the water.
  21. If you pre-ordered through steam - I don't think you get the beta. You have to actually sign up for the P&C beta program to get the beta is my understanding.

Bailing out and have been refunded

MP has not - as of last I heard - been ruled out. It is likely to be added in a later patch if the decision is made. It should be noted that BI has stated they are going to make the game somewhat moddable going forward as well - which increases its lifespan and attractiveness significantly.

Bailing out and have been refunded

This is the news so many of us have waited for. This MAKES the ocean "seamless" - its something that I can assure you the community (and the rest of CC:GM customers) are going to be much happier with! Great job. So the important question is - when will we see the new beta? Given that the beta ends in a little over a week, can you provide us some timeframe? Yes... We know - "SOON!"

Bailing out and have been refunded

I was one of the early P&C'ers - and I have no problem with BI "keeping" my money. For those of you who talk about gameplay being repetitive - yes - we have a VERY scaled down version. We knew that going in. But we also knew that the game was going to expand drastically when it went "gold". Why folks want to forget this fact is beyond me. Nothing was misrepresented - I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. I liked what I saw so much I did the upgrade when it was offered. Bellyaching now because you have gotten tired of the "snippet" of the game you have is just plain silly. I also appreciate that the CEO of BI has been paying attention to this - especially since he stepped up, acknowledged a problem and has worked (as demonstrated by one of the S. Dev's presence) to resolve it. Do any of you think you would see that from companies like Ubi, EA, etc? Heck no. The company cares - though I admit that they have been slack on showing it regarding this game. On to the "buggy" issue - yes its buggy. Its a BETA - its gonna be. This is the group that gave us the ARMA series - do you really think they have been just eating donuts on our dime while waiting on the P&C funds to run out before they release the game? They are gonna get it right - it might take additional time - but its not like BI doesn't understand the idea of "patches". Seriously - stop whining. Now they rightfully take the hits for not being responsive. They can't go back in time to fix that - but they are apparently taking steps to correct it. Lets see how they do. I personally am looking forward to the new beta. Hopefully the bugfixes alone show major steps - and we can always hope they open up the gameplay a little for us too......
  25. While I am enjoying the heck out of "testing" (read - playing) the beta, I have noticed a few things that I wonder if are "demo" only for testing purposes. I would HOPE that the plan is to change these to be more in line with the original game, and I will include my reasoning for why the changes should occur. If a BI person "in the know" could address this, I would greatly appreciate it! #1 Supply barque. Testing has the barque submerged and extremely fast. This makes sense for testing, as it allows us to "get on with the game" - but in the final product this robs the player (and the AI) of some great tactics. If the barque was on the surface and given a reasonable speed, it could be a destroyable object, making it a high priority target that, if taken out - could cripple you or your enemy. #2 Supply barque. This thing is FAST and has an unlimited range. As it is right now - there is little to no reason to change your "stockpile" island - just keep it as far away from the front line as possible. The "stockpile" designation does little because of the range and speed. In fact, there is no reason to even worry about fuel costs in travelling - because the barque can get you fuel fast enough it doesn't matter. It needs to be slowed tremendously so range does not need to be changed. This alone would force the player and AI to make more strategical decisions on where to strike. Predictable even in some cases - when a choke point is found - but that is what makes it more "realistic". #3 Enemy Carrier. Maybe its a demo "cheat" for the AI - but this thing can nearly outrun a Manta right now. While I recognize that there have been a lot of complaints about the battle AI - and I know BI is working on it - this is just a killer. At the speed the Carrier can go, a player could not engage it unless the AI decided it wanted to battle. If it decides to retreat, you better hope to get in some engine hits fast to stop it, or else its gone. Slowing the carrier will require a heavier load on the AI to react to attacks in a "smart" manner (like prioritizing attacks against the player on engines, maxing engine repair, taking out the attacker, etc) but I have confidence this will occur. So will the speed come down? #4 Islands lack regeneration. In the original, as long as the CC was up, structures would slowly be rebuilt. This needs to be put into the game - slow regeneration so that you have to supress as well as advance. While the island will "insta-heal" if you time warp away and back, there is no realtime rebuilding. It is drastically needed to balance the patient, methodical approach that makes the islands a bit too easy to crack as they are now. Otherwise, I could take do hit and runs on the chassis producers and rechargers, kill them all, then just wait while I get reinforcements (which takes no time - see 1 and 2) as well as waiting for the existing defenders to run out of "gas". Who cares if it takes an hour or 2 for the island to fall - the enemy carrier isn't a likely threat. With regeneration - a player will have to remain vigilant at all time - or get a nasty suprise! These four changes - in the final product at least (and hopefully in a future beta or RC) will go a long way toward making the game a lot better. There are many issues and suggestions already reported, and I don't want to create a ticket on something that may already be planned - so if we can get some feedback from BI - we will know whether they need the ticket suggesting these changes of not. Of coures, a discussion of the above would be good as well - so all you readers chime in with your thoughts yea or nay.
