  1. According to the data in the game the Hammerhead has a 8 Kiloton Nuclear warhead and automatically targets the island Command Centre. Just a personal preference, but I would rather see it able to destroy everything in an individual "base" but NOT the Command Centre - which is too heavily armoured - and make them damn expensive .. .. .. G
  2. In all honesty the speed of the supply barque does not bother me, in fact I like the fact that you can be resupplied on the move. That said I think there should be a speed penalty for getting supplied at long range, and one that is hefty enough to make you move your stockpile. As for intercepting supplies, I have no problem in principle as long as the AI does not cheat... but given the outlay in time you would have to put in, I would rather be capturing islands. When it comes to regeneration though, I think islands should be able to fight or regenerate, never both. The idea of all those spawn points coming back just as you are about to capture an island is not going to be welcome. Especially on the likes of a very strong defense island - perhaps there could be an extra difficulty level (you could call it "sadistic"). Once an island is captured (or the attack repulsed) it would be better to see everything gradually rebuild though, rather than repair in an instant. Just my 2 cents though, my opinion is no more or less valid than yours. G
  3. I guess because you can only get the Beta from the BI store and not through STEAM, so you will have dealt with the store for the BETA, it isn't unreasonable to think you would be prepared to get the full version from them as well. From what I have read it costs the devs more to sell through STEAM so you would end up paying a higher price for it. As for getting it for 20€ I suspect that the price on release will be a lot more than that wherever it comes from - so you may have to wait a good while to get it down to that price on STEAM or elsewhere. G
  4. The easiest way is to send a Manta to all the compounds (hold shift down and you can stack waypoints) to find the right spot and then send the Walrus direct to the Command Centre location. To speed it up even more manufacture a Hook and you can use one of the other Mantas to airlift the Walrus to the right spot .. .. It is a bit quicker than exploring with the Walrus !! G
  5. Seriously, that needs changing then.. .. G

    Anticipation

You will have to update it if/when a new build becomes available... G
  7. I think possibly a coop fight against a strong defence island would be a good idea, even to the point of allowing 2 carriers. Would certainly give a good length game. For multiple islands you are going to need to be able to save. I think the game lends itself to MP coop rather than head to head, but that's just me.. G
  8. Not that way - if you hack certain buildings (I think Command Centres) you can get Mantas & Walruses.. .. G
  9. You can do this by clicking the "cancel" button right under the time warp screen. To re-engage you just give the sail command again. Doesn't stop you sailing, just does it in "real"time... G
  10. If you are looking at it like that then the original had 1007 mantas and walruses, you forgot the 999 in the stockpile. The /2 is enforced, and although that gives you less on board than the original you can also be resupplied in the middle of a battle. Not an option in the original. Also useful when manufacturing finally completes that new weapon system as you are trying to take a defence island. The only thing I have not checked is what happens when you have a full manta load and pick up a freebie attacking an island... G
  11. From my understanding, the option to buy into the whole P & C is meant to be a limited option and may be withdrawn at any time. G
  12. I prefer using a Manta with Laser and Missiles under my control, which gets switched with an identical one when it runs out of ammo. Most important is not to lose units, stay on the edge of the action and try and get rid of turrets and Unit spawn locations (P and H on the map). Then follow this up with your tanks to finish up anything that is left alive. Once you have cleared out your first couple of bases it gets easier..... Make sure that all your units have Ammo boxes which helps a lot. Plasmas are good for ground targets, but suck against air targets so I prefer lasers which work well with both. Rockets are not bad as well, but missiles have the edge since they are guided. G
  13. 1 is the Carrier - Navigation, production, supplies & repairs 0 is the Carriers weapons systems G
  14. My Bad - don't know why I didn't just try it - obviously thinking of the original !! G
  15. I would have to agree with you there. It would also be useful if you could control the carrier with keys whilst you used the turret with the mouse.. G
  16. I finally managed to finish a game without the dreaded carrier attack crash happening - I was attacked by the enemy carrier, although since it came from one of my defense islands it would seem it may have had no Mantas or Walruses to launch, so it turned tail and ran away pretty quickly. I did notice though, once the AI was down to one island at one end of the map it sailed right to the other side to try and capture my stockpile, wondering if this is tactics or just a coincidence..... I seem to be only able to "see" the AI stockpile when it is down to 1 island - I would have thought that would have been the same for the AI !?!? Has anyone else seen it trying that ?? G
  17. I found out this morning that you can get re-supplied on the move - very useful, also you can still mess around with production whilst in timewarp .. .. .. Of course that doesn't help if you run out of carrier fuel or lose all your units - no timewarp and a LOT to manufacture. In the full game this would probably be less of a problem since you will have time to stockpile - especially if you can start off with all islands neutral - strategic mode rather than action mode !!! G
  18. I am guessing waiting for something to be manufactured, or perhaps waiting to see where the other carrier hits so you can avoid or attack .. .. G
  19. Wow, Carrier Command and Carmaggeddon all in one game ! G
  20. I stand corrected - just seen a few, they didn't seem to like my laser very much !! G

    unit design

Funny that - have you read the interview with the sound engineer ?? I think more sample of Jet engine and less of the cleaning womans "evil" hoover may sound better .. .. .. G
  22. It would be good to have a key to select all Mantas and select all Walruses..... Or even better make groups and select a subset of either or a mix of both .. .. .. G
  23. @Zopzodeman: Very nice summary. +1 2 points I would disagree with::: You are not in it, so how do you get out of it ??? It is remote controlled. In the original and it's resource management this worked quite well. The way resources are done in the remake I think it would make an awful lot of micromanaging to keep your tanks topped up. Personally I would prefer that Fuel was taken out of that part of the supply chain and managed separately - although still delivered with the rest of the stock. Not sure about the need to hold 4 Mantas and Walruses as stock - only having 2 is going to make you more careful.. .. .. Just my 2 cents .. .. .. Now to try out those missiles .. .. G
  24. I figured it gives them less work to do if you add it to an existing bug, rather than starting a new one. G
  25. 1) Agree, that would be much better than just a 3rd person 2) Already freely available do a search for Carrier Command Abandonware and you should get it - PC version runs fine on DOSBox.... G
