  1. Ah ok, and I wouldn't say off topic. I just wanted to know if they had thoughts on implementing them :)

    All i can tell you about breaching charges within this Mod is that there are charges placed on at least 1 of the Plate carriers we are implementing. Though adding them as useable object has not crossed our mind yet and will most likely not make it into our todo list in the near future as other, more major parts are taking up most of our time.


  2. Could try RoadKill, which is a fairly simple and free UV mapping application:

    You basically just select where you want the seams in the UV and it will unwrap to a fairly optimal layout, which you can then import back into Max to move around and scale the UV islands and merge them with the UV layout of other objects on the texture space to your liking. IIRC the chap who made it went on to work on the UV tools in Blender.

    It's a bit clunky as it often selects edges that you don't intend to select in the 3D viewport, so have to deselect them from the 2D UV space afterwards, but it makes things fairly simple. There are better apps around (like headus UVLayout) but RoadKill is alright for a free one.

    Are you sculpting in Max as well, or something like ZBrush? I ask since ZBrush 4 has some pretty neat ways of allowing you to reduce topology from the high-poly sculpts into fairly workable game models.

    My Sculpting is done in Mudbox as it was the easiest for me to pick up, interface and money wise. Thanks for the tip on the Plugin, i will take a look at that.

    About the lowpoly i am less concerened as my Mid-level model, which was the base for the highpoly, only has arround 7k Polys, so a light reduction and overhaul to make it compatible with Arma and it should be fine.

    Not sure if you are using a cad program to get the measurements but my friend has a bunch of them if you need any thing let me know.

    I did go old school, took 3 good reference images and calculated the multiplicator to get from the image size to the actual, real life size, based on the measurements featured on the Geiselle Website.

    Saying 148.972 Polys with Smooth - 53.223 without.

    Please note: that is still missing the lower cut outs as well as the whole second half of the handguard, so way more polys to come.

    So i finished up on the cutouts and mirrored the rail to see the almost final result.

    It is still missing some railspace as well as a few holes, getting thoose done tomorrow and then ill get some painkillers to prepare for the low-poly version.


  5. Nice work on that Geissele smr4, I know you guys aren't currently working on CAG/ACE but if you wanted to "practice" a geissele 10.5 HK rail..... ;)

    well only difference between the 10.5 and the 13 inch rail shown in the picture is minor details, such as the HK416 rail having a different connector on the bottom. As well as the 10.5 inch rail having less "openings" in the rail.

    Based on size the AR-15/M5 and HK416 Platforms are identical.


  6. As easter present i got some "personal" news to announce.

    I finally fought my brain to start creating Content inside 3ds Max, which i before use soley for the purpose of rendering our Normal maps and preparing Models for sculpting.

    Since "practice what your preach" would have been something to bite me later on when my teammembers inspect the 3d Model i started off with the Highpoly variant. For a first try i picked a RIS Rail-System from Geiselle Automatics.

    A little sidenote: i started work on it, including research and measurements, at arround 2 PM local time and took the screenshot below at around 9:30 PM. So i know i will need to get a little faster, but that will hopefully come over time. Now my eys burn like a mother - but i still wanted to give everyone a heads up.

    Would you like to see your model in there?

    Its scary, some of our models have weight problems - others might already show grey strains of hair and wrinkles. For a Showcase this surely is an interisting way of showing the community the model without any disturbance by light, texture or maps attacht to it. I think it is worth considering in the near future. Thanks for the heads up on that website.

    @Recon879: I am sorry, but this is how most addon creators and luckily the whole team of SOC react to such a rather pointless, some might even say rude, question. Meatball informed people several times that if any major updates happen, these will be placed on the front page of this thread, which will also be keept up to date, plus there will most likely be a message by Mr. Meat stating that the frontpage has been updated with further progress. As you see your question is answered on Page 1 of this thread and i hope taking a look at it will satisfy your curiosity and restrain you from posting further messages of his caliber.


  8. Yes - show the love to the most amazing non-bolt action handheld weaponsmanufacture in ze world!

    Sadly the german military went kind of "but we dont want a new bullet even if it is amazing and completly overpowers our current used round" - which is why there is a 9mm Version of this PDW. (NSWDG got the 4.6 Versions ^^)

    Also thank you for providing the indepth view on how you accuired your data sets. Your data will definitly find its way into our weapons systems.


  9. Was just thinking the other day about the Afghan Army and Police mod from Arma 2. Any chance you would expand this mod to include Afghan Army and Police forces along with the Special Forces? Maybe even ones from different eras like 2003-2015ish(when they were first formed and used US and Russian equipment) and 2035+?

    Looking forward to this mod regardless and keep up the good work!

    Look at the title of the thread, now back to me, i am not an afghan, now back to the mod - is there really a need for the considerabliy useless regular Afghan army to be inside the pack?

    Afghan SF was - after a good ammount of training and instruction - able to work with some of the best Special Forces from arround the world - regular afghan Military is still considered "farmers with uniforms and assault rifles", at least when i was there.

    now back to me - i am on a metaphoric huge iron horse, even though this isnt my addon, nore do i have any relation to the creator of this ambitiouse good looking addon, but i still gave you my humble oppinion, because you deserve that.


  10. I am beginning to think I did something wrong or I am missing something? The version I have right now doesn't look like the highlander pattern you have (mine is much more sparse with lots of white/empty patches and much less defined). Are there any requirements for this version?

    1. The Version you currently have is the "old" non HD Version of the mod as this one is not released yet

    2. The brightness issues with the texture is most likely beeing generated by a missing or outdated SMDI map or RVMAT file, though you are still looking at the "old" files.

No i know that i was just trying to give a discription i'm on my cel l and cannot post a picture, but please make it with the vests so if i suddently decide to use you're amazing vests with guerrilla uniforms, i can wear the belt to ( i use the MCC in the campaign to get other vest i don't like the guerrilla one and i loved yours so much) fyi i gave discription because i sometimes have troubles expressing my self and people don't understand me

    sorry the Belt will be a separate piece of equipment, taking up the corresponding slot inside your Player inventory.
