Left4Dead: Demo out now :for prepurchases only ;)
kmossco replied to SHWiiNG's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Loving the game! Found out about the game a few weeks before the release of the demo and I must say all my expectations are still intact... Got to love the Tankers and the Witches hehe AI is very good sending hordes of zombies in the most unexpected times, and friendly AI has good path finding and aim. I hate smokers, they always grab me from the ceilings . After the exams are gone I will have the ultimate blast hehe, all my friends loved the game, so I will be able to test the MP part of the game. -
I don't know how much does this one cost but I advise you to also look into ASUS ones, quite cheap and reliable. It is a nice hard-drive, always had samsung and never let me down! Now this is a mistake, buying a PSU from a low-end brand is quite a risk, maybe search for Corsair or LC Power ones. Concerning this setup, I recently asked here for help building my rig and I am pretty much happy with it. I had a 1100€ budget and it had to have monitor and case, so the GPU is a little weak but I opted to put DDR3 1600Mhz already and an Asus motherboard. EDIT: Also make sure you have a proper case with a good airflow, the new CPUs (even G0 revision of Q6600) and GTX280 can get pretty hot...

320GB is fine hehe, it's all I want. Seagate has priority though, as I like their drives and the supplier is right 300m from my place hehe. I don't know about you, but I always find that my data somehow expands to fill the hard disk it is on. Then again, if you have your heart set on it, fair enough Just got myself a new keyboard today; one of these. Its a modernized version of those old "clicky" IBM Model M keyboards. If anyone is looking for a real good keyboard, I heartily recommend it. They're bloody noisy though >.> I already have an external 500GB Western Digital HDD and a 100GB HDD in my old laptop. So it reaches already almost the 1TB mark lol. 320 is plenty enough for the use my PC will have. Btw I hate those keyboards, but that's because I am used to laptop ones and hate the "bold" ones. I have my eyes on Logitech's Ultra-Flat Keyboard, and others alike. EDIT: There is Speed-Link Verso Slim keyboard too.

The 320GB is almost the same price. But it is not faster, not from what I've heard. And I like this Seagate HDD.

I loved these Olympics. For 16 days I was glued to the TV switching from Eurosport to local coverages. It was a great competition and I can't wait for London 2012. Concerning the gymnastics' ages I don't know why all the fuzz about it. Teams and athletes were selected and "enlisted" weeks before the competition, why only now (after her good performance) this comes up? And why no one ever mentions the 14 year old that dived wearing UK colours in synchronized diving competition? Eurosport narrator said UK selected him to improve his skills so he is ready for the gold in 2012. Yes, I know the gymnastics and diving rules are different, but still, this biased assumptions and investigations intrigue me. I always thought Olympics was about bringing the best out of athletes, not of teams or politics.

Cool, then it's a wrap. Corsair it is. I even like the name hehe. Well I live in Portugal. I am going to buy the processor, mb and ram from an online store with physical store 70km away (it is cheaper by postal service yeah) and the rest from a physical store 300m from home. They are the ones who will built it. This way I have a well built PC (it is trustworthy) and from there I can learn how to build it for when I need an update.
-
Finally I made my final config: Price: 966€ Only doubt I have is if the PSU can handle everything and is reliable. Any thoughts on this? Thanks for the input throughout this whole process hehe

I'm not trying to convert anything. I'm just telling there's better alternatives to use your money on, since you're only advicing people to buy worse nvidia counterparts for no apparent reason. Please re-read what I said. I didn't advice him to buy an Nvidia. I said, that IF he was to buy an Nvidia (which is what we posted in his post) he better buy a 8800GTS which for the performance is the cheapest I could find within near the price range of the 8600GT he talked about. And I think you forgot my next post where I supported your POV and said that the ATI counterpart, the 4850, was indeed better. You should learn to read.
-
Again with the fanboyism? Damn, you are "trying" to help someone to know if it is a good buy or not. Please stop trying to "convert" people to ATI! Moderation already told you stop it, why don't you listen them?
-
If he doesn't care about brands and just wants a bang-for-the-buck, yep, best choice!
-
Better buy a 8800GTS mate. Will endure more time with the newer games than a 256MB board...
-
Yes it is mate. Could do with a bit more contrast though. I just bought a LG one but with 8000:1 for contrast. 19" though.

Phenoms are indeed the best options for those that prefer AMD. The Phenom 9750 Quadcore is a nice option, don't know any values out there, here they are a bit cheaper than Intel Quadcore. ch_123 is right you would need a new board and DDR2 RAM. About the PSU the one everyone keeps recommending me is the Corsair TX650W.
-
Well, it is not guaranteed that if you change anything the problem will go away, as I don't really know which is the problem. Nowadays a new board with DDR2-800 is rather cheap though and the Phenom looks good. So you really should consider the update a possibility. But if I were you I would try to find what the problem really is before doing anything, as you can even update again your setup and still have the same problem, and that will suck.

WoW! Have you seen the swedish wrestler attitude? Source
-
Yeah, saw that too on the news.
-
You weren't ignored mate. Just wanted to show my point and put an end in this discussion. Sorry about that.
-
You are really annoying mate, aren't you? I have my reasons and no, I won't post them here, sorry but I ran out of troll food. Check out in the nearest K-Mart. But just to show you a point you just wrongly dismissed: XFX Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX Black Edition: 277.19€ (predicted to descend to 200~220€) XFX Nvidia Geforce GTX260 896MB: 255€ (best choice at the moment) BFG Nvidia Geforce GTX280 OC 1GB: 375,90€ / 435,70€ ASUS Radeon HD4870 512MB DDR5: 233,50€ / 239€. So yeah, I can get a nice gtx260 for almost the same price as the 4870. Or I can wait for the 9800gtx BE. It all depends on what I want, not what others tell me it is better even though some people's valid arguments are interesting and compelling, your constant trolling isn't.
-
I liked the opening too Chinese culture is very interesting and was nice to see parts of it. What I found very interesting was the Angola exhibition against France in women handball. Never had seen them playing and they are really rough Swimming competition is here! Let's see if Phelps lives up to expectations.
-
It is smart because I already had two nvidia cards and two ATI ones. Never liked the ATI ones and loved the Nvidia! Why would it be smart to buy a GPU that is considered better than the others by a small margin but that in most reviews I saw it is under 9800gtx stock in some tests and under gtx 260 too. But of course only for 13% and considering it is cheaper, it's a nice deal indeed. However, if I was to buy an ATI GPU bang-for-the-buck as the yankees like to say I would buy the 4850. The GPU I want is the 9800GTX+ Black Edition. It will be retailed @ 200€ around here soon. Only 15/20€ more than the ATI counterpart at the moment. Well, tell someone that bought two cars (same model) throughout his whole life and spent more money and time in the mechanic than on the road. Then tell him and try to convince him buying another car that is an update of that model. Of course, as he isn't rich he sees a possibility of loosing his money again and prefers to buy from the competition. That is logic, not being dumb or fanboy.
-
Yeah, XFX 9800GTX Black Edition 512MB (PCI-E) and XFX 9800GTX XXX 512MB are on my radar too, they will be the first to drop price. They are sold here for around 250€. I really like the Black Edition and was the GPU I first saw and liked, but the 277€ it costs turned me down. Why is it dumb? Just because you prefer ATI why can't I prefer Nvidia? It is not only the xx Mhz of core speed or whatever that matters to me... I prefer to have a slower GPU but with a driver interface of my liking than an ultra fast GPU that I completely hate its software. Never had those lock ups and I have an Nvidia, probably not the same drivers, but eh, Nvidia never let me down. And nope, it's not a case of marketing, it's a case of preference.
-
Well, that's what everyone tells me. But there is a problem. I completely hate the ATI software and I really prefer Nvidia. I will only buy the graphics card mid-november probably so until then I might find another bargain for a nvidia one. A XFX Geforce GTX260 896MB DDR3 is around 280€. If it happens to descend its price to 200€ I will definetly buy it.
