  1. Yep, will need to tweak your setting, but it will most certainly run. Noticed it turbo boosts to 3.6ghz, better still. You run any other newer games?
  2. Had that happen on arma2 --turned out my cpu was overheating, 70C.+. My heatsink was all furry from cathair, damm cats.

Arma 3 Roadmap for 2015. Likes & Dislikes.

No, a fallacy, mission makers script in the dlc weapons --there is no pay to win!
  4. Yeah, that's the thing, you only got 2.21gb 'cause win7 ate the rest booting-up. 2.21 + 1.79 = 4gb ram. I got 64-bit with 8gigs ram --that's what you'd want to upgrade to for 64-bit. 8 - 2 = 6gb free for gaming.
  5. Looks ok, be modest with view/object distance in-game, sure. 32-bit on win7 eats alot of ram..., 64-bit, more ram, works better for games like arma3. Good luck!
  6. Maybe russian forces can wear "little green men" unmarked uniforms as in Crimea? Or the "vacationing russian soldier" uniform they wear in Ukraine & Syria? Purely for realism's sake, of course.
  7. The way i understand it is the dvd only has the key. The game will need to be d/l'ed from steam. Go here for details: http://support.bistudio.com/store-bistudio "− Activating your non-Steam CD key on Steam Step 1: Make sure you have the Steam client installed If you do not have Steam installed, please follow this link to download and install it. Step 2: Run Steam as Administrator •Right-click on the Steam icon. •Click "Run As Administrator." If this choice is unavailable, you are already logged in as Administrator. In that case run Steam normally. Step 3: Activating your game Click on the Games tab in the menu in the top of the client. Then select Activate a Product on Steam from the menu. Click the Next button until you get to this screen: There you can enter your CD key. Then click Next again. Your game is now activated and you can download it the same way you download any game on Steam...."
  8. I'd look close at his profile where the addy is pasted in. May be a space in the wrong place, syntax thingy.
  9. I know king-of-the-hill players sometimes lose their stats, the fix is to run arma.exe as administrator. Best to always run arma.exe as administrator. Steam too.
  10. I don't ask sound guys anything --They never listen! But yeah, 3-d positioning for direct von --since direct von is on the fx settings. Any thoughts on having a graphic EQ in audio settings?
  11. Lot's of people play this game on laptops. I'd say it's very common. That's not gonna change. Think we see more laptop users needing trouble-shooting here because of low specs & power usage setting found on many laptops. Thing 'bout overheating, not much can be done with a laptop, 'cept maybe sent it to a shop for cleaning. --or place it on a bag of ice while playing? I'd say most hardcore gamers know their way around a desktop just by cleaning & swapping parts as they upgrade. Had a guy last year in troubleshooting wondering why his Alienware laptop barely ran arma3 --It's an Alienware right? Right, but an Alienware laptop from 2008.... From a troubleshooting point-of-view, laptop or desktop matters little. Tho the fixes on a desktop may mean a new part, not a new rig like a laptop. ---------- Post added at 11:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:59 AM ---------- They say that about vodka & gaming too --yet our east european friends can't all be wrong.

  13. Im going to pick answer #3 -- "Gaming laptops are good for gaming.". But really, it all come's down to specs --and in arma cpu power trumps all. Nobody's gonna say a guy's 4.2Ghz laptop ain't gonna run arma. --overheating is not in the metric. I also got to clean the cat-hair off my cpu's heatsink 4-5 times a year ..., just part of being a gamer..., with cats. This thread is for guys wondering if their 'puter will run this game. It's not for gamers with monster gear --unless they just wanna dangle their thing.

  15. " -noLauncher " on the steam start-up parameters.
  16. Well, am thinkin' of another way.... Ok, on my js i can bind key presses to axis' --even with key presses, arma still sees the axis. It sees both. So say you used A/D left/right turn (or any keys that don't conflict). X-axis acts as keystrokes in a tank, and as a normal axis in analog. Thats to say your software can do that.

    X-55 not showing up

Humm.., found a 'fix' in the battlefield forum using Vjoy software: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/forum/threadview/2979150493889267304/ Seems the problem is the X-55 is infact 2 devices. So the game sees only one device, not the second one which is the throttle. Vjoy sounds like a pain to me, but if it works?

    X-55 not showing up

Did a google search --found alot for other games, same problem. May find something there: https://www.google.ca/search?q=X-55+throttle+not+showing+binding&oq=X-55+throttle+not+showing+binding&aqs=chrome..69i57.31904j0j8&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8 X-55..., does it use saitek drivers and software like my old js does? Arma 'sees' my throttle -- Z+-.
  19. Yeah, binding both actions creates conflict. Tho with tanks, they don't use analog. So, one only needs to input x-axis for turn left/right without needing to delete the analog x-axis input. So, the easiest thing for driving tanks is to add axis to turn, then delete when finished. No need to look at the analog setting.
  20. Weren't the Bis guys just at a gaming conference talking about Geneva protocols & ethical war-game design? --We still have anti-personnel mines, tho that falls under a separate treaty. Still, no doubt our modders can create all the mayhem anyone could hope for.
  21. Na, the problem is win8 --do a google search, not win7, not win10-- edwind even shows the win8 problem. Don't expect Bis to troubleshoot Micro$oft's software.
  22. Per function. Say i bound X-axis, twisty, and Pedals to left/right analog -- each will travel 33%. I tried that on a cart roadrace mission..., was sweet handling at high speed. Also use the trick on helos.., left/right collectives, half/half deadens the pitch for smaller inputs. Could try it on fixed-wing too --say one wanted less rudder authority?
  23. Can add ' -noLauncher ' to the steam start-up. That's what i do.
  24. I got a trick using the 'reduced range' feature that works very well: Both the X-axis and the twisty Z-axis are mapped to 'Left/Right analog' function. What that does is split the range of each axis 50/50 --with only 50% range on the X-axis, driving is very smooth, no over-correcting. For a sharp, full turn, use X-axis AND twisty axis for a max turn --much like hand-over-hand turning. Works great on the road.
