  1. @Pacific on Six Updater. Downloading now!
  2. Yeah, 'works', is vague, sry. I call for a punishing, punitive fatigue system --carry heavy, no sprint, falls and exhaustion on inclines and long marches. Push a soldier too much, combat ineffective. Much like the ace system, perhaps tougher. Why? Because in PvP, logistics matter. What you bring to a fight, and how you get it there shapes the gameplay. For example, why load a squad into a APC when sprinting is faster and safer? Why bring an APC when most Opfor will be sprinting around heavy with launchers and extra rockets? That's one reason why AVs are deathtraps in A2. Arma3 will have "gear load affects sprint duration and accuracy." We have that now in A2, not that we notice. Ofcourse, we are talking hard-mode where most PvP players prefer to play. Arma has always been about options. An unforgiving fatigue system needs to be one of those options out-of-the-box. Without it, basic PvP will require ace type addons from the get-go. Arma PvP players like hard-mode.
  3. Hard to think of pvp without a squad hud, shack-tak. An ace style radio net. In-game, a way to join/switch squads. Also hope the fatigue system works.

    Hell in the Pacific MOD

Congratulations to you and your team. I believe this is going to be something big. Reading thru the manuals, I'm struck by the care and attention to detail crafted into this mod. TvT play has found a home. <Salute>

    [RGG] Tournament 2012

Yeah, good luck with this. Hope we get to see some gameplay footage.
  6. Agreed. The hope is arma3 will have solid out-of-the-box, ready to play PvP. Arma:PR shows public PvP can be done well, with simple ui features and game modes on standard maps.
  7. Amen. Between ace and pr, there's many play tested pvp features bis can incorporate. A squad hud and squad select are two obvious must have features.
  8. Configure and tweak, then join a MP server. Configure and tweak somemore, repeat.
  9. The chat colors are washed-out now. Was that the idea? With a nvidia card, can increase "Digital Vibrance". The extra saturation does make colors pop more.
  10. On another feature: "•New system of hearing weapon reports at different ranges, with distance attenuation and filtering." How is this coming along? Will we hear it in the alpha?

    ARMEX Armory Question

After you select, go back and 'vote to start mission''. You'll spawn into a random mission with the item selected. Good luck!
  12. I don't see any down side. Multiplayer PvP has finally come to the fore in the armaverse. Remember, it was only last December v1.60 netcode allowed decent PvP play for the first time. Just months after v1.60 we have thousands of players meeting online to shoot each other --tis a beautiful thing! The Devs have focused their efforts to fix and polish MP to the point where a final release canidate is close at hand. This is real progress. Then there's all these 1000's of DayZ players who, know it or not, are learning arma better than any bootcamp will ever do. Have you noticed the online members on this forum have gone up atleast a third? Then there's the hype. The Bis crew has the pc gaming world watching just as the Arma3 alpha is being prepared. Can't buy this kind of attention. Arma 3 is poised to be a best-seller. And it's gonna be driven by multiplayer.
  13. Better PvP tools out of the box..., squad hud, an easy squad join UI like in PR:Arma; ACE type map tools; ACE radios maybe. Direct comms as good as acre. A better browser. A way to D/L content on the fly for public servers. No need to change Arma. Just make it easy to get on a server, join a squad, use the comms. [edit] Oh, Dayz is reason enough to make sure online play works out of the box.
  14. When PvP is up and running, i'll buy the game.
  15. Looks like the interview was already over. Easy to say 'no comment' when the line is dead.
  16. Just got in the server for the first time using v .11. Some questions: --any way to turn off the 'debug monitor? --do i use mousewheel menu for actions like firstaid? --where do i look for stuff? I looked around some farms, can't enter building, didn't see anything. Any advice on getting started would be appreciated..., thx
  17. Either you're a pc gamer or you're not. Gaming rigs can be cheap if you build yourself. Console games are made for people who just want to play from time to time without hassle. That's why most titles are ported to console. PC gaming is a niche market for afew geeks like us.
  18. An interesting read from SickBoy and other SU/ACE team members --thx for all your work on the game. The PvP scene will get better as more people see how good the netcode and hit detection has become. It's very playable, ever with a heavy server load and hi/lo pings. I've noticed the United Operations players doing more pvp using ace/acre. PvP maps don't just happen. The same guys who've made great coop maps are using there skill and dedicated play-testing to make new pvp missions. Roleplaying? Well, haven't tried Life, yet it's tres cool folks have come up with a whole new way to play arma. How could that be bad? A persistant world is the "holy grail" in combined arms, pvp play. Maybe the Life players are on to something? Anyway, thx again to all the modders and server owners who spend their time and money on our game.
  19. 1.60 netcode makes pvp playable. And its only been out afew months. PR is popular because it's a single-download public server concept. It's a great concept. I'd love to see an ACE download along the same lines. What pvp player wouldn't play the crap out of it?

    Thoughts on using enemy uniforms

Am thinking this feature could be used for custom uniforms, squad/clan patches and badges, flags. A Scotish clan in Kilts anyone? Or Gurkas? I could see this in multiplay. Or "Attack of the Killer Clowns"? --oh, the humanity!

    ArmA 3 Online

I've played WWIIOL for years, mostly flying. But pc gaming has changed alot. People don't want to pay to play..., atleast not $18 bucks a month for a single game. Newer games raise money thru an ingame store selling upgraded gear, but free to play. "Rise of Flight" and "World of Tanks" are examples. The 24/7 combined arms battlefield is every wargamer's wet dream. WWIIOL does it still, but with a small playerbase on an old engine. Bis is a talented group of developers. It's guys like them that push guys like us to keep upgrading our PCs to keep up. I'm just enjoying the ride....

    ARMA for casual player?

Very helpful people to play with. Casual players are more than welcome. They use ace/acre/teamspeak. The DLs are handeled by '6 updater' --a unified installer for all the mods and updates needed. Here's their quick start guide: http://forums.unitedoperations.net/index.php/page/index.html/_/required-reading/united-operations-quick-start-guide-r50 Also, "Project Reality" has a PvP beta mod for arma worth looking at. GL!
