    Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

    I believe, when you find a game mode, a server, a group of friends..., your settings may be tweaked down --perhaps far lower than your expectations ever intended them to be-- and you will find contentment, joy, brotherhood and an abiding love for the game as i and many others gamers have found. I believe because a gamer will adapt to any limitation, any nerf, any bar to their desire to play. To laugh in the face of Lag; To scoff at minor updates..., and pity the players who whine like female dogs in heat, at distant forums far, far away from the din of battle and the glory of pawnage.... We all pity them. I believe, because we love the game, no matter how uber the GPU, nor lowly the RAM --THIS IS ARMA!
  2. If your view distance is cranked too high..., ain't a rig yet sold that can't be brought to its knees under load.

    Hello, wondering if temps are crashing you. Dust-bunnies on the cpu heat-sink will do that. Some problems with the steam linky option, turn it off. I got a blizzard 'round here, but down-under maybe heat? As to the chat, known issue. Don't know the status --there's threads you can look for 'bout that. For me, hot temps would freeze the game where i'm looking --need to alt+tab out to kill the task. GameBooster3 or MSI afterburner are good apps for temps and generating specs if we need to look closer. Keep us posted.

    Thinking 'bout it. When i ran 32-bit, cut backround services down to 22-24? At start-up, just 90-110mb ram draw on the system... So, 4gig installed, 3gig detected, minus 100mb = 2900mb something ram. --XPhome, sp2.
  5. Strictly a matter of opinion. I run 'nvidia half-refreshrate' @75hrz giving a smooth, steady 37.5fps. And as the saying goes about opinions..., everybody's got one.

    Worth doing the math on this for 32-bit. 4gig installed, but only 3gig used by 32-bit, minus os and backround progs, equals 2509mb available ram. Think that's right. Shows why 64-bit is where a gamer wants to be.
  7. Campaign is a scripted mission, and since you can replicate it at the same spot each time, could it be a trigger point, bad script? Does lowering view distance help? May want to cross-post this in the 'OFFICIAL MISSIONS' section.
  8. Dropping object detail to Low helps in those scenes. I see that zooming a scope at trees filling the scene. Low detail helps alot.

    As in 12000m. view distance & 12000m. object distance? For what reason exactly?
  10. Netcode? Makes sense if your 'puter is waiting for packets, performance will suffer. Syncing issues come into play as in 'who sees what, when, where. Interested how dayz sa will optimize netcode for 120 slots & gobs of ai.

    Tell me how running a benchmark at 3800m. VD/3200m. OD makes any sense at all? 'Garbage in/garbage out' applies to a3 like this: If you INput garbage settings, you OUTput garbage framerates.     Ok..., --Thru steam...go to: a3//properties//local files// "Verify game cache.." From the other thread try: "....Also you can try a new arma3.cfg, by renaming it(Xarma3.cfg)...." --A full reinstall of a3? Running out of ideas..., keep us posted, good luck.

  15. Well, this is the peer to peer troubleshooting section so...,"settings blah blah blah... " is the meat & potatos of troubleshooting. "My fps suk!! Bis fix your game blah blah blah..." only works in troubleshooting if they want help and offer specs/setting. If they don't want help, it's flame-bait trolling. And i wonder why the mods don't ban them out-of-hand. As far as mods having opinions, they don't stop being forum members when they volunteer to mod the mayhem. Tho, if you do have a problem with a mod..., pm the lead-mod or bis to complain. As to the rest. I don't know.

    To be fair tho, arma2's PvP scene didn't take off til the v1.60 Dec./'11 netcode patch. DayZ came out that April. Wonder how many people playing DayZ right now? [straight-faced]

But we don't develop the game, employ the personnel or create the work-product thru-put. We can read the daily change-logs incase we're wondering what's being done overthere.     Reasonable comment. Do you think 'multiplayer is dying' is a genuine concern being swepted under the table, since player numbers are known and tracked, and since, this thread is at 26 pages? If so, care to explain your view?

    Did you check to see if the chipset driver is installed? Happened to me. Installed driver..., wonder why my rig was crawling, checked to see and found driver reverted to generic.     I find the nvidia CP AFx & CSAAx work very well at low rez. in a3. If i didn't need to lower rez for better frames, i wouldn't do it. But i wouldn't complain 'bout low frames either.     @1920x1200 screen rez --do you even need AF/AA at that rez? Avg: 27.415 fps...., i'd try lowering screen rez to raise that average. My benchmark at 1000m.     Without posting specs & setting, Your "slide show" assertion is meaningless. But i got a hunch you know that.
