I don't normally speak of my desire to kill all redfor --the killing is easy; the explaining is hard. It's not their bug helmets, nor their panty-hose legs ..., it's their lemming ez-mode i enjoy killing. How's that for wwiiol propaganda?

Keybord is alien to me --always stick in one hand; Mouse in the other. No clue how these KB guys fly their infantry into combat ..., and don't get me started 'bout pedals.

Challenges of Jungle/Marine Warfare in Tanoa
ratszo replied to froggyluv's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Melee? Bayonet & buttstroke ..., or will we still need to reload while face to face with the enemy? Jungle will draw us into melee, and arma needs this option --long overdue. Melee. The last few yards to go for Arma. -
Arma is a serious game in the sense it strives to abide by the laws of physics & ballistics in a real world setting. As a sandbox, it is the choise of players to decide how they wish to approch gameplay. For example, i play in first person while many others choose to play in third person. The sandbox allows that choise. "To each their own." Serious gaming is for serious gamers. Arma has a place for serious gamers.

Got slightly better scores on Altis/Stratis benchmarks, like one or two frames better. Noticed the first time run-thrus were very smooth, not the normal micro-stutters loading terrain. Maybe pilots will notice smoother flight? As to crashing, like the poster above: Verify, Defrag & Restart after every patch.

The arma console command: " L-Shift + numberpad/minus fps ". Enter once will lock frames at 60; enter twice for 40 & third time for 20 fps. Also, " L-Shift + numberpad/minus flush " will flush the gfx cache. ---------- Post added at 09:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:34 AM ---------- Oops, missed PuFu's reply.

Yeah, for casual shoot'em up, HostileTakeover's 1st person (hc), infantry only servers are very good "target rich" enviorments. Good place to sharpen one's combat skills. Well admin'ed, they got ts & 'join group' for more squad based play. Galzohar's IDF crew are worth checking out for fine PvP play. Don't overlook Bis's 'Endgame' servers for squad play either. Good Luck!

I hear ya froggy, winter's over & summertime is here. Alittle less arma and alot more time outside. Next winter, arma will still be here, but this summer will be long gone. Life's a beach if you got one. Enjoy!

I use Razer's 'surround' driver. Its got an 8-band EQ. With the bass jacked, and the treble cut, sonic cracks are muted, and the bark of rifle fire is heard. ..., not to mention footsteps. So, find a driver with eq, or atleast bass/treble input.

There's two popular radio mods: 'taskforce radio' & acre2'. Both use teamspeak. No idea about mumble.

Ok, the only green icon to look for is next to the server. Ignore the icons on the bottom right for vanilla. Zeus, Karts, Heli, Marksman & DLC are all part of the game. Make sure they are all selected in the 'expansion' tab.

It's not all jungle. Think of high-canopy rainforests, plantations, high-alt pine forests, mango swamps, rice paddies, terracing. Can be very diverse.

For the Love of GOD please remove weapon selection from action menu (scroll wheel)

"John was killed" "Chris was killed" "Jimmy was killed" ..., Oops, my bad .... The drill i practice with doors is, full sprint open/close door without stopping. Not as easy as it sounds. -

You mean "use default action"? Think it's defaulted to 'Enter'? Thing is, if you miss the mark, you're switching weapons or some damm thing --not too swift in a firefight. Workaround i got is: 'Use default action' = 2xRMB, combined with, 'Close context menu' = RMB. With this, if i miss the mark, the window closes, no action. Anyone who's played urban fights knows getting jammed-up opening/closing doors under fire is a pita. I'd rather mash a open/close door key under battle stress. -

I'd like a key or keys defined for 'open/close door'. -
Running out of ideas when Arma 3 will not launch from steam. No error message.
ratszo replied to ryguy's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Ryguy, check to disable steam features, like steam overlay & fps counter? -
For sure. High res just looks better, less need for AA solutions, truer to life.
-
Well, the OP's question is will hi-res give a distinct advantage over players with lower resolutions. Maybe someone has screenshots using hi/lo res? I can say in older games i've played, bigger pixels at lo-res was easier to see than smaller pixels at hi-res. Mostly thinking of flight sims where a pilot scans the sky for that single pixel --bigger is better. Doubt it matters much in arma.

Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
ratszo replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Depends on the chips being compared. Quite afew sites get into close comparisons using benchmarks. All the new 'K' series i5s will run this game stock ..., a good price point to consider. Overclocking is a good thing going forward, tho a good chip won't need an oc out of the box. Was looking at the i5-4670K --3.4ghz..., turbo to 3.8ghz, not a bad price point, if that matters. -
Short answer is no. As stated above, low-res will yield bigger pixels. I remember reading 'bout competitive gaming where the pros used lo-res & small screens in shooters. "144hz 1ms response" --sounds like a very good screen, high refresh is easier on the eyes. Seeing the enemy before they see you is the art of this game. My advice is to slow the pace, head on a swivel, freelook most of the time. Use cover. Guys in 3rd person pov tend to ignore cover. Try 1st person as default if you haven't. Shooting is a game of angles. Reduce the angles, create fire-lanes, control the killzone. When moving, if you can see the countryside --the countryside can see you. Don't skyline. For effects, try colour saturation. Nvidea calls it 'vibrance'. Good Luck!

Did you use Fred41's 'LargeAddressAware' tweak? If so, need to edit an entry in registry. Regedit path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\arma3.exe "LargePage" value =0 -

The i5 chip is fine for gaming. The "K" series chips are unlocked for overclocking. A good motherboard & an after-market heat-sink helps with overclocking. Look for high speed RAM too. SLI? Don't know, but one card is fine for arma. Good luck. -
Sorry, can't help. But you may get answers on the 'server forum': http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?167-ARMA-3-SERVERS-amp-ADMINISTRATION Think i've seen this question answered there before. Try doing a search? Good Luck!

Is airpower ruining a good infantry game or how do you counter it effectively?
ratszo replied to vlerkies's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
HostileTakeover servers do run an 'infantry only' version of king-of-the-hill. I often play the CA2 server, inf only, 1st person view. -
The Bismark chain? Guadalcanal, the slot, Truk? Even something inspired by the slot will be epic for land/sea operations. It's the micro-terrain that grabs me wherever they put it.
