Arma 3 Dedicated server
SavageCDN replied to cannonouscrash's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
I was referring to the alpha verision... I'm sure there will be no issues with the full release. We ask because: Game is only available on Steam. In the past there were no 'server only' files for Arma thru Steam A3 Alpha must be installed in order to run (Steam) Cannot install more than one instance per machine with Steam. Anyway I'm sure it's been worked out but as a server admin I'd love to know :p -
Arma 3 Dedicated server
SavageCDN replied to cannonouscrash's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
So looks to me that we cannot run multiple instances of A3 dedicated on one machine? I need to actually install the game on the server correct (registry and all)? -
^ paid him to say that :p Looks like I need to pimp up my profile page here

Multi-Session Operations v4.5 released
SavageCDN replied to highhead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Random guess do you have the database.txt file in the right location? You can also check the .rpt file I believe it will log something -
Tried the "construct a FOB using HESCOs flown in by chinook" did we? :p

Multi-Session Operations v4.5 released
SavageCDN replied to highhead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
hmm..ok then other than ACE ACRE we are not running the same modset. For your supply problem - you mean the mission does not connect to PDB at initialization? I would think it would stop there and you wouldn't get any further (happened to me I got stuck at Loading Player Data screen) -
A comprehensive guide to creating a headless client compatible mission
SavageCDN replied to mons00n's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Yes thanks for this guide.. managed to get HC working with DAC last night not too complicated if you are already used to DAC :p Does anyone know for running multiple server instances on the same box with only one IP address - can I use : port appended to the end of the IP address in config so that HC knows which server: port to connect to? -

Multi-Session Operations v4.5 released
SavageCDN replied to highhead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Thanks for the confirmation that I'm not insane :p I was about to try a re-install but if you've done that already I won't bother. Yeah we run a vanilla Insurgency on the same box that gets 20 players average a day and no issues there... only on the instance running MSO. I've even swapped instances and put MSO on a different setup and it still happens. Not using the latest GIT just 4.55 Not using beta either -
There are updates for the ONS mod however they are not being released to the public. There is a realism unit 7th mechanized bg or something (don't have the link at work) and I guess the ONS developers (or one of them) is a member.. they use updated ONS within their group only. I'd like to believe they are holding out for Arma 3 to release it but I have my doubts.

Multi-Session Operations v4.5 released
SavageCDN replied to highhead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Good luck :p Replied here too: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?146814-Desync-over-LAN ---------- Post added at 11:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:44 AM ---------- I get this crash message about once a day running MSO (PDB or NOMAD) ErrorMessage: Warning: preNLOD format in object rangers\sfc_d_gary.p3d The actual .p3d file it errors on varies.. sometimes it's a stock BIS thing.. sometimes an addon (like above). We run more than one Arma server on the machine and it's only the MSO one that crashes like this. Anyone seen this before? -
Creating A Dedicated Server
SavageCDN replied to flighttime95's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Launching BE on the server is done thru the server.cfg file so not sure why it wouldn't work with T2DST (dont use it myself).. make sure in T2DST you have a param for BE path ie: -bepath=c:\tca\users\gameservice\18\expansion -
Too many virtual memory blocks requested.

windows dedicated server
SavageCDN replied to lbpero's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
With a dedicated server like the one you posted thru the link you have complete control over the entire machine and usually have remote access like RDP or VNC. While this is great it is also a lot more complicated and if you have no experience being an admin on a server it is not recommended. Renting a slot server is much cheaper and easier - you rent a 'part' of a server that you can run Arma on - be aware that there may be other customers on the same server renting their own slots. If you are looking to run a DayZ, MSO, or other server which requires external applications you might not be able to do this renting a slot server. my server connection sucks
SavageCDN replied to jeremy123's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
..and what is your server's connection speed to the Internet? If you are hosting yourself do you run as a dedicated server or an MP host? -
I think for MSO it just happens on occasion.. as long as it doesn't stick for a long time I wouldn't worry too much about it.
-
For MSO the requirements are higher than most missions.. I find about 256kpbs upload per connected player is what you need. So for your connection look at 6 players as the max (with overhead)... so you are OK there. The desync I'm not too sure about I don't know a lot about what causes it exactly. I have noticed desync testing MSO mission on my LAN server with just me connected so I think it's more to do with the mission itself than any setting you can change. I have the bandwidth settings cranked up high on the LAN server too.. problem with your setup is you cannot adjust those bandwidth settings to match your connection (LAN 10/100/1000) and your friend's connection (WAN max 2mb upload). Does the desync last a long time? I find it helps if all players stop and open their maps once the chain appears.. seems to get rid of it quicker.

Multi-Session Operations v4.5 released
SavageCDN replied to highhead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Well on our servers they all go into \Keys.. perhaps it works with both folder locations for CO? -
Multi-Session Operations v4.5 released
SavageCDN replied to highhead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Yes and ONLY add the .bikeys of mods you want to allow (including client-side mods like JSRS_ACE or st_hud). If the .bikey is not there the player will be kicked (with msg) Put them in \Keys folder not \Expansion\Keys (pretty sure this is true for beta version as well but not 100% certain) -
Dynamic-AI-Creator (DAC) V3.0 released

SavageCDN replied to highhead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
You'll need to edit the server.cfg file usually stored in the Arma2 root directory on your server. Lines you will need to edit: //Enables or disables the signature verification for addons. Default = 0. Weak protection = 1. Full protection = 2. verifySignatures = 2: // Signature timeout fix regularcheck="{}"; // unsigned data detected onUnsignedData = "kick (_this select 0)"; // tampering of the signature detected onHackedData = "kick (_this select 0)"; // data with a valid signature, but different version than the one present on server detected //onDifferentData="kick (_this select 0)"; Basically this will require all clients to use signed addons only, and will kick players with different versions of mods -
POLL: Do you play ArmAII with ACE2 always on?
SavageCDN replied to kroky's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I can't really go back to vanilla Arma (not trying to sound elitist or anything I just love all that ACE brings to the game). Iceman I feel your pain however it's been a while since this has been the case. Except for the last few weeks (when CBA got updated) there has not been a new SU version in months. ACE is in hibernation until Arma3 and only releasing small fixes, etc. I think the last ACE update was Dec 2012 or maybe early January? For me it's worth that hassle to play... IMHO of course :p
