I also wish we had a law system like in Singapore, they have one of the lowest crime rates around the world.

Star Wars Battlefront: impressive trailer
negah replied to dontknowhow's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Well im ok with non destructible environments, if it helps improve other parts of the game. I always thought it to be a non-essential nice-to-have feature. And I cant remember any scene in Star Wars where stormies would make a hole in a wall to get those rebel scum :D Lets just pretend that the buildings in the galaxy far far away are built of some very resistant materials. -
The 5% threshold is not to keep the far-right from the parliament, it is to keep the parliament clean of dozens of minor parties so that it can actually work and has not to be reorganized every couple of months. We had no such Threshold during the Weimar Republic, and we all know how that ended. Besides the far right will keep telling truth as long as they are in the opposition just like our leftist party does now. As soon as theyll get to rule the country, theyll switch to bullshit-mode.

To be honest, if they were just putting out games with the same old gameplay as in the first three titles, everyone would be bitching about the lack of innovation, addon sold as a full price game and so on (look at Call of Duty / Assassins Creed). Still I agree that those older games were more interesting than the new stuff, still I liked the Vegas titles and I will play Siege. Though it seems that I was right when I passed on Lockdown, judging by reviews. I hope the singleplayer part will be in line with what we have seen in the multiplayer videos and not 3 guys vs 300 tangos in an endless hall. And please bring pre-planning back, it was an integral part of R6 games.

There are theories on mp.net that there might be some fake parts placed on the turret to distort its appearance until the parade. Other theory says that since the crew as the most vulnerable part of the tank is in a separate armored compartment, there is no need to keep things small, and a hit in the turret would not mean a total kill for the tank and it might still be operational. Perhaps the different sensors are also in separate compartments in the turret to minimize damage to the tank when hit, that might explain the size of the turret. Overall that tank looks a lot bigger than classic soviet/russian designs. Still it seems to be in line with the current understanding how a tank should work, so no 152mm guns, no weird combinations of an mg and 30mm gun as in the CGI video, and sadly no railgun :(

Less Than 40 Percent of People Worldwide Have Ever Connected to the Internet
negah replied to oxmox's topic in OFFTOPIC
Thats really hard to believe, but then again our very own chancellor has said that "internet is a new land for us". Yet again the developing countries have a vast majority of human population. So while I cant imagine a life without internet right now, many people manage quite well without it. I wonder what kind of technological wonders the future generations will be using, while I wont be even aware of them. -
Well the gameplay in ArmA2 is pretty different to OFP. All the grass, and competent machine gunners make the game a lot harder than it was in OFP :D New graphics also make it a lot harder to spot the enemies. Also AA is now a bigger threat to you on the flying missions. Remember the hellish mission where your whole squad was annihilated and you had to get past soviet patrols to a rendezvous point? (I think it was called After Montignac) Well its a lot harder now :D but on the other hand Armstrong isnt John Rambo, so I guess that makes sense. Still most of the tactics I used back in OFP still worked in CWR2 and the feeling and the atmosphere is still there and thats the most important part I think. At least that was my experience.

Oh of course those people and houses must have killed/destroyed themselves, how could I think of something else. Im too lazy to search for videos or photos on the internet to prove something to a random dude on the internet, who will deny everything thats not correspondsÃng with his point of view anyway. Anyway what do I care about, thousand of civilians around the world are killed yearly by ourselves or our allies in some glorious wars on terror, but its never spoken about, so it doesnt happen. Why should it be different in this case. I have to take a leave from reading this topic for a while, my hypocrisymeter has just exploded, couldnt manage the incoming traffic.

http://itar-tass.com/en/world/771996 I understand that the whole shelling of the rebel held cities is carried out by rebels themselves just because they are so evil and pro-russian and thats what evil russians do all the time. So that bomb was obviously dropped by the russian air force, since the rebels dont have one. If there IS a slight chance that it was in fact the ukrainian air force, although we as good westerners all agree that they would never do such a barbaric, russian-style, thing, that would of-course be in the name of greater democratic good and hence not count as a terroristic attack.
-
Well he was a good dictator after all. I mean torturing and all that stuff is pretty common everywhere, and if our democratic standards dont allow it, we just create a concentration camp somewhere else where we dont really see it and can torture there too and everyone in our country is safe and happy. Oh and as mentioned, torture is part of their law, so no need for concerns. I mean as long as we are friends with them. And here we get to the most important point: he was our ally, he was buying our tanks, so no need for harsch words. Rest in peace, good dictator.

Yeah there were also photos of a TOR supposedly sighted somewhere in eastern Ukraine. The problem with those photos is that there are no roadsigns or similar stuff to properly say if its really in Ukraine. Moreover its kind of an overkill to send in the most modern stuff against more or less non existant air force. On the other hand russians might be wanting to test their new toys in real combat situation. Or that would mean a full scale invasion, but that doesnt make sense if Putin wants another frozen conflict like Transnistria, Abkhasia or South Ossetia. The recent offer to create a free trade zone with Russia by Merkel preceeding the separatist offensive however might now look like a last attempt to influence Russia since sanctions didnt worked at all should that TOR and Pantsir sightings are true and really mean a russian invasion.
-
But thats the same arguments that can be used against why the separatists have done it. Because you know, you cant just go with a Grad to the front line and shoot it on the city without the army noticing it, and you cant just shoot that grad from somewhere else and claim it was the army, especially at night when there were propably dozens of civilians who have seen that. Why the army would do that? Maybe due to incompetence (they were even shooting each other after all once or twice), maybe because they simply dont care and have assumed that the separatist artillery was in that location. As for that bus shelling, apparently the attackers were captured, so did not disappear into thin air. And as we know provocation, sabotage, and similar actions behind the front line are part of warfare.
-
So rebels would just fire Grads at their own city and the civilians wont notice that? They would instantly lose all their support, and that means open hostilities with the people in the city, no food, partisans and so on. But yeah, Donetsk seems te be shelled by itself all the time, at least thats what the ukrainian government say, and that must be true. @beastcat: thank you for the summary.
-
I do not understand it as well, you have to start at 1:00, it is where the firinig starts. From there its pretty much self explanatory.
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UA5R58tAik&fmt=18 Ukrainian army "returning fire" with a GRAD on Donetsk. EIDT: start at 1:00 min.

That very same report states following: Regarding ukrainian based websites: I was refering (I did say it too) to the Human Rights sources you cited.
-
Really linking to facts posted on a ukrainian based website (even called Human Rights one) doesnt prove anything as Ukraine is as biased in this case as Russia. And please dont come with free press in Ukraine, I still remember videos of ukrainian new truth minister beating and forcing the chief of a television channel to resign because he dared to broadcast non government approved program. But anyway its pointless to argue, since everyone will keep to his opinion.
-
So I should only believe what the Poroshenko TV or Obama TV say, because thats the absolute truth coming from our democratic free mass media? Not like the so called "Putin TV" was the only one that reported on that case, everyone else was claiming the demonstrants have put themselves on fire. And no one on the german media has said anything about thugs who were murdering people who managed to get out of the building. Most of the google results point out to a "strangled pregnant woman", the only source which states that she is in fact old and overweight is here: http://observers.france24.com/content/20140513-strangled-woman-odessa-photo-ukraine I agree her clothes look rather strange for a young woman and would rather belong to an older woman. Still that same source says that judging by her pose it is very unlikely that she died due to smoke or fire.
-
So bombing residential areas and killing civilians is avoiding excesses? Oh I forgot that were of course the separatists thet were constantly shelling their own people while fighting the government forces, all ordered by Kremlin. That strangled pregnant woman in Odessa was a fine example of a russian terrorist on vacation in Unkraine. Wait she must have strangled her herself.
-
Well it doesnt change the fact that people were beaten to death outside of the house. But it was discussed many times already.
-
Yes because the ukrainians are famed for POW abuse themselves. They also like to burn innocent people in a house and beat survivors to death. So everyone is behaving just like they expect the other side will behave.
-
Thanks both of you. From what I understood the "proofs" are of the same sort as "we have bullet-proof evidence of blablabla, but we wont show it you, you have to believe us just so". EDIT: Kiev has blamed the rebels as always for the shelling (without any investigation yet again). Seems those rebels are so sure of their cause, that they like to bomb the people they claim to protect just for fun, not fearing to antagonize those people towards themselves  http://www.n24.de/n24/Nachrichten/Politik/d/6027370/-russland-muss-die-terroristen-stoppen-.html Translation: "Peaceful ukrainians die because of such terroristic actions. Russia must stop the terrorists", posted the foreign minister Pawel Klimkin on Twitter on Thursday. Translation: Shortly after this tragedy the rebels in Donetsk have reported the arrest of multiple suspects. According to them these men are responsible for the crime.

http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?236054-MPnet-Great-Flame-War-was-The-Original-Butthurt-thread/page8008 http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=229293&d=1421913981 (145 kB) According to one user on that forum this post "explains" why there are no photos or videos of russian forces in Ukraine, but since it is an image I cant use google translator. Can someone give a more detailed summary?
-
Ah the most important info is that it will be a FREE update :D was kind of worried about that, seeing how everyone charges 15€ for a weapon DLC nowadays. The improved performance, unified front end and simulation .exe, more detailed tree models with collision for new maps, and the existance of new maps at all sounds especially great. That the Black Sea map wont get new trees apparently is not that great though.
