    Boxed Version

I agree with lazerath, and in fact I will happily pay the boxed version to support a little bit more this great development. :)

BIS, I don't have any market study but don't you think it would be beneficial to everyone if you, that is BIS, provide us, that is the TOH Community, with at least a Czech Republic store willing to ship worldwide (in English please, Google translate is fine but when it comes down to contracts it puts me a little bit nervous) so that We can have the boxed version ASAP rather than waiting for the standard local distribution? Isaac
  4. Oh, now I happen to be emotional, I can't hold myself, ooh I'm so happy :pet5::cry2:
  5. I'm wandering if BIS people would be soooooo niiiice :notworthy: to provide this bunch of fans a estimated upload hour for that wonderful file left from the preload? I know, I konw, I'm an ass kisser... :p
  6. Glups, I hope this doesn't mean that we all should redownload everything...
  7. Yes OMAC, you should first uninstall the beta and then install the final. I'm unsure about the folders... BIS?
  8. I hope that being German he is downloading from DK and not from GB. Yes, for you all out there trying to download this, GB server is not working fine, please use another one :D
  9. Ha ha ha, answer from the CEO in 3 minutes, yuhuuu I'm the preferred one (provably to be banned :o). Would you mind to send me the EXE? I promise not to use it (gosh this remembers me the nights before Santa's when I was a kid, lurking in my parents room...) :D If you are a kid, keep in mind that I was lurking in my parents room just as a coincidence, Santa's for real heee.... :p
  10. Aaaah much better! :) I'm getting 1000 to 1500 Kb/s from the UK server muuuch better now! now it is only 3 hour!! This night I will not sleep :pet11: Ouu ou ou, wait a second, this download does not include the exe right ? :banghead: that hurts.
  11. Stop sucking my bandwidth you bastards :292: 100Kb is depressing me, 34 hours
  12. Hey cmon guys, let's be optimistic they will preload at the same hours the uploaded the beta (evening)... Oooh yess, continue BIS right there (slap) oh yess another one, I still don't feel the pain...
  13. MadDogX is a dead man. :638: :681: :icon_slap: :bitch: :protest: :936: :aa: :pistols: Only BIS can avoid this assassination by sending the preload email today AND excluding MadDogX
  14. Well, the preload was supposed to start yesterday. (which is exactly when I started the dructing :pill:) Jeez I'm having hard time trying to keep my mouth shout, I'm dead! :banghead:
  15. Konyo don't repply to my post, now my balckberry got an email from bohemia because of you and that caused me a heart attack!!! Stop that mate, it is not nice, I will end up in a mental institution :D PS: Yes, I know, I'm supposed to be dead (hanging from a rope actually), and dead bodies don't speak...

    Ifr

While I hope IFR is implemented in a future patch or version 2 I don't think it's going to make it in TOH release. To the person that asked what "IFR" is, some one else answered that IFR is for marginal conditions (low visibility), that is not representative of the actual reality, 99% of the commercial flights fly under IFR rules even if there is unlimited visibility. IFR only means a flight that will be navigated based on instruments rather than on human view (VFR). Because of GNSS constellations, today, is possible to fly as IFR the en route, the terminal and the approach phases of flight anywhere in the world thanks to RAIM FDE algorithms that ensure the level of accuracy of the navigation solution. On the other hand most helicopter flights happen in VFR or controlled VFR conditions although we are seeing more and more cities regulating under IFR for security reasons (darn terrorism).
  18. Hi, I'm not really sure if this has been asked / discussed before, I have tried to search on the forums and the webpage and I didn't find anything... I'm curious on how TOH Multi Player capability has been designed, that is: How many simultaneous players are the servers designed to handle? Is the approach MMORPG like where we have a continuous living world with day cycles and the players kind of solve their missions on their own or it is the other way around, little games with a bunch of players playing cooperatively (can that be with helicopter missions?) We will see the typical ArmA freedom? Will we be able to go from our helicopter to someone else helicopter, then be a copilot and 5 minutes latter use a FLIR camera? Thanks Isaac

    Spektrum DX8

Hey Liquidpinky, what walkera do you have? I got a Walkera V450D01 and it is a joy to fly!
  20. Hi Dale, I was a FSX heli addict, now I have uninstalled all FSX + addons (Nemeth bros) to clear as much HDD to improve TOH texture loading. One word of caution, except DODOSIM and some (very few) helos out there, even in TOH beta the helicopter flight model is waaaay better (expert configuration) than in FSX. Believeme You will not regret, imagine FSX with a decent 3D city (assuming you have a decent computer) and active missions + proper multiplayer and a editor (and comunity) that makes addons a reality in no time... If you are still reading my post, mate you have a problem. :D

    Download speed!!!

Thanks gonk... I was going to jump in to his neck for banging, but your theory makes more sense.

    Winch Ops?

Although I have seen a lot of SAR4 influence in your post... darn it is potentially utterly cool! :o Dear Santa: Because next year BIS employees will all park a Porsche in their parking lot due to the incredible amount of money TOH will bring to their accounts I wish those obscene desires become a reality
  23. I have been comparing the location of the signs in the TOH beta map and all the helipads locations are identical to the FAA database except one: ID:WA75 NAME: FLYING 'O' RANCH COUNTRY: KING CITY: City COVINGTON TOHX=51730 TOHY=05008 TOHLat=47.65482846 TOHLon=-122.7262225 FAALat= 47.65330556 FAALon= -122.9249722 The real world place where TOH is marking WA75 actually is Apex Airpark TOH map mark is 14,4 Kilometres due East (negligible Lat offset) from FAA location. Should I report this as a bug, after all the other 46 markers are as per FAA coordinates or is a creative license? (Side note to non initiated readers, the FAA list is a big piece of that except on the big airports is more often than not wrong by tenths if not hundreds of meters) Isaac

    Fire-Fighting Missions?

Hi All Guys, Happy to see that the thread is not becoming incendiary (mmm sorry I had to say it... :D ) Fire is CPU intensive, let me put you a beautiful example, this is one of the best 2D fire sims I have ever seen in applet form: http://www.escapemotions.com/experiments/fluid_fire_3/index.html While playing with it, check the CPU usage... Certainly there is a scale factor on the simulation, the sim I have linked is a micro fire simulator while TOH is a big one. Just think in the following: When the fire reaches a road what happens with the cars? How do you simulate the ground fire teams? Flame, smoke and water (from the bamby bucket and the ground units) should be interacting in real time. What happens if you lose control of the fire, it should end up burning half Seattle map? The bigger the fire the bigger the thermal turbulences that drive the smoke and that also affect the helicopter. The fire should change the winds as in real life? The fire should go faster uphill? The fire should go slower in green grass than in dry woods? Can the fire jump from tree to tree if there is a road in the middle? If we are on a valley can we have a the chimney effect? (potentially explosive) What happens when the fire hits a gas station? How much heat handles our helo? No mistake, I do agree with you, static fire is "easy", dynamic one (read spreading forest fires), not that easy to code. By the way the screenshots look nice. :pet13:
  25. Hi Maruk, I find your comment interesting, specially the part where you say that the load of each core is not representative of the benefit, so: Should I understand that the more cores available, the more parallel processes Real Virtuality Engine (RVE) will start? (I guess there is a limit but provably not close to today CPU number of cores). If there are only two cores available then only some of the RVE processes would be started leaving some secondary tasks as never started? (the following computational cycle would be too late to start the process) As a conclusion is it acceptable to say that someone with only two cores is not going to see a lower performance than someone with four cores (assuming same platform) but it will see a less detailed/rich simulation? Maruk, beside my questions, and as I already stated to one of your workmates on the phone (offline activation), thanks a lot for your work, it is very much appreciated :)
