  1. All,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I can't find pertinent information anywhere else.

Me and some friends are looking to buy some game server space for Combined Operations, and we're not sure where to start. We'd need at least 16 player slots (preferably more) and the ability to play any custom missions I make.

Where do I go to get access to a server that can do this, and does anyone have any specific recommendations? Google just turns up a lot of BS that doesn't really seem trustworthy to me.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Were it up to me the Barrett, AS-50 and KSVK should operate like static weapons (ie, you have to stop and set them up to use). Being able to run around with a 30-lb Barrett is totally ridiculous and reminiscent of the morons in CoD who clear bunkers with them. You can't fire an anti-materiel rifle from the shoulder, it just doesn't work that way.

  3. really,,, u just made mission difficult into mission impossible.... y do u have to take away the 1 thing that every 1 enjoy doing, can we hav some fun blasting zombie n not having to worry about running low in ammo??? what can u do in this sandbox mission? kill and kill more~~~

just look at how u and ur friend play what weapon would they chose, m4 or ak? all my friends chose russia weapon the reason is obvious and not like they hav a choice, cause there isn't any blufor ammo truck. yeah u can scavange from cars but most likely u would only find a clip or 2 from a vehicle and hell they never fit ur gun... then horde come u use up all ur ammo just to get away....

r u trying to make the game more realistic? hell reality man even this mission happen in america u still wouldn't find guns and RPG!!! in every car...

this mission is way difficult enough already as it is, zombie run as fast as u, horde spawn zomb all around u even place u hav clear already or at ur face, zomb that can kill a LAV just by their bare hand!!! it is especially worst for people who dosen't kown the map all that well...

    I hate the internet.

It gives dumb people the ability to yell at the rest of us.

  4. Weaponry is a personal preference thing. I've read accounts of South Africans and Rhodesians praising the FN rifle, and the same with Brits praising the 7.62mm SLR. One SA guy said that people use the R4 5.56mm (Galil) assault rifle, but never feel the emotional attachment to it that they did their R1 7.62mm FNs.

Same goes for Americans in Vietnam not wanting M16s etc.

  5. I'm lucky in that my university supplies students with every Microsoft program under the sun for free. You guys should see if your college does it or if they have an option for alumni to do it.

To name just a few: Windows XP Professional, 7 Professional (desktop runs this), Office, Visio, Project, Visual Studio, SQL Server, etc. All the latest editions too. They even offer Office for mac. Fantastic!

  6. Also, in COD I never had to really read a map or plan more than 10 seconds ahead (and even planning 10 seconds ahead is rarely needed, mostly in campaign, never in multiplayer).

A CoD player will never have to use grid references (even the slightly dumbed down form in ArmA, still same concept) or compass points, and will never have to know how to read contour lines on a topographic map. Therefore, it is an inferior game.

I played ArmA for about a year before I went on a trip to Colorado. Bought a US Geological Survey map of the area we went to, and lo and behold I can make perfect sense of it when everyone else is hurriedly pulling up Google maps 3D on their iPhones.

ArmA makes the traditional tools of the military officer relevant. Map, compass, binoculars, watch, etc.
