  1. Played this today with some guys online, using my computer as a listen server.

11 players, two of which managed to find military vehicles (one a HMMWV with an Avenger and a UAZ with DSHKm). Those two drove to Devil's Castle and cleared it out, then set up shop. They then placed a map marker reading "SAFE ZONE". As we all invariably headed there, they stopped every new arrival at gunpoint and demanded all their bandages. Those who didn't comply were shot... needless to say this wouldn't stand, so a group of us got together and attacked them (by now their group had grown to 5 men all well-armed), and we ended up barely being able to kill all of them before a JIP guy drove up in a civilian car trailing about 50 zombies. During the resulting firefight we all died.

It was hilarious. Thank you craig.

  2. What island do you guys normally play it on? I usually do Lingor but recently switched to Chernarus and encountered a lot of problems with the escape helicopter spawning on top of a mountain but clipped into a bunch of trees.

Also, it seemed like the escape helicopter spawned within 500 meters of our starting position. I know it's random but it felt way too easy!

  3. Brilliant, I can't wait. We've played it several times, usually just two of us but once with 3. Friend and I actually got spotted near the Devil's castle area and managed to fight off 35 enemy (total killed between us) before finally being killed by a BMP-3 (we had no AT weapons).

One thing we noticed was that if we restarted, sometimes the guarding squad at the very beginning would kill us while we spawned. This is fixed by restarting the server.

This mission is fantastic and with the bugs fixed I will really enjoy it.

  4. Hey there Craig,

While playing with I44 enabled I get massive lagspikes as a listen server host. I have a feeling it has something to do with the total conversion nature of the mod.

Will give it a try with I44 disabled tomorrow. So far I really like what you've done. Roommate and I start together and do the sidemissions whenever possible. Great stuff.

  5. Great mission, though we ran into a problem... all the enemy soldiers at the communications posts are captive! They all stand there with their hands behind their head and don't react to us. Very disappointing after a quite successful escape and evasion game that lasted 45 minutes only to find that the game screwed up! I know how much of a pain in the ass A2 is about mission design so this is obviously nobody's fault, I just wanted to report it to the mission designer.

We are running A2 Combined Ops v1.60 playing LAN with my computer hosting it. No mission problems other than this. Great mission otherwise, probably one of the most fun missions I've played ever! Kudos for great work and I'm sure the captive problem has a fix.

Does anyone know if savegames work well with this mission?

  6. This looks great. My housemate just bought a new PC so we've been playing A2CO and I might have to give this a shot.

Does it still work on other islands just by changing the mapname in the folder link and recompiling?

Also, I've fooled around with some of my point-to-point travel zombie missions using Inv1944 weapons and it's pretty fun. Only problem is that it requires the (IMO) massive 1944 mod.

  7. great fun BIG thank you for ur time and effort to make and share this mission

    feed back

just great fun, no complain, n i don't c how it could improve any more.... same goes to the Radio Relay version... (just the Radio Relay version is way lot harder, some how the Zomb able to detect u from lot lot further distance)

    bug

only 1 i hav spoted so far... some how only the leader slot is able to get the end trigger to work i ment, only the leader can unlock the plane or fix the radio... other slot player can still c the pick up key or fix radio option at the scroll menu, even play the dialog and music but dosen't unlock plane or fix the radio.... THOUGH ( it was NOT running on dedicated server, just hosting it on some people pc)

Gah, I tried and tried to fix that in the latest version. Guess it still doesn't work. I'll take a look at it this weekend and see if I can get it working. Glad you liked it. :)

  8. I love missions like this. I made a similar one on Fiji where you play as Tanny and Dixon (who else) and have to fight ION patrols etc. I quickly learned that all the Rambo and Far Cry bullshit will just get you killed (like in real life) and had to totally rethink my approach. I found out that the most fun thing to do was to sneak past patrols, ambush lone sentries, do hit and run tactics, etc.

IMO much more fun than conventional force-on-force stuff!

  9. Cool that you do more zombie missions !

But i think the BETA patch is needed to get the civilian zombies working because the ability to disable the FSM.

    _zombie disableAI "FSM";

    http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/disableAI

Is this why they randomly lay down?

I mean... I'm not complaining... ;) The civilian zombies' habit of laying down has saved my ass more than a few times!

I will take a look at adding the FSM thing and try to update it with the next release. I am very busy today so not this afternoon but probably tonight.

Thanks guys! I like making small, simple zombie co-op missions. Celery's scripts allow you to easily populate the entire map with randomly spawned zombies which is perfect for the type of adventuring (land navigation, weapons scavenging, etc) that is not present in many zombie games. ArmA2+Celery's zombies basically created my ideal zombie game!

  10. COOP 2 Radio Relay v1.0

    By Colosseum

    Map: Proving Grounds

    Players: 1-2

    Story:

You and your comrade have been sent to repair a damaged amateur radio repeater system in the old proving grounds. Your standard hand-held military radios don't have the range to establish communications past a few miles, but the repeater can be jury rigged for over-the-horizon coverage. Your commander wants you, the only officer in the platoon with any knowledge of radio, to get to the repeater and repair it. You camped at an abandoned farm last night, and have planned to step off this morning at first light.

    Description:

This is a cooperative zombie mission akin to Chernarus Apocalypse by Celery. The players must work together to survive with the odds heavily stacked against them. Average play time is about 10-15 minutes. This mission is considerably more difficult than my previous zombie missions: even as the creator (knowing where all the ammo caches and supplies are located), I can only beat it about 1/5th of the time!

Mission works like this: get to the custom-built repeater tower (look for an antenna on top of an illuminant tower... sorry, best I could do...), fix the repeater with an action, and then escape. I am a ham radio operator so figured I'd throw a mission together around establishing reliable communications (which is what repeaters do). Fairly straightforward mission and challenging even for experienced and advanced anti-zombie players!

    Features:

    Addon-free but convincing zombies

    Player characters have unique equipment

Custom healing script with shareable bandages

Zombies may drop bandages and magazines

    Pistols are accurate

    Selectable friendly fire damage rate

JIP players start close to the group

Character gear, bandages and damage are saved in case a player disconnects

    Spectator mode after death

You can continue the game after dying by picking a new character slot

    Credits:

    Mission: Colosseum (Ian)

    Scripts: Celery

Apocalypse series concept: Zipper5 and Celery

Noises and screams: Thief II: The Metal Age and freesound.org

    Requirements:

    ArmA2: Combined Operations (or equivalent)

BAF (recommended, but will work without)

PMC (recommended, but will work without)

    Community Base Addons

    Installation:

Put the pbo file into your ArmA 2\MPMissions folder.

  11. I did.

Because the mere existence of zombies in an official release of a game makes me embarrassed to own it.

Once we had a proud community of clever individuals who like realism and cooperation. Now we have requests for zombies.

    Video games: super serious business.

  12. All,

I have a mission where a player can "take the keys" from a dead helicopter pilot. I want it so that when the player takes the keys, the action disappears for everyone else, and a globalRadio text is played saying "I've got the keys". Problem is that whoever executes the take the keys action on the pilot only sees the globalRadio on his machine.

    Any way to fix this?

  13. Might want have a chat with the big C before you go to much further, just out of respect, he and zipper worked pretty hard on all that.

Understood -- hence why I am hesitant at all to divulge his secrets, or at least what I have obtained from the murk of the ArmA2 scripting language that I still have trouble with. But I will direct anyone to the notice in the Chernarus Apocalypse missions:

You can use the scripts in your own missions if you give due credit.

I have commented the scripts to the best of my ability so figuring them out is preferably your job.

I reserve the right to be the sole maker of "<place name> Apocalypse" zombie missions that use this script base.

    Thanks,

    Celery

My missions are credited properly (more so than they arguably should be), but any new mission makers should take due notice of this caveat.

  14. I just de-pbo'd Celery's missions using the Eliteness PBO extraction tool and reverse engineered the scripts. Most of his stuff is well-commented so it's not too difficult to figure it out.

PM me if you'd like a detailed description of what to do. I'm not sure I feel totally within my rights to discuss how someone else's scripts work. Let's keep this thread focused on the mission. ;)
