  1. In addition, they missed out on a variant of the Rafael RCWS-30 Samson on the Namer, you can throw that up there.

And an even better pictures for you to use for the Merkava 4M:

  2. Operative;1962699']I thought the same' date=' and I'm following too Surefire and Magpul quad-stack magazines.

22 STANAG magazines equal 660 rounds. It's not that much. I don't know how it will be distributed in the squad, and if it counts magazines to be left in the vehicle.[/quote']

I understand about the number (660), but having 23kg of magazines alone pulling at the from of your vest is a job that no one will volunteer for, might as well keep the SAW with it's slightly higher weight but evenly distributed ammo load.

  3. Uh, I think you're wrong about the reloading thing. For one, in real combat it is wise to stagger your shots (between squadmates) so that everyone doesn't go empty at the same time. And, given that, it does affect others who are laying down fire because that's less shots going down range. I'm in Army ROTC, and I've been advised to let other squad members know when I'm reloading. It's not completely pointless.

Indeed, you are always advised to scream out "reloading" or "jam". The reasons are two-fold:

1)- So they [squadmates] know that you can't cover them at that second and won't advance or retreat until you have reloaded. On the flipside, they know to cover you (and your sector) as well till you are ready again.

2)- So they know you have not been hit. If you had not screamed out "reloading" then all they would have noticed is an abrupt cessation of firing from your position which may distract your squadmates to check if you are injured, etc.

  4. Operative;1958344']off-topic (a bit): I've read that the M27 (IAR) automatic riflemen will carry 22 30-rounds magazines as a basic load-out. I really don't know if it does include magazines inside the backpack' date=' but 22 magazines is way more than the current riflemen load-out, so it make me wonder if they will receive some different vest or anything.

This is a good example of possible customization ;) (the different roles in a squad).[/quote']

    That can't be right.

Nearly 23kg of ready to reach ammo in magazines? From what I've heard is that they are looking into Surefire's 60 round quad-stacked magazines.

I don't really hope for that, so much as having the magazine you're using be the one in the weapon. IE using a Beta-C magazine in a G-36k or something. Having it change reload time would be nice too. I imagine putting a 30 round STANAG in an M249 would speed up reload times quite a bit. :p

You have to change the gas setting for that to work.

  5. How so? I've seen all those videos of round after round (and hand grenades!) being used on it without penetration, also rember this is the future so it could be assumed that whatever issue dragon skin has, its been fixed by now. Or atleast some of the scale-design tech could be used on other more reliable materials that may be less (or more!) powerful.

Dragon Skin is not reliable under hot temperatures (think: desert, Iraq), it failed to stop incoming rounds.

  6. A few things to note:

1)- Both Merkava tanks (NATO and OPFOR) were using Israeli camouflage. The NATO one was using standard Israeli OD Grey/Green, the OPFOR was using an older and rarely used Israeli camo scheme.

2)- Both tanks had Trophy, although the OPFOR also had an Namer AFV.

To be honest, I have no idea where BIS is going with this.

  7. I´d like to see something like this too. The AI right now only knows two states, either it knows where you are, or it doesn´t know where you are. IRL, most of the time you "approximately" know where the enemy is, which is why so much ammo is expended for each kill (was it 2000 rounds? I don´t remember where I found the statistics, nor what they stated).

In Vietnam it was roughly 50,000 rounds per kill, or around $60,000; but snipers averaged 1.3 rounds per kill, or $2. ;)

  8. As much as I am looking forward to the Merkava 4M with Trophy, I am even more excited by the prospect of the Namer with Iron Fist. Imagine thinking the APC will be an easy kill for your tank, only to have your KE shell blasted out of the sky (or bounce off) and having several Spike missiles rain hell on you.

  9. Having thought about this for a while, my own rivet counting has led me to believe that the Merkava being Natos main battle tank makes zero sense (without knowing the story.) Can you imagine the french going "Sure, we´ll buy Merkavas."?

Thus, Right now I think ALL vehicles and weapons we´ve seen so far were included not because they make sense from a logistical and political point of view, but because they´re COOL.

And that´s fine by me. If we also get a nice explanation why everyone is running around with IDF equipment, that´s icing on the cake.

Well I can see the Namer easily becoming part of the U.S. Military; hell, some of the are actually built by GM in the U.S. right now. Plus it would offer a heavy APC option that the U.S. has been sorely lacking for some time now (even the Russians have one)

  10. I don't care about funding but it's long past time Israel stopped stealing land in Palestine and everyone who gives a damn for decency should say so, often and loudly. If Uziyahu-IDF is suggesting Antisemitism is on the rise ("There are LOTS of people in Europe and increasingly in the U.S. who fantasize about killing Jews/Israelis") he and his countrymen might do well to wonder what's fueling that.

Stealing land... do you get hard every time you keep repeating these lies?

Quick question, if the West Bank is so called Palestinian, then why didn't they protest against Jordan occupation of it for over 20 years? If Gaza was so called "Palestinian", then why didn't they protest against Egyptian occupation of it for over 25 years?

I think we both know the answer to that.

Way back on March 31, 1977, the Dutch newspaper Trouw published an interview with Palestine Liberation Organization executive committee member Zahir Muhsein. Here's what he said:

The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism.

For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan.

And finally, this is not the forum to discuss such matters. If you want to continue this discussion then feel free to PM me.

  11. I just fantasize about the day the United States stops subsidizing Israel's military.

Fine, no Trophy or Arrow for you. :icon_rolleyes:

Seriously, if you have beef with funding anyone then start with Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, etc, before you start complaining about the one U.S. Ally in the region that actually gives something back.

  12. I think to be fair being hit by the trophy/arena will wess up a KE penetrators angle and possibly end up rendering it innefective against the armour anyway...

Only Iron Fist is effective against KE penetrators since it basically slices them in half or deflects them enough to make them loose their forward kinetic energy.

  13. Not really. Tank armor is much more effective at defeating CE than KE. The T-90 only has like 600m of equivalent armor vs KE.

The trick is that only other tanks use KE weapons at present.

The Merkava 4M has plenty of armor to defend it from local (regional threats) KE shells, the biggest threat against it is ATGMs and that's where the automatically reloading TROPHY comes in.

  14. The toughness of a tank in the game can be expressed in terms of the mean shots on target per tanks destroyed. If this makes the Merkava go up from two to four, or four to eight, or whatever, it's still quite significant. However, it would be very nice to have this present gameplay opportunities. Instead of soaking up ammo slots, it would be really great to have this system cause the player to out think it.

According to wikipedia, this system currently doesn't do so well vs. KE weapons.

TROPHY was not designed, nor needs, to stop kinetic energy weapons (SABOT, etc) as it has the tanks thick armor for that purpose. However, the Iron Fist system can intercept KE weapons.

  15. well if trophy makes an appearance then the rpg-30 will need to make one too.

RPG-30 is still useless against Trophy and Iron Fist. The designers of the APS systems already thought of this; the systems identify the type of round incoming (it can focus on several threats) and prioritize them for destruction. That way an incoming RPG-7 will be ignored an a Kornet will be destroyed if both are launched at the same time. Not to mention that the engagement rate is under ~500ms.

Just saying but NATO tanks should have this in the game, the US is already trying to implement this system on their current vehicles (in real life)...
The U.S. is/was developing a similar system, but when they tested Trophy, the Army didn't seem to like it for some reason. There are many who speculate that the Army had already invested too much in their own system and didn't want to give the money to a foreign company - despite the success of Trophy.

To the best of my knowledge, Trophy is the only active defensive system of this type that has been widely fielded.

Trophy was originally tested several years ago by the U.S. which found that it had over a 97% kill rate, even higher than the 95% claimed by Rafael at the time. However, politics intervened and the U.S. opted to wait for Raytheon's "Quick Kill" that never showed up in a fielded form (surprise, surprise :rolleyes2:).

That's why the U.S. retested Trophy recently on a STRIKER and found it passed with flying colors. They are considering fielding TROPHY on the STRIKERS.

  16. List updated . The M-ATV seems to be from Oshkosh .

The M-ATV is made by Plasan and marketed by Oshkosh.

;1948122']There is no M249 - looks more like some Stoner LMG modification... xD

Also F-35 is still version B - notice different canopy from A model.

Yeah the late B prototype version.. not really something you would find in the future

My bad on the M-249, I stand corrected.

However, the F-35 seems to be the A version since it has Air Force written on the side of it. Only the Marines are getting the B version.

  17. ohh boy now it will be a long list!

    http://www.zing.cz/screenshoty/2625/arma-3/image-43901#image=43902

check all those awesome pictures out!

OK, I'm going to start listing what I see:

    TAR-21 Tavor

    M-249 SAW

    Plasan M/ATV

Merkava 4M (In both Israeli Camo and Israeli OD Green)

Namer AFV (though without the Iron Fist system for some reason)

    RAH-66 Comanche

    "Hamok Hybrid" (Fictional)

    F-35A

One other thing I noticed, is the flag on the "enemy", seems to be Iranian hybrid. My guess is that BiS made a smart move, in order to incorporate the IDF (weapons and vehicles) but without actually including the IDF, they made it as if the IDF got overun and the Iranians are now using the IDF weapons. Just a guess.
