Judging from your avatar, you're an MOH fan, maybe. Just a suggestion. But, either, way, look at the links for the correct color. nice looking units btw.

    To comment on the OP: I would not like to see a Soviet invasion of Takistan DLC pack. I WOULD like to see a Soviet invasion of Afghanistan DLC, or Soviet invasion of [a fake country that actually looks like Afghanistan]

    Great. I'm not trying to rush you drmidnight or anything. Was just hoping this wasn't dead since this is the best looking unit addon I've ever seen. Do you have any plans to have that awesome beard (the one on the unit on the first page) separate as a glasses attachment? Would be awesome. Oh, and, looking at your blog, I saw you mentioned BDU, DCU, ACU, and Multicam. Are you considering PCU (protective combat uniform)?   11. yeah, but it can be done. Engine does seem dated, though. Would be nice if , granted BIS actually made an ArmA 3, a new engine was developed that was backwards compatible with ArmA 2.

    Oh, I'm not saying port the models. I'm saying if someone makes a unit with the same kind of combat vest and a pcu combat jacket and pants, and the same kind of helmet, then that isn't copyright infringement. Believe me, I could port the beards and the helmets and hats if I wanted to. Matter of fact, did that on my own just to see how it would look (don't worry, not releasing it as a mod as that would be copyrighted). I reskinned the dcu uniforms of the TF86 Navy Seals pack, but it just doesn't quite cut it with the PCU. The main thing is the maps, though. Specifically, the semi rocky, extreme vertical mountainous terrain. Like in those links I posted above. Terrain like that. Rocky terrain, and not just in texture. And the snow on the ground and stuff like that. That's all. Just think it'd be cool.
  13. Yes, in your honest opinion. However, for me, the "Afghan" style community maps haven't been the most authentic. They could be a LOT better, especially the mountainous areas. Enough with big hills. It'd be nice if we could get actual mountains, more vertical landscape, and tall mountains with flat areas, kinda like paths so that units aren't forced to scale up mountains.

    Well, mainly, I'm dissatisfied with Takistan and the Takistani units. If it was supposed to be a good representation of Afghanistan, they failed. It shouldn't be copyright to make units that look like the ones in MOH, especially the Seals, because all they're gear is real military gear and Danger Close has no rights to that gear. Anyway, its just a request. And, I've got some Tier 1 beards. Just they require transparency to look real, and Arma 2/OA can't handle transparency well. Check out THESE links.     My point is an addon that actually LOOKS like the MOH units. Most of what you mentioned are not satisfactory to my tastes. And none of the SFOD-D, community made or BIS made, are well representative of Delta Force. The Tier One pack is a joke, its just a bunch of reskins. I like it for what it is, but its nothing more than that. The Chechen Rebel pack is reskins too, if I'm correct. Ever played MOH? Check it out. Send me the link to that chechen pack you're talking about though. I know Chechens are not AQ, but they have fought together in Afghanistan. Go play Medal of Honor 2010 or watch single player videos, and you'll get a good sense of the units and maps that I'm talking about. I want something that visually looks close to that. MOH doesn't satisfy cuz its just SP. MP is nothing like SP, and ArmA 2 offers a lot more so don't say "just go play MOH". I want something that actually seems like Afghanistan not a rip off of some generic Middle Eastern desert like Takistan. Can't stand Takistan. It's a joke.

    Arma 2 Addon request thread

    Would like to see Medal of Honor 2010 - esque units and addons, like: Seals in MOH Seal Gear (the vests, helmets, grey protective combat uniforms), SFOD-D units (Dusty and Panther uniforms especially), Taliban/al Qaeda, Chechens (with the hoods/winter gear), TIER 1 BEARDS (like Dusty's and Mother's beards, especially), maps like Gardez, Shahikot Valley, Menjawar, Takur Ghar, basically a winter Afghanistan map (like in MOH 2010) with all those locations on that map (since ArmA2 maps tend to be big enough). A desert, mountainous Afghan map with light snow on the ground, as if winter just started. And not the low hills of Takistan that BIS likes to call "mountains", but like in MOH, mountains that have flat trails or small or narrow plateaus where units can basically walk along the mountain without having to walk up the mountain. A map like this could offer multiple gameplay options. Gardez and AQ camps for the CQB, and the more mountainous areas for the long range combat that could accomodate camping.

I'd say animation overhaul, weapon handling (including first person weapon perspective), high ready, low ready, cqb stance, quick reaction animations and handling, ui/gui as far as looking like a true first person perspective (peripheral vision i.e. blurry edges of screen, actually being able to see some of your hand/weapon at the low ready, albeit blurry).
  19. I've got a bit of a dilemma. I've looked all over this forum and Google, and I can't find out exactly how to go from the Arma1 sample head (the one released for Arma 2) to Arma2. I've got my own head model, but I haven't found a tutorial or anything on how to get it into ArmA2. I'm trying to make a new face and head for Arma2/OA, selectable in the profile menu. I've got the configs set up to read the new head model, but when I select it in the menu, Arma2 CO just crashes. I thought maybe it was just my model, but the default model does the same thing. A detailed tutorial on how to get this to work would be great, but, if not, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Yeah, that's not the answer I'm looking for. It might be, if the answer to the question above is yes, but I'm wanting to know how to make a NEW head model. Say I want to replace the African American head with a new head, an original model. How might I go about doing that. And, since you bring up transparency, how can I get transparency to work so that it doesnt do that above, the glimmering, flickering pixels? Look at the goggles on the helmet. It looks like a bunch of noise. Well, in-game, it's like a TV that can't get a channel so it goes gray with static. That's what happens when I use ANY custom texture with transparency. Nothing I've done, and I've tried about everything, makes the texture work properly. oh, and I'm not sure about image rules. So, if the image is in error, correct me.

    yeah. That's the one which isn't working. I'm pretty sure it's not a simple matter of referencing an Arma1 model in an Arma 2 config. But I haven't seen or found any tutorials on how to get the bysta.p3d model working in ArmA 2, unless my bysta.p3d is corrupted.

    Actually, I was talking about referencing a new head model when making a new face. So I'm just trying to get the head model itself working in Arma 2. The Arma 2 heads are BierdHead, DefaultHead, Pierce, Graves, etc. I'm trying to add a new one. And, using the sample head doesn't work. Maybe because of proxies, maybe because of something else. I'm not exactly sure why. But, when I use this head or use my own (basically swapping meshes), it crashes Arma 2.
