    Death Valley: WTF, BI

I'm just on this mission now on veteran and am just at the UAV stage (complicated or what?) but getting to the village took a lot of reverts, actually going through the valley is insane, the team got killed every time from miles away and myself no matter what cover I was using. In the end (after team got killed yet again) it was lone wolf, I went up over the left ridge, around the side and came down in the village, from there with decent cover I dodged between the houses and picked off the enemy who are some way out in front of the village itself, as they closed in on my position the allies in the house picked a few more off and eventually it was clear, actually took quite a while but was one of the more intense parts of the campaign so far. I'm still fiddling with the UAV had it up a few times, still working on it.
  2. If I remember correctly Hidden and Dangerous 2 from years ago, which was the only proper WWII tac shooter before RO you could not fire the Bren gun from a standing position you had to go prone and use the bipod.
  3. Forests are a real issue for tanks, also if you look at the way it's done in Steel Beasts pro which is the definitive and only modern tank sim, forests=disaster. Try taking your platoon through one and apart from the obligatory RPG toting grunt you will lose several vehicles to breakdowns with broken and damaged tracks etc, and if you do actually manage to get through one it's as slow as hell, like REALLY slow and even though you can still drive your tank you will almost have certainly lost some other ability from damage like some optic or sighting feature.

Fully animated squirrels and Pine martens and pluckable chickens.
  5. Yes, I'll still be playing Arma OA with mods, mainly because I love the environments and setting of OA, however I dont play the original Arma 2 (Chernarus) anymore.
  6. After the original OFP I never really dipped back into linear style FPS shooters the only exceptions have been the few memorable tactical shooters which did a decent job, namely SWAT 4 and Hidden and dangerous 2, the later being possibly my favourite tac shooter outside the Arma series, and lastly possibly the STALKER series which does a far better job than it's given credit for although it's niether a tac shooter or FPS to be honest.
  7. At least it's trying something new even for a teaser, I like it. It's not as if all the ingame trailers in the past have been great anyway, BAF trailer was particularly lame, they'll need to come up with something a bit more exciting than that later on.......
  8. One of the things I remember from OFP was during a mission I directed one of my troops down an alley, couple of seconds later I heard an explosion and all I saw was his helmet roll out into the road, at the time I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Dont know why helmets did'nt come off in anything after OFP as it's pretty damn realistic, in fact I even questioned if I saw it in the first place because I dont think it was that common even in OFP.

    Voice Acting???

Not just the acting, get rid of non-sensical phrases "unknown is history" type stuff.

Aspects of weather to improve, the rain/overcast graphics in Arma2 and OA is one of the worst I've seen in a modern game. No more robotic voices, please..... it was quirky in OFP 10 years ago but to be still hearing them essentially the same all these years later is a bit much, need more dynamic stuff in there eg Rug DSAI style as well as an overhaul of how the actual radio messages are presented (authentic sounding chatter)
  11. Does this work in standalone OA by any chance?
  12. A few more from Afghanistan (unexpected war)

    Screenshots nothing like the game?

Some lighting and maps look better then others, I played one user mission in OA that visually didn't look much better than the original Op Flashpoint, I kid you not, but that's an exception, most of the time the visuals are pretty impressive without everything being on highest settings.
