Fair nough, so I'm still waiting for BiS to fix Physics issues. SamB -

Well it was promised do get included with "future updates", so I'd imagine this is the one to fix the lack of it. SamB -

You can play civ missions with Mi 17, and I'd be awesome choppa to fly it escorted by Hind. As for western helicopters- Huey is on top of my wish- list; Blackhawk and Seaking are next... SamB EDIT: BTW @AZY How comes You know what "WE" need? It's kinda bold statement, don't You think? You also wrote "if it is a hind or any other hunky junky military helicopter from the past that has been done time and time again and been reproduced a million times YOU CAN KEEP IT !!! why are you developers so stuck in the past with your development ????? annoys me !!" Calm down man, there is a bunch of players who think modern helicopters with fly by wire systems and computers doin' half od pilot's job are not very challenging and wish to get something that's more difficult to control. " if you wanna fly military get ARMA 2" With it's arcadish flying physics? Come on... "but not old junk from the 70's"; "cobras,Comanche and so on,black hawks, bells and so on" Ekm... You know they started with Blackhawk You mentioned in 1974, don't Ya? First cobra was delivered in 1967... -

Dammit I really hoped for Mi-17. I am so not excited with Hind, gonna buy DLC anyway just because it's BiS... -
Its a shame this game is pretty much dead addon wise. I don't know what's the reason for it.

I like the view to be tilted down a bit (so I can see the front edge of the floor on the bottom of the screen), so every time I start a flight I have to move it a bit down with num 2. Is there any way to set the default view angle to my liking?
-
BiS should hire You;)

Does she have a sister?

@NS I find yaw balance just allright, i actually love it the way it is. The issue with translating tendency is another story, have to compesate for it with cyclic a lot. But overall I'd say if You could fix the latter one w/ o modyfying the first, it'd be great. Also what's Your view on autorotation with throttle cut? I can land, take off and land again (!). I know it is possible with Hueys heavy rotors, but should light heli be capable of this? Sam

AZY if You want to fly together I can do a quick multi fly for 15- 20 min if You wish.
-
I had the problem for few minutes, and then suddenly in the middle of the flight it was gone. Litereally... Then I kept loosing center point of joystick, had to recalibrate it 4- 5 times. Now everything seems to be ok. I used PBO file with Nightstalkers first update in it, maybe that was a problem at the beginning. But I can tell one thing- there surely is a torque and it's lot's of fun compensating for it. Sam
-
Hello I've used repacked pbo file with Nighstalkers first update from the other thread, now when I put new files intro TOH root I don't have enough left pedal to compensate for torque. I just spin arround and eventually crash. Can anyone help? Sam EDIT: NVM It must be some controlls releated problem as it is now gone and I get other strange behaviour with heli. Problems solved. Dunno why, but I had to recalibrate my joystick couple times as it keps loosing center point. Torque inducted yaw is finally really there. This is the most anticipated feature by me, glad we got it! Autorotations are so much easier than before. Aircraft maintains high rotor rpm if I decent with collective full down, co I can actually lift and land again after finishing flare with touchdown. Back to flying:) Thank You guys for Your awesome work!

This what I meant. If You own all three games, You could play with Arma guys using TOH.

how to include OA/Arma2 islands?

Too bad You're gonna pass on testing upcoming patch NS. Hope Your update is going to be even better than BiS patch! -
It's more of a question for developers. How about merging TOH into Arma? If You own Combined Operations and TOH, You could use i.e. light heli instead of Littlebird, all Arma's maps, weapons, vehicles etc would be usable so we could just play on Arma servers. I know it'd take a lot effort from BiS, but sales might have justify it.

I don't know about default FM, but with Nightstalkers modification it's very difficult to perform ar with engine cut off. With throttle to idle it's much easier. You might want to reduce speed to 0 (or very close to that) as skids have too much grip in TOH and You will roll over the heli. I glide at 80 knots speed with collective full down, then start to flare at about 55 feet trying to loose speed and don't sink too fast. If You had collective down You should have enough rotor rpm to make sort of soft landing by slowly pulling collective up. In my opinion the most difficult part are finding right attitude to begin flare, managing nose up level and then playing with cyclic to touch down. Just try free flight near airport and practice, practice, practice...

Does TOH realistically simulate torque?
samb replied to HeliHaole's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
I can do pretty much what I want with heli, but autorotation is still another challenge I cannot win with yet. After flying choppers in sims for many years now, I still find new things to work on with TOH. This game is amazing already, and with so many things still to come (new FM) it's gonna be the best ever. You'll love it. -
how to include OA/Arma2 islands?
samb replied to jumpinghubert's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
Well I just bought Combined Operations (even if I already had Arma 2) so I can use maps and give BiS some more cash. Flying Chernarus is a amazing! SamB -
I am using Driving Force Pro's pedals as rudder, and Thrustmaster Top Gun Afterburner II (with removed spring from cyclic and removed idle/ afterburner steps from collective and the latter mounted on the side of my chair so i can handle it more like a real thing). Gonna get TrackIR or try doing it myself with FreeTrack in about 2 weeks. SamB

converting helis from arma 2
samb replied to andygm525's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
External 3d model is separate from internal one, isn't it? Therefore how about simply putting external 3d model from arma 2 (solution for owners of arma 2 obviously)? For example we could put Bell UH-1Y Venom on medium helicopter... SamB -

@SpragClutch Just fly with trainee difficulty settings. Let those who want realistic experience have their fun as it's not affecting Your gameplay in any way. -
Autorotation training: you've got to be kidding
samb replied to OMAC's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
Any tips on autorotating using Nightstalkers FM? I find it best to maintain about 75- 80 knots on glide and to start a flare at about 50 feet. Also I glide with cyclic full- down. Too bad the heli rolls- over if speed is not close to 0...
