Possible High-Quality Helicopters for Selection - STRICT Selection
samb replied to CaptainAzimuth's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Do we really need to go down that futuristic road? There are so many great helicopters designed while ago and are used right now and are going to be used for many years to follow. -

Hi! Great project to work with TOH FM! Keep it up gents! -
Exactly! The only thing that worries me is "selective implementation of Take On Helicopter’s RotorLib Flight Dynamics Model". Hope to get exactly what we got in TOH. Maybe topped with missing Vortex Ring.

Yep, our dreams came true. See You airborne soon gentleman!

Following Nemeth Design on FB?;)

BiS really made my day with this news. I honestly did not believe we will be getting TOH FM at all. I cannot express how happy I am right now. FM would be usable with any helicopter, so I don't really care what will come with DLC (of course I am buying it no matter what). Have a nice day BiS!

I agree- that request seems to be about clickable cockpit, it doesn't mention FM. DO You mind if I simply copy paste Your request from that other tracker into a proper one daikan?

Thanks. How do I make a comment? I already voted btw.

Bump- I pretty much forgot about Arma 3 (I purchased preorder believing RotorLib is going to be a part of game), but now I see there are rolling out some updates for Jet's physics. I know these are completely different as RotorLib is much more complicated etc., but were there any news regarding giving us RL physics for helicopters? I am sorry if it was answered somewhere else, but search function didn't get me anywhere and I was not following forums that much for a long time. Thanks!

Oh, ok thanks. 3D model is not what interests me anyway. -

TOH 3d model? Or TOH Flight Model? -

Fred I really wish I could help You guys, but all I can do is keep my fingers crossed. My only experience with modding was 7 days wasted trying to use Arma 2 helicopters with TOH FM. With no documentation it was just guessing game, and I got some helicopters working while some were not for no apparent reason. -

Hello! I totally forgot about Arma since developers dropped pre release idea about TOH flight model. I just did a quick search to see if anything changed, and here it is! It is a great news, the best I've heard since UH-1H and Mi-8 for DCS. Hope Fred will be able to assist You, so we get an awesome mod for helicopter enthusiasts. I will be watching the progress very closely! -
Well now I regret buying this game. If I knew improved FM will not be featured at all, I would pass this time. I am out of here. Bye BiS.

Hi guys! So basically I was trying to get an answer for the following in all Alpha releated topics in general section, still no answer so far. It problably got missed by guys who can answer, so I decided to make a separate topic on that. We won't be getting TOH FM with initiall alpha release, I get it. Do You have plans for releasing it before, after or during beta? I assume that You are still going to include it at some point? Also how will it be managed from modding point of view- SDK won't get released straight away as well, but could You please give us a some glimplse into how RotorLib is it going to be applied to helicopter models in A3? Is using it with A2 models going to be easy? Also will vortex ring be introduced with A3? Hope to get some answers, thank You! Sam

If someone answers YES it means he wants an "advanced helicopter flight model for Arma 3". If he does, he will want HTR (which itself is explained in the first post here by Fred himself). -

Ok let's make things clear- Fred posted his "HTR based" modified lookup table for RotorLib a while ago. It was only a set of parameters to be used with current TOH FM, nothing more (still- that small changes improved flying experience a lot making it more HTR- like, and therefore more realistic). What we are talking about here is a full HTR threatment for Arma 3- meaning NO ROTORLIB FM, just HTR FM (check FSX to test how awesome it is). Arma 3 is supposed to get RotorLib in the future (my guess- beta as it is going to be focused on vehicles). It means it is going to be capable of handling helicopters with RotorLib given they have RotorLib applied to them via proper config. We are unlikely to get all default helicopters wit these configs, however these can be added by us to make it happen. As much as I am excited to get a RotorLib features to play with, I'd love to get a HTR instead, as I am simply interested in a realistic FM, which is already acchieved with HTR (not to mention it's actually easier to fly, so maybe some number of people who were discouraged with TOH will come back to flying helicopters after trying HTR). Also, for example we are still waiting for Vortex Ring to be introduced to RotorLib, while all features are already implemented in HTR not to mention dozens of ready user made profiles for various helicopters (including md500). -

If You have realistic FM on the easiest settings nothing changes- same people that crashed with current Arma FM will do it with simplified TOH FM (which is actually easier to fly than Arma IMHO). On top of that You get dedicated community with great flying skills- these will deliver ground troops and pick them up safely using advanced FM decreasing average accident rate. Then there are mods and other community content that will arrive with us... -

Fred- You're the man! I kind of understand if they refuse to get a "free help", but It'd be awesome if they could let You merge HTR even as external module (like FSX). Actually I'd say it's the way to go- I tried to explain that realistic helicopter behaviour is much easier to controll than people are affraid of (I think RL pilots would be in a lot of trouble if helicopters behave like TOH default physics); but there are so many whiners who cannot understand how You can easy fly with realism tuned down if You fly with kb/m. If we got an external module You could update and modify it as often as You wish, with merged sollution everything had to go through busy BiS (;)), and those affraid of it could just skip it (apparently switching it off in game options is too much of a hassle for them). On the side note- I already mentioned in on TOH forums, but I was contacted by one guy involved in an army training who asked me if it is possible to make an realistic hardware helicopter simulator within VBS. With HTR avaliable for Arma3, VBS version could probably be achieved too, and my explanation to that guy would be much less complicated, and frankly speaking- different... BiS- there is a vast group of helicopter enthusiasts who are very experienced with making and tweaking helicopter physics, give us a green light and proper physics would appear in a no time. No man hour (sorry, man months) required for Your physics programmer (no offence, but there are guys who were doing it for years now, and two of them made the best mods for TOH light model physics on their own!). I really hope for an answer here from someone from BiS Thanks! -
There is no VR in TOH yet. It was listed as one of the features to come with future upgrades, but so far they didn't keep their promise.
-
Well, there is nothing wrong with working for BiS, or BI Simulations;)
