3rd person view and difficulty levels
xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx replied to celery's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I play on 1st person most of the time because it just adds to the immersion. Third person is for long boring walks but I normally don't use it. I think anything about regular should have it disabled. -
I hate the way op for look more then anything, they look like bees.

Arma 3 (2040) will there be DLCs based on 2000/2010?
xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx replied to Danlord's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I hate this time and era with a passion, its the only thing I really hate about this game. The fictional guns, the suits, its just something I can`t swallow. I never liked anything futuristic. There are many wars you can choose from and they could have gone 2 maybe 3 years in the future and still use the same equipment as modern day but with some new enhancements. instead they jump 20 years in the future to create their own fictional war with fictional weapons. I praise BIS for everything else they did with arma 3 because its awesome, but damn BIS why did you have to jump into the future like COD. -
Can someone tell me why you'd make a game of 2013 very CPU heavy?
xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx replied to scaramoosh's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Why is it cpu intensive? Lets take an AI, we will call him bob. Bob is part of 8 man squad. His squad is tasked to move to hill, and defend it against the opposing force. Now bob spots an enemy. Bob relays the information by communicating with his team leader giving the position of the enemy. Bob now moves to cover independently and awaits for orders. He scans the horizon looking for more opfor in the general direction. The squad leader tasks bob with killing not the man he spoted but another enemy. Bob doesn't see the enemy so he independently decides to move to another tree to get a visual. Shots are fling back and fort and he manages to kill his targeted man, he relays the information back to the squad leader. Just then the squad leader is hit in the neck and killed and bob must take over command of the squad. He orders 4 men to engage and the medic to heal his teammate all while trying to return fire and see that his squad doesn't take to many casualties. Now in the brief scenario think of how many calculations were done to make bob function independently for 1 minute. Now multiply that For. Every. Unit. In. The. Map. Now multiply that for every minute that passes in your mission. This is why there is so many calculations. -

Please make "actions" more accesible ! i.e. open doors , climb ladders etc

They used this system in arma 2 and it worked wonderfully. Why change something that isin't broken? -
Why buy A3 just so you could go online and ruin everyone's experience?

just turn off grass in the setting no? I for one wouldn't touch a mission with grass disabled, but I understand your concern. Also what fps issue? -
Tutorial: How to use the Task Modules
xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx replied to Steiner34's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
First off, i hate the new tasks module, If it helps people no problem but I have been using the old briefing method and everything works fine except objectives not ticking off green when completed. hope they fix that soon. -
singleplayer: no crashes multiplayer; crashes every 5 to 1 hour (usually when looking trough gear)

Community interest in Rearmed for ArmA 3 (integration of A2 and OA content with A3)

To be dead honest I would rather have the mods, (ace slx asr...) ported over rather then weapons and vehicles. Lets be real in a few months there will be hundreds of maps units weapons ect, are we really going to go back to a2? -
Objective completion and briefing notes.
xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Does anyone know the script or code used to create briefing notes (diary records) it appears that it has changed As well as how to make it so the task is set to complete on your tasks screen, it has changed as well, when completing an objective it will show objective complete on the top right of your screen but it does green up in the objectives screen . Thanks in advance frostwolf -
Share your first Arma3 Beta Impressions (all first impression type posts here pls)
xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx replied to fabrizio_t's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
The game looks and feels amazing and fluid. Surprisingly I encounter a pretty small amount of bugs considering its an alpha. Editor is nice and has the same feel like arma 2 but there are some essential codes that changed and i can't seem to figure out how the new code. I don't see much of an improvement from the AI, and considering i played most of my arma 2 with AI mods it feels like a downgrade. BIS really has to go and take some ideas from the modding community and implement it in their game. multiplayer is much better and i have seen a tdm match role out like it was cod which is fairly impressive. overall good game looking forward for the future of it -

Group, Side and Direct chat.
xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx replied to kiory's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hello Kiory This is what you must do in order for it to work. Make lets say a group of 4 people. Call the leader unit1 Now make a trigger that is set to true on mission start, so for example but the trigger set to search for bluefor in 50m radius and put a blufor inside. Now on the activation put: unit1 setGroupId ["Delta"] Now anyone in the group that talks in side chat will have the name delta. You can't give it to every individual person because it is set that the group leader would use that channel to talk to other group leader and the hq. Now everything should work fine For some reason I couldn't get vehical chat to work out so far but I'm sure Ill figur it out hope it helped frostwolf -
"Authenticity" and Editor placement woes...
xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx replied to reclusive7's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Blufor might stay in opfor due to 2030. God I hate games that take place in the future, its the only downfall for arma 3 :( -
I don't know, some things are better, others sometimes seem worse. I remember shooting at a walking opfor and I was able to fire off 4 semi auto rounds at hi before e finally raised his weapon. I have also seen the ai (in my squad) refuse to follow any orders and just stand still. O ther times they are much better

The trouble with getting people into Arma
xx_fr0st-w0lf_xx replied to instagoat's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I have posted this in another thread but it applies here aswell 1) Bad advertisement. I Have never heard of anyone but myself that knew what arma 2 was before mentioning it to them. Nobody knows what kind of game it is, what platform what style. Sure BI may not big as other companies and rather not spend money on advertisement, which I am Okay with, but there must be a way to get it more known. Maybe youtube or facebook or other gaming sites where they can show off what arma 2 can really do 2) You need a very good PC Your standerd Joe pc gamer cant play arma 2, hell my friend who just bought his new gaming pc cant run arma 2 with more then 30 frames, imagin back when arma 2 came out. It requires way to much and it is a real pain to run this game with more then 40 fps. When I first got arma i was focusing more on improving FPS then actually playing the game. Sure given time dedication and money you can make arma 2 running like charm (and when you do the game looks beautiful) but there are not many people who are willing to put much hard work to make just one game run 3) Not user firendly So you found out about arma 2 and you got it tweaked to your perfrence now its time for you to learn the ropes of this game, which is much harder then it seems. The game has so many diffrent controls most that you will never really use. This can be itimidating for the new player looking to enjoy the game. When I first got arma 2 the first thing I started was training missions. On my very first one, while listening to my instructer a insurgent out of no where came and shot him in the face. I had no idea if this was scripted or a bug. I later found out the last part was to kill (or tag) these 3 men. Arma 2 can be very frustrating to learn. 4) Many bugs So you got used to the controls and your ready for some action. Chances are you going to be riddled with bugs of some sort. When I first started harvest red on one of the first scenes one of the character dissapeard from thin air. It sometimes skips over dialogue or triggers not reacting properly. Some missions are just unbeatable because of the bugs and you cant progress in the story unless you restart everything over. This can be real annoying. 5) Multiplayer When you first go to arma 2 multiplayer looking for simple match you will constantly get "missing mod....., missing island". You do not know what you need to do to get these things and when you finally do join a match everybody is usually doing there own thing leaving you to do what you have to do. The multiplayer the first time you play it is very unwelcoming. Once I joined a clan that all changed, arma 2 became the funnest game I have ever played, sadly being in a clan takes a lot of your time with scheduled events and training sessions and with manny real life issues I find it hard to keep up (that is why I had to leave ) Don't get me wrong I love arma 2 but not many people are going to go the extra mile to play a fun game. Arma 2 can be amazing when dealing with community addons and fun online clans but not many people are going to take the time and figure out how to do it. Most people say you need phD to play it and who am I to say they are wrong -
