ARMA 2: Community Configuration Project (A2CCP)
PeterBitt replied to maruk's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : ADDONS - Configs & Scripting
Wow it was worth checking this forum after a break, great news! Is there a complete changelog somewhere or are those 10 tickets on devheaven everything that is included? So PvPscene was kju all the time, I thought you left this forum? Nice job anyways :) -
Fantastic video! Jay Crowe is doing an awesome job mentioning everything the fans want to know and also good informations for new players. The demonstration was very well received by the gamespot guy: http://e3.gamespot.com/video/6381274/arma-iii-this-means-war?hd=1 Also i love the passion the BI guys have for their new game, iam so optimistic about this being the best game ever

Arma 2:OA 1.60 Release Candidate
PeterBitt replied to maruk's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
great patch, just played a little bit online with it and cant believe how fluid it is now. had great fun with some long range firefights against non-lagging and very responsive AI. havent been playing arma in a long time, with this patch iam having more fun than ever! the development of arma 3 is the best thing that ever happened to arma 2 :) -
is it possible to make random vehicle patrols and force them to stay on the roads until contact? i usualy use the USPS script but unfortunately the vehicles dont stick to the roads even in SAFE mode, they go off road all the time. some help would be much appreciated, i searched but found no answer :)

Random Patrols on Streets
PeterBitt replied to PeterBitt's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
thank you for the reply! i dont need to make convoys but single vehicles that patrol a given area, just like the USPS script does: the script is working perfectly exept for the little detail that the vehicles dont always drive on the roads, wich is what i want to have. is there a way to make the script place the waypoints ONLY on roads? -
yes this is the one, thank you very much :notworthy:

sorry for shameless bump, but where the heck was that pmc unit fix i cant find it no more? i mean the one that fixes the pmc units wearing black masks. thx!

ARMA 2: OA beta build 86194
PeterBitt replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
for me my AI mates with pistols or no weapons play the binocular animation very often while they dont even have a binocular. havent tried the betas for a long time so i dont know scince which version this happens but it not happens with 1.59. edit: looks like they use their NVG as binoculars -
i noticed that distant particle effects (like the arty explosions in the video) are not affected by fog and look like pasted in. is that for performance reasons or is it not possible to make particles be affected by the fog? i think it would be a huge improvement if the explosions didnt look as cut in as they do.

3rd person and crosshair - enable by default in MP?
PeterBitt replied to celery's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
100% agreed. just give us "mindless realism crowds" a proper veteran mode and i promise much less discussions on 3P, crosshair and stuff. and as reminder: also we need the difficulty settings of each server clearly visible in the browser. -
3rd person and crosshair - enable by default in MP?
PeterBitt replied to celery's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
what is DR? Dragon rising? than i dont understand why "hardcore" reminds you to DR  actualy hardcore may not be the correct word, iam no hardcore gamer but an experienced ofp/arma/arma2 player. iam not playing the games very often but i feel like iam a loyal customer of BIS games and would like to get at least the same attention as the new players get. whats the problem with splitting the servers to cadet and veteran servers, where cadet servers have all the helpers activated while veteran servers are forced to not use them? -
3rd person and crosshair - enable by default in MP?

well, the result of this poll makes me think a little bit better about the arma community! devs please seriously think about the difficulty settings again, with the hardcore players in mind. thx :) -
3rd person view in MP : be or not to be? (voting)
PeterBitt replied to woore's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
as it should be in a simulation: i cant use a BTR alone! this is just another important point that you got there: 3rd person view allows one man alone to effectively use a tank. in a tank you must have less field of view and situational awareness unless turned out! a full crew has much more fun and atmosphere when playing a tank from the inside and not looking at it from the outside. edit: ok yes, the BTR its impossible to handle in first person because of the bad model. -

PeterBitt replied to woore's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
at least i couldnt understand if a experienced player would be pissed to see a Veteran setting without 3rd & crosshair. as i said earlier, the most people use these features not because they wouldnt be able to play without them, but just because it makes life easier. if it wasnt implemented in the first place, no one would have asked for it. or do you dont play battlefield because you have no 3rd implemented? ...my english is just not good enough to state my point properly, if i would talk german you would all agree to me :D edit: 3rd person view and crosshairs are enabled by default for veteran. -
3rd person view in MP : be or not to be? (voting)
PeterBitt replied to woore's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
sure, that is why iam not telling the devs to remove it completely :p but a veteran difficulty wich does not allow amateur features like 3rd and crosshairs, would only be healthy for the game. there would be more cadett servers online and make the amateurs happy, and there would be veteran servers online that make the experienced players happy. -

PeterBitt replied to woore's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
no. (we heard this "argument" often enough) this is so sick, it should be the other way around: in a simulation you should have more actual simulation servers on than amateur ones :( this is so sick, in the forum for a simulation game the veteran gamers shouldnt be the minority :( -

PeterBitt replied to woore's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
if that would be possible on public coop servers we wouldnt have a discussion here. seriously, check arma 2 server browser and tell me how to find a proper veteran server with fitting difficulty settings. why cant i accept the other players to have 3rd on coop servers? just look at the way people play arma with 3rd enabled: running around like insane hunting for AI to kill, standing behind walls while scoping over them and sprinting into areas wich i can only approach slowly because iam not cheating against AI. iam not voting to remove it completely (even if i would love to see it removed), but i want the veteran setting to get rid of it. if BIS will implement different 3rd person settings, i could even accept 3rd for vehicles in veteran. PLS BIS, GIVE US HARDCORE/VETERAN GAMERS SOME LOVE TOO, iam sure the newbs you want to attract with ArmA 3 wouldnt mind to play in cadet mode while we experienced gamers will get a more serious public online experience. -

do not allow it to be enabled in Veteran/Expert mode (aswell as crosshairs) and visible difficulty settings in server browser and i will be happy. -

do not allow it to be enabled in Veteran/Expert mode. make ArmA3 veteran servers actualy playable for Veterans. -
Arma 3: Confirmed features | info & discussion
PeterBitt replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
the ability to exchange uniforms with OPFOR is not the feature iam looking forward to the most. its a little strange that a outpost with 2-3 guys dont notice when one of their mates has a new face after he returns from his patrol  i would like to see it implemented properly (like in hitman you should avoid to get close to the enemies + animations and voiceacting for enemies that notice you) or not implemented at all. -
currently dead trees arent even view blocks when i remember correctly. this must be fixed.

i disliked the transition from swimming to standing animation, when he left the water. i think it would be better if you had to pull out your weapon yourself so that you can get in and out of the water quickly with weapon on back, and dont have to wait for the equip animation to finish. i imagine hundreds of deaths when you accidently dive in too low water and the char stands up and does the animation while the whole beach is shooting at you :( also i noticed that you still slide up and down randomly when standing up after leaving the water, overall this transition looks not very good and has potential to be annoying (control wise, just like the swimming/walking transition we have in arma 2). edit: i know that its mostly old animations in the video, just hope that it wont stay that way.
