Previous Posting http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?133725-What-would-be-Good-for-Arma2oa-cfg-for-This-System Hello i have been playing with the default settings and i have noticed that some variations are better and some are slower (video lag etc) and well with the better settings it will play for a while then have the famous red chain and server time out (segmentation fault) can someone help me with the proper settings for the type of system i got. 1. linux dedicated server (Centos) 2. 12 terribytes of bandwidth (per month) 3. dual core processor 4. 4 gigs memory mostly i want to make it so everyone can play and have fun and not get the red chain etc. -

The Good the landscape and grass and tree's are great. the vehicle handling is great and hit damage rate The Bad Video > Rendering > Post Processing (slows down i7 computers) View Distance default to high (Lags default) Random Massive FPS Drop to less then 2FPS then cleans up after 1 minute Logitech Gamepad Default Configurations (not binded well default) Needs better friendly targeting (name tagging) for reduction of friendly fire. Small Rocks and Bushes still cause major vehicle damage (possibly less powerful small rocks) Never known a bush to take a tire off a car even in real life. -
GLIBC Issue Centos 5.8 Arma2 Wont Start, Has File Dependancy Error

Hello, It has been about 8 months since i had updated my Arma2 Linux server, but i went to fire up the server again for the game and i had installed the new Arma2 linux stuff and i tried to start it and it fired off a GLIBC error. I had this issue with another multiplayer server game as well and they just recompiled the application in GLIBC 2.5 since its cross compatible with 2.6, 2.7 etc I had contacted the Centos site and they said it would break your box if you tried to over-ride the glibc and update it to a 2.7 package or higher, you would have to basically wipe your whole system and install centos 6+ to make that work so is this going to be a issue so that way everyone is going to have to update there server boxes just to get the server online or will there be a hotfix for centos 5.X version systems? ./server: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.7' not found (required by ./server) ./server: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by ./server) ./server: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by ./server) This is Centos 5.8 64 Bit Platform Dedicated Box. -

i do think scripts and stuff have a major impact to take into account right when it comes to other bandwidth settings? since it has to pull data for everyone as well? i am still trying to fix my stuff, i have noticed it will run smooth for a while then if it runs more then 24 hours the FPS drops dramatically. -
Need help with Getting City Location Positions on Map

Hello i have a bit of a issue on a mission / map i am working on well you see the creator of the FSM scripts me and him are working on populating the whole map of chernarus with stuff and well for some reason its having a _room issue for a building does anyone know the whole position ID numbers for the whole map of chernarus its having a pos array issue we are trying to weed out a couple cities that possibly have bad houses in them. It is pretty interesting if anyone is interested in playing here is the server details below. Also has real Music added to game as in mp3s formatted into ogg format for a car radio system we have configured from a addon to a script instead. There is 4 preset bases you can come to and get weapons, park vehicles and or spawn vehicles to use on system, please note all pre-set bases are DMZ area's no TK in the bases, if you make you're own base well that is on you who you want to let into you're base and not let into you're base. Please note if you end up shooting a network admin be prepared for a interesting war against you since we have GPS and know where everyone is on the map. ABOUT MOD This mod is a dual mod mission that combines Cherno Life and also Dynamic Zombie Sandbox Combined with some extra toys and vehicles from armaholic and other sources that I have permission to use in the mission file and or as a mod. Please note when you enter the game if you plan to fly a plane, jet, helicopter or anything that requires take off and landing you must be on teamspeak with a working microphone unless otherwise authorized (if you do not have a mic). yes but what would that 70-90MB round out to be? as in minbandwidth= and maxbandwidth= i am not very good with the calculations so to speak. currently i have this in my arma2oa.cfg file but it runs good for a bit and i have the almighty red chain. here is a picture of my server details. -

so i been having some lag and a couple red chain disconnections keeps giving the ./server a segmentation fault error every few hours. What would be the best settings for this type of system for the arma2oa.cfg file for maxmsgsends, maxbandwidth, minbandwidth and other settings. Linux Centos Dedicated Server 100Mb card 12 terribytes of bandwidth dual core 4 gigs processor currently i was calculating like 512 or 256 x number of clients for the bandwidth settings but i am not sure about what the rest of the settings should be to optimize the system. -

Well its a ripped apart version of the old cherno life but it has stats save for cash and other things. some of the cop menu's do not work and well it does save stats as in if someone disconnects from server and reconnects they will have there licenses and money in the bank or in the inventory, but if the server crashes it goes back to default settings. -

so there is no way i can limit the bandwidth in the arma2oa.cfg file for it to balance itself out without people getting a red chain on the system i would like it to be over say 80 people on the server and i have a dual core, 4 gigs of memory and that bandwidth stuff so how could i make it work in the arma2oa.cfg file to reduce or limit everything but keep the same "user" count without having to tell the host to install a quad core in the server box. -

you do not seem to understand it would not go under /home/arma2/config/arma2oa.cfg open up your shell console under root access using putty, type in the following cd /opt then you will be in the opt directory then type in mkdir arma2 that will make the arma2 directory then upload your arma2 files and folders to that directory you just created. once you are done uploading all files to that directory then you can do what i told you above. Or : you can pay me to do it for you :P its pretty simple i pretty much gave you the dumb'd down version on how to do it, not very technical at all.. -

since you are running it in root, create a directory in /opt/ i would suggest creating a directory called arma2 then upload the files and directories from the server arma2 stuff to that folder, then you can do the following once everything is uploaded and so fourth you need to chmod -R 0777 arma2 from the opt directory so all files and directories in the arma2 folder are read and write, then you need to open the 3 ports that arma2 uses in your iptables for connections. then you can do the following to start you're server login as root like you normally do then go to cd /opt/arma2 then once you are in that directory do a screen so type in screen so it opens a new screen, then you type in ./server -config=yourconfigfile.cfg -cfg=arma2oa.cfg -cpuCount=whatevercpu count then that will start you're server (using root access) then you hold CNTL and hit D then A to un-attach the screen to go back to you're normal shell screen then you can check on your server by typing in screen -r and see what screen # it gave you then to go to that you type in screen -r # (# = whatever number) -
Dynamic Zombie Sandbox Now with Real Music in Game + tanks and 1 chopper

So many of you all know of the Dynamic Zombie Sandbox v9.5 mission. Well i was dabbling around with the mission file and i wanted to see what i could add to the mission to make it more entertaining. So i got the mod (Clay_CarRadio) and ripped that apart so it would work without users having to download the addon. so now all vehicles in game that spawn have a car stereo with over 15 songs you can listen to from my music sites, good news is when you download the mission file on our box you can just un-pbo the file and download the music directory its all CCC music so its legal to keep on you're computer and you can give it out to others. I added 1 helicopter mostly for transport around the map since its using cherno (big map) and also i added 2 bradleys, and for the spawn when everyone goes in together i added 5 more ammo crates since no telling if you get a random bad gun.. So come check out the MP Mission keep in mind its 85MB for the mission file size but it wont take but 2-3 minutes to download if you are on a quick connection my server got mad bandwidth. Server name [ChicagoMusicPromotions] - Realistic Zombie Server - Public (or just type in chicago) and look for the zombie map under CO... be sure to use combined op's when you want to play on this map. yeah i had some issues so fixed some things and added a couple markers for projected base camps people can use. since everyone cannot see where we setup camps mostly, also the radio was having some issues so fixed that and well removed a few of the choppers since it was lagging the network since the zombies are having force feedback issues when you fly over them. -

So i have been using Arma,arma2, arma2 OA, a very long time however i really never ventured on creating my own MP Mission / MAP and adding different units, vehicles and other things so i wanted to get some things out in the open and get some answers from the developers and or moderation team. Ok so i have played a lot of missions that require addons or mod folder and i have downloaded them to my computer so i wanted to see what was in all these PBO files so i created 1 general addon folder and dumped everything into 1 folder and i have found some pretty cool cars, buildings, units and other things and i want to use everything i like on my MP Mission i am creating However since i did not texture, model or make these vehicles or units where does that fall into copyright and also copyright laws and regulations since technically all items made for Arma2 Arrowhead would be under direct copyright under BI Studio's since you technically made the platform and people have just dumped there own designs and creativity into the platform. I have seen this a lot on the forums about people "stealing" this or that yet for most of the vehicles i have seen they are using major brand names on the vehicles as well like ford, chevy, subaru, tahoe and a assortment of other things. As for Scripts and stuff i would think as long as you keep the script in "tact" as in credits in the script that also should be under CCC since its made for the actual gaming platform its not exclusive to someones own game they have created and have copyright ownership (trademark) or registered under the copyright office for intellectual property. The only thing i am good at is just object (placement) and map redecorating or re-building and road placement. As for scripts and getting units to work properly and also vehicles to work properly i have been learning on the forums how to use the init line but i do not see my RPG map coming out anytime soon, i can say everything that will be in the map will be made by someone else i am just pushing the boundries making a new mission / map people can enjoy playing on arma2 arrowhead once its done and all these scripts i have downloaded over time are implimented. as for MPMissions Cache folder i have extracted some of the PBO's to see how they were layed out and made and that is where i got most of the scripts from playing online with a lot of missions. and also some that people have sent me. -
Looking for Expert Modder to Teach me using Oxygen 2 import from z3d

So i thought i would venture into learning about oxygen 2 and everything else i have had the tools on my computer forever so why not dabble with learning some 3d modeling. I have always delt with modeling to some degree using secondlife and osgrid.org but this is a bit more interesting. I have figured out how to export a z3d file to P3D file and import into oxygen 2 and then open it up with bulldozer to see the vehicle now that part works texture wise, and how the vehicle is laid out i am stuck on the part where you make everything work. I am looking for a teacher to help me using VIA skype using share screen or group call just when you can or you got extra time to teach someone new about this whole making vehicles and other objects work in arma2 OA. I wont take up a lot of your time i just want to learn a few things a day and when its all said and done i should be able to retain all the information and do it myself after some time. well i guess i am glad i got permission from a assortment of different RPG communities to use there scripts and addons. I always ask first anyways before using anything i just wanted to clarify the legalities due to the game platform being owned by bistudio's and theoretically anything made for a entity is owned by the entity in retrospect. Since if say a act of god happened and all the arma2 servers shut down all of everyone's addons and scripts would be invalid anyways. I have always delt with copyright but mostly music entertainment industry wise nothing ever video game content wise. -

Trigger for CfgMusic to play to "person only" not everyone on map / mission

i was just looking at that page here is what i got in my trigger activation section i have 3 different triggers in parts of the map that have a "music file" attached to each one of them and a hint when they come near that location. but the problem is the 2 closet triggers try to spit out the same data to me where my first trigger is at so something is not right, and when i fly over to that other trigger it does not activate since i got a "civilian" there so i put the trigger further away but it still played the music i want it so no one will hear the same music if someone flys, drives or goes near the trigger except for whatever person went over the trigger. axis 50 / 50 activation by : anyone activation type : present repeating : repeating Am i forgetting something before _target below? Activation Expression null = hint "Welcome There will be Music that plays when you first start, around the map there is triggers for other types of music so enjoy the island."; _target == player"]; -

so i am adding some OGG (Music) files to the map / mission i am creating and i would like it so if someone is in the trigger it will play to them only not everyone on the map or whatever, i have 4 places setup with music so far and they are at unit places so when someone loads into the game once its done i want them to be able to hear the song also when they hit certain triggers around the map the song will play to them only. and also if they leave the "trigger radius it will fade out. the song will only play in that "trigger area" is that possible and how would i go about setting up that type of trigger. like for example if they are driving through the desert and someone hits a trigger it will play a song for them while they are driving through the desert in that prospective trigger radius area. IF someone else is driving through the mountains it will only play whatever song designated for that trigger to whatever person is driving through the mountains. that type of stuff. but when they leave the trigger area the music will stop. (radius area)
