The 1% is so wealthy because our current system (we do not have a pure capitalist economy) allows them to hoard wealth so easily. Regulations and taxes actually contribute to the problem because it becomes more profitable to just hoard money than to actually invest it. The solution is to allow the free market to spread the wealth. If the 1% invests its tremendous wealth, that will create jobs and get the economy moving again. Of course, we need to go after the tax evaders, scammers and other financial criminals, but there is no need to "tax them until they scream" as walker says. Capitalism isn't the problem, it's the government. We need to reform the financial system, simplify the tax system and make sure everyone is playing by the rules. Any further intervention can be disastrous. It might not redistribute all the wealth as quickly, but it will ensure that we have a healthy economy in the long run. This problem was caused by government intervention. You don't solve that by intervening further. That would be like trying to put fires out by pouring gasoline on them. Yeah there's no denying that the top 1% pays more than the rest, regardless of whether you think they should pay more. Walker's claim to the contrary is pure propaganda.

I heard about this stuff before, it's a nice concept but it will take some time before it becomes commonplace.

And then imagine what BIS could do if they had Infinity Ward's budget...Anyway, my point is that BIS doesn't rip you off with overpriced games that are worthless in a year. My brother tried to trade Black Ops in for Modern Warfare 3 and they laughed in his face. Call of Duty games are like Paris fashions - they only last a year until the next line is released. Meanwhile, BIS doesn't charge an arm and a leg and creates a game that actually gets better with time. -
Nice... You totally ignored my previous post in which I said that, if the banks are taxed, they will simply stop lending us their money, which we need. They're corrupt as hell but they represent an important part of the economy. If they don't give us credit, somebody else will and I'm not to keen on going to the People's Bank of China to get a mortgage. Make a coherent counterpoint instead of repeating your rhetoric.

All that whitish stuff arranged in 200m-long lines? Just Charlie Sheen's daily dose of coke.

Maybe they will simulate global warming so that if you set the date far enough in the future, the island will be flooded :D

And stop lending their money because they will have none. Oh well, I guess we can always borrow some from China...

Yeah, it's completely stupid to waste money on new hardware when you haven't tried to lower the settings (as I said, NOBODY runs the game at 10k viewdistance).

They mentioned ferries and other stuff though, and I must assume that they need to eat/find a place to stay during the nights.

Actually, the Modern Warfare series seems to be more "United Kingdom fuck yeah" than anything. The Americans are portrayed as the fuckups (MW1) or warmongers (MW2). It's Captain Price and his crew that fixes things behind the scenes. In fact, aside from the small battle in Afghanistan, most American victories in MW2 wouldn't have happened had it not been for Price. -
Where do they get the money to finance their walk?
-
Before spending money on new hardware, LOWER THE VIEW DISTANCE. 2000-4000m ought to be fine, 10km will kill your computer. I can guarantee a massive gain of FPS just from that.

Totally agree. I own MW2 and got ~300 hours out of the multiplayer. 300 hours out of a $60 game is 20 cents an hour. That's cheaper than a hooker :D -

I don't think the government is going 1984 on us, I believe it's more about PR than anything else. Police brutality happens everywhere, as not all cops are good cops. Unfortunately, with the rise of the internet, every such incident is amplified to a huge extent. This makes the government look bad, so they try to get some of these videos taken down. As you see, not everyone complied. The government isn't throwing people into prison for posting these videos, it's just sending them angry letters :)

As I said before, things are the way they are because it's actually more profitable for the 1% to hoard money by ripping off the 99% than to make money by investing in legitimate businesses. We need to make investment profitable again. There is no need to introduce socialism and high taxes to redistribute the wealth. The free market will do that on its own... as the 1%ers invest their money, wages will rise, businesses will grow and the bottom 99% will get richer. We need to create wealth, not redistribute it. Also we need to fix the investment rating system... the current economic clusterfuck is their fault too. S&P, Moody's... they are all corrupt.
-
So, according to your logic, anyone who supports capitalism is a supporter of the 1%? Really? Also you seem to forget the fact that the 1% actually does contribute to the economy, through investment. We'd be worse off without their investments. This 1% doesn't refer to the laziest 1%, it refers to the wealthiest. Just because they are the richest doesn't mean they are parasites. Not saying that they should stay as rich as they are, but the fact that you think we should just "get rid of them" shows that you know very little.

I had no problems killing people in the open beta. Just aim high (chest/head shots) and you will get kills consistently. Also 80% of the people I killed never got a chance to fire back. The element of surprise is your best friend. -
History has already proved that capitalism works. Look at the difference in economic development between the former Soviet Union and the United States. Americans enjoy higher salaries (even the 99% does), better standards of living, lower crime rates... the list goes on.The problem with 1%ers is that what they created isn't capitalistic at all. It's not a free market if the government gives you special privileges like subsidies, tax cuts, etc.
-
The 1%ers exist because we don't have true capitalism. In a truly free market, they wouldn't have any of the advantages, subsidies and tax breaks that the government gives them. They don't expect anyone to clean up their mess, in fact they hope that nobody does. That way they can keep exploiting the system. I say, just make sure everyone is held accountable for illegal practices and tax evasion. The free market will redistribute the wealth on its own.
-
The current situation is not because of a failure of capitalism. It's a failure of corruption. Capitalism works if there is a level playing field, the problem is that government was corrupt and allowed rich bankers to buy themselves an advantage.

I don't think that would be possible, getting heavy things into orbit requires a ton of energy, not only to get it up to >100km altitude, but also to accelerate it to 28,000 km/h so that it stays up there.Based on the article, it seems that this is designed for small particles.

Boycotting Origin .... bought Take on Helicopters
rangerpl replied to TheCrusader's topic in OFFTOPIC
EA has too many sheeple following them for us to make a difference. Though I have to admit I do intend to buy BF3. I also doubt that origin will get very far, Steam has too much of a head start, and, more importantly, it doesn't just sell Valve games unlike Origin which is just EA stuff.
