SSD is just a hard disk that have really fast loading speed, it's really helpful in arma because it increase the object loading speed like houses and etc making you get less lag in the game. The downside is the size is pretty small, so you might want to make it as a secondary hard disk and only install games that you want to have faster loading speed into it like arma 2 or skyrim. Are you saying you dont know where the installer file is? someone nice posted the installer file pic on other thread. you should look for these file if you bought the game from sprocket. It should be in your download folder unless you changed the location previously..

Use sixupdater, it will solves a lot of your problem. Let you switch to beta patch and back too and also let you download and update mod easily.

Yeah, grass is a kind of annoyance. But you shouldn't be shooting in a clear area that have grass anyway. If you go to prone and crawl, enemy AI wont detect you. you can get pretty close to them too unless they know you are around because you have fired a shot previously. If you're under pursuit by the enemy, you can run away and find a place to hide or wait for ambush. You can also see the AI awareness level by their behavior. If they are on patrol mode, you can crawl as near as 15-30m without being detected by them or even closer. Dont play peek a boo with them, once they see you, they know you are there. Using silenced weapons gives you a good advantage too even in daylight. AI cant see you against obstacle or even fallen trees unless you start shooting and they see the direction of your tracers. Replay it as many times as you want to see how the enemy reacts to you. you might want to disable your AI or find a friend to play it together since it's a coop mission. If you're confident in your skill, then you can start practice controlling the AI. Arma 2 is all about the AI, having subordinates means you have extra firepower and more set of eyes to assist you in your mission. But unlike human players that you still need to communicate with using voice or text. Your AI rely on the available commands on you menu, which takes some time getting used to it.

that's a pretty decent spec, try doing a stress test on your gpu and cpu. I got a gtx 560 too and within a week it keep crashing whenever the gpu usage hits 100%. I use furmark to do a stress test and find out that it always crash at 100% no matter what resolution that i use. Next day, RMA the sucker asap. you need a really fast hdd to play arma 2 smoothly, you get lag issue when going into big towns because the object is being loaded from the hdd. Getting a ssd will make the game really smooth.

Most people dont realize this but playing arma 2 online lessen the load of your pc considerably. You have smoother gameplay since all the burden of processing the enemy is done by the servers. But if the servers is overloaded then everything goes down the hill from there.

Modern war tactics is all about superior weaponry, surprise ambush, long distance engagement, intel, flanking and knowledge of your surrounding terrain. But the most important thing is weapon discipline, dont shoot just because you can see them and the concept is if you can see all of them, you should realize that all of them can see you too and they have 3 times more firepower than you alone. For fighting alone, the best tactic is shoot and relocate. You should have a hard cover to hide, a place to retreat and change location to hit them again.

Hate newbies? Not really, having new guys in the server changes gameplay result drastically. When you are playing with 70% veterans, the game like warfare is pretty predictable. But when 80% of the players is newbies, it gives a new flavor to the game. Makes the game more prolonged and enjoyable.

No, this is not a rpg game. So you dont get banned for using the weapons.

1. Verify file integrity on steam and let it restore everything to it's original again. 2. Check your steam shortcut parameter, does it have mod line in it. You can also see on the main arma 2 menu on the right screen if there's any mod loaded. If there is, remove it from your shortcut path. 3. Run the game and see if there's any pop up message. If there is, get back here and post it. 4. If no, join any public server with green icon on it. Doesn't matter if it's empty. You should be able to join without getting kicked, try a couple of servers for confirmation. 5. If you get kicked from all the green icon server, there is an illegal file in your game. The only option was to delete everything and let steam redownload it again. 6. Once everything is ok and you want to play dayz, download sixupdater and learn how to use it to download the dayz mod and run the beta patch since you might mess up the mod files again if you manually put it in the main game folder.

Hi guys, i'm pretty familiar with mods and etc on arma 2 CO but kinda stumped when it's OFP because there's too much content for it for me to browse through. So can anyone recommend me any enhancement mod like JSRS or blastcore but for OFP or any nice mods that would go with it and mod management tools for it. Maybe something like sixupdater. I want to replay the campaigns again, i think i must be feeling nostalgic these days :p

Nice mission markb50k!! Overall i cant really complain but i have some suggestion to make it better. 1. I dont really like the search houses and get random enemy spawned concept, maybe because it's not really tactical to me. How about raiding guard posts, enemy patrols, road blocks, armory, camps and etc to find items instead of searching houses. This way you can recon the area and plan your attack properly. 2. Recruiting volunteers can be done by raising the town affinity toward you, after the town have increase to certain point then you get recruits from there. 3. Units experience - I'm not sure if it's possible but it would be great if after certain numbers of kills your units will level up/ have better stats. Gives you more incentive to bring them to battle and let them do the killing. 4. Gain skill - Maybe adding random mission where you can learn skills like lockpick or repair added to you. 5. Enemy air - Once i manage to find a M1 tank and i saw there's enemy hind in the air, after i shoot it down i notice it keep coming every 5-10min even after i shot like 4 of them =( . I dont think the enemy can send that many reinforcement at 1 time. 6. Military Vehicles - I dont like the idea of finding random empty tanks on the map, how about you find it on deserted military camps or captured by the enemy. this way, you need to raid the enemy camps to get better vehicles or ambush enemy patrols and repair it. overall it's a great mission, thanks for a job well done =D

If players want their AI to have the same ability, he need to run the asr mod on his pc. Servers will handle enemy AI spawned in the mission while player controlled AI are processed by the respected person PC. So if your PC is not running ASR mod, the AI that you control will be using vanilla.

If you put AI enhancement mod on servers it will only apply to AI generated by the servers, usually enemy AI. Player AI will depends on the mod run on the player pc side.

dont hate dayz so much, it made the warfare server get populated again by the influx of new players :cool: It seems like dayz is the reason these guy get to know arma 2 but after a while and due to lack of objective some of them started to get bored and begin prowling the online server to try new missions. Once they have tried insurgency or warfare and realize that you can have multiple tanks under your control compared to other fps online game, it's gonna make them a true armaholic.
