  2. MP will be added in future patch, i'm willing to buy this game because of the community mod and the developer good record of providing future support. Just look at arma 2, the original campaign game pretty sucks but when custom missions and mod are released it become the next best thing since cheeseburger.
  3. u can try this, it dont work on win XP tho http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover this software can move your whole directory to other drives without reinstalling the software, it utilized the mklink command available on vista and above. Really useful to move games to other directory especially when using ssd *note - can be used on any folder, not just steam folder.
  4. I'm waiting for someone to make a custom mission where we need to board the enemy carrier and secure it pirate like.
  5. Might be corrupted files or something that you manually put into the game folders. The only way i can think of is Redownload your dayz mod, if that still dont work reinstall your game. If it's steam, verify the game cache. Make sure you dont have any error on it.
  6. I dont think you can save MP games for arma2. The way i've seen others did it was to let the game continue running until next day because the saves wont work properly.

    Annoying desktop "crash" issue.

    I think they called it losing focus in win 7, i have this problem too last time on a newly installed win 7. I uninstalled my wifi software and it fixed the issue, It looks like certain software will steal focus from your game because it needed attention and will switch the game to desktop. It's really annoying and taken me a few days to find which one is causing it. It will also happens on any other application i'm using even internet browser. Not sure if it's the same problem as you are having now.
  8. Most of the servers out there runs combined operation which uses takistan and chernarus map which you cant play if you run only arma 2 which only have chernarus map. Some uses mods but there's still a few vanilla servers out there. You need additional files/mods to join servers that have these in their description - ACE, Dayz, RPG Life or any other maps that is not takistan and chernarus. Make sure you have the latest patch and you will see the servers will have green icon on it, make sure to sort it using ping so you can join the one closest to your location. Most public server that didnt use mods usually runs Warfare BE, Domination, Evo and insurgency. But it's pretty rare to find servers that only uses arma 2 nowadays, almost all of them runs combined operation which require both arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead.

  10. Just something to spice up the game in the future. 1. Island defense coastal batteries and sea units - Time to get those carrier guns to use, good maneuver training until the fight with the enemy carriers. Those manta will finally get a decent torpedo training too. 2. Defending island manually - Take control of island defense remotely after certain tech is researched/built. Add another concept of supply chain but using communication line that can be disrupted by destroying certain communication structure to deny remote defense of the island. Will add greatly to strategic value when MP is released later since players will be trying to disrupt not only supply but even remote defense capability of the other teams. Instead of capture the flag, teams will be defending/attacking the communication tower while the carrier is moving towards the AO for support. I dont mind if the AI enemy carrier cheat a bit and have 3 times more manta and walrus parts to compensate for going against human player for single player game. 3. Customize your island defenses - Spend resources to manually add turrets and defenses structure to the island, will keep the player busy while waiting for fuel and etc. Will provide good challenge for MP sessions later. 4. Sabotage missions, if your manta and carrier are not up to the tasks - Time to get that FPS section to use, anchor the carrier at the sea and send 1 small transport with assault crew to take out critical structure. If remote control defenses is available, players can take control of the turrets and droids on the island to defend it. Will gives nice variation to MP gameplay too which is coop based. Adding structure like shield/jamming structure that prevent aerial or long range barrage to force teams to revert to this type of assault. Players will need to send advance recon units to scout the island too before sending assault teams to find suitable landing site. 5. AI units gains experienced and level up - Faster response time, better aiming capability, longer detection range, better survival rate and etc. Makes you wanna rename that manta since it's your favorite one. 6. Command module for vehicles - Units with command module will lead and direct the team firepower to concentrate on enemy targeted by it using laser or etc. I remember this from warzone 2100. So you will finally utilize those heat cannon that the AI walrus is lugging about even without direct line of sight. will add more later after i got some coffee...
  11. It's on server side if i'm not mistaken, start a new game on the server but choose expert difficulty.
  12. It is a sandbox where you cap island while chasing the enemy carrier playing hide and seek. What do you think the old carrier command is about? I love to see what mod the community will come up with, the only reason i'm willing to buy this game.

    might be corrupted patch file, you can try different mirror download link on the official site http://www.arma2.com/supply/game-updates . You can try using torrent if it still fail or use different method to download the file like download managers or browsers.

    lol actually those are part of their public transport, around ~50% of the buses in Shang Hai is electric like on the vid or hybrid. Those that cant afford cars use electric bicycles. Even the cops i saw are using those small electric cars and they have kiosks that run on solar all over the place. Kinda makes me wonder which country is actually honest in implementing these green stuffs.....

  19. yeah, i really hope mods will be able to make this game better. One of the plus points that made me willing to even get the beta. Maybe teach the AI carrier some nifty maneuvers and sneaky tactics and fight while doing passes with the ship side guns blazing. Currently the ships are just too weak to be killed just by AA guns. Try shooting AA guns on the real aircraft carrier, the captain gonna throw up his arm in the air and send you a bill for new paint job.

I tested this game yesterday and stumbled upon the enemy carrier around 20mins into the game and manage to destroy it in around 30min by using cheap tactic like positioning my carrier when it try to run away and blasting it with my plasma cannon. Come on guys, this is cheap. I dont want a 30 island mission to end just like this. The AI enemy carrier only use dash tactic to run away and try to attack your island behind your back. Killing the enemy carrier like this is kinda anti climatic after investing so much time for the 30 island capture game later. We need proper sea battle with new tactics and strategy to use, not just blasting it away using plasma cannon. A good remake o fthis nice game along with the nice island battle. Some suggestion. 1. Reduce the carrier speed - With the current viewdistance the current speed is just not feasible. The carrier should have slow acceleration speed and should take some time to gain max speed. 2. Reduce the flak rate of fire and increase it's error in targeting 3. Manta should have torpedoes since it can rarely stand against the carrier Flak cannon. The only way to counter it is by using manta to intercept it. 4. Carrier radar should be doubled so you can better plan when coming out of warp 5. Carrier armor health should be 3 times than now, it's just too thin making the fight end too fast. 6. Using manta as decoy, in case you don't want to fight you can mount a decoy radar signature on the manta to fool the enemy carrier. Sacrifice the manta so the carrier can escape. Imagine seeing 4 carrier on the radar going to different direction without knowing which one is the correct one. With the increased radar distance, this tactic should work. 7. Carrier speed affected by load, in case you need to run away. you can ditch your cargo load for increase in speed so you can fight another day. Filling your carrier to the brim will also reduce your speed. 8. Using resource to upgrade other stuffs - Using upgrades to buff up your island defenses or upgrading your carrier subsystem. Player need to spend his resource carefully instead of just using it to produce items. Adding research option to spend your resource would be nice too so players can research items that suits his gameplay. Maybe even up to converting one of the manta dock for Air to land/carrier missile or the walrus bay for long range controllable torpedo. 9. It's time for BIS to add more enemy naval units patrolling the sea, so you can have enough sea battle experience to prepare you for the enemy carrier. 10. Using factory to build escort ships, it's a carrier so it should be escorted. Player can use it in formation for defense or attack. Can be left outside the map when attacking islands. Ah well, maybe we should just mod these later.
  21. manage your production, you need to build carrier fuel while alternating it with equipment's. this way you can keep capping island and moving around without running out of fuel. changing some island to production will speed it up too.

    A manta question

    look at the island, you will see icons like a wrench or bullets on the map. Click on it and the AI will go there to repair or rearm, also works on enemy island (unless they patch it or something)
  23. dont wait, it will take a long time to build a new one that' swhy it' sbetter to hack it instead of building a new one. Just leave it and go cap new island.

If you get sick with the campaign, just try the single mission 1st. when you want to jump into the MP bandwagon, keep a lookout on servers running warfare, insurgency, and etc. Watch some youtube vids to get the gist of it, you can always asks around in the game. Most of us dont really mind, just not when are being engaged at the moment.
