I have an idea for a mission or maybe as a Single Player RPG. It's a game where your AI soldiers have the ability to level up gaining better accuracy and response time. Missions can be randomly generated with difficulty rating shown on map so Player can choose which difficulty mission he's able to do with his current army/soldiers. Player soldiers will be bought at poll similar like warfare. One major difference is that barracks will only provide fresh green recruits. But your soldier will have the ability to level up base on his kills and participation in missions. Accuracy and response time will level up accordingly making you will want to try to keep all your soldiers alive as much as possible because nothing can buy experience. This way you will always have a nice mix of fresh recruits and veterans in your squad. Completing missions or by killing will generate money or income for you to further upgrade your soldiers or the capability to upgrade your HQ to provide better equipment and weapons. well lets just say it will be like warfare for single player but with soldiers that will get better after each kills and mission completion. So a commander job will be getting their units to the field and getting them back alive like a real comm supposed to be. And you will need to manage their ammo and weapons too and by coming back to HQ to refill your lost units and rearm. Ability to attach fix emplacement will be nice, dragging that expensive guns for your ambush mission and etc. So as a commander your main job will be to complete your missions while keeping as many of your subordinate alive to keep their experience growing making them a bad ass unit in longer time. Because missions are generated randomly you will have a perfectly nice sandbox game with high replay value. Having a soldier roster showing his name, kills, mission completion and ranks will be useful. It's unlucky we still dont have a proper moral system or it can be included and your green recruits will cower in terror when their commander makes a wrong recon assessment and went against a T90 with green troops. (Remember hiding in a camp when the ground shakes with the sound of tank tracks getting near? >=P) Missions can include random patrols or surprise missions with unknown difficulty status to add some spice to it. Because money are gained only by mission completions and kills, equipment and vehicles are valuables. If a player will rambo and kill all the enemy by himself, his soldiers wont gained any experience >=3 edit Commander upgrade tree can be like this and some other pointers. 1. comm -> 4 AI -> 8 -> 12 ->16 -> 2 Team leader -> 3 -> etc 2. Vehicles -> light transport -> light armed -> etc 3. Soldier Upgrade - increase accuracy/response time/weapons load out 4. Comm can respawn on mobile HQ or ambu (so player will not get sick of spawning at base XD) 5. Soldiers injured will transport to ambu and need to transport to base to stay in medical tent at base until recover (maybe after 2-3 mission) or 6. Injured soldiers will automatically transport to ambu or hospital to prevent tedious function of saving them on site (cause doing repetitive thing like that is boring, but you can add thefunction for anyone that prefer realism to the max =) ) 7. Comm will be able to buy soldiers at base and manage their poll, replacing injured units with fresh recruits while letting injured veterans heal at field hospital. 8. Soldiers will DIE, but randomly. (No you dont get to resurrect them cause it's not a medieval RPG game. lawl) Missions can consist of any random stuffs from Easy - 1 to 4 man team 1. disabling mines on road 2. painting targets for air strike 3. sniper missions 4. steal the car (lol) 5. repair friendly units on hot zone 6. deliver supplies ETC Medium - 8 to 16 man team 1. Ambush enemy convoy 2. attacking enemy outpost 3. attack and more attack missions 4. arty missions Hard - 2 Platoon - 4 platoon 1. supporting major attack 2. Air support 3. Any medium operation etc Extreme 1. Frontal assault on enemy line 2. Defending forward base from enemy attack 3. Using ICBM =) 4. Aircraft SEAD missions 5. Air superiority missions 6. Defending air craft carrier etc Unknown (?) 1. throwing in some surprise elements for the courages ones, maybe will gain high bounty 2. Maybe an easy mine disabling mission but in the middle of a tank convoy route or something (surprise!) etc Some harder missions can be set through some randomly generated major action like WICT mod n etc, like completing missions while 2 major forces are clashing together. So in summary - do missions -> get money -> upgrade better equipment and more AI - Keep AI alive -> Let them do the fighting -> much more bad ass AI for you to command - Manage your AI through pools by adding them to your active group or letting them rest to heal. - random missions can be a ripoff of all the smaller missions done by others =P - OMG it's similar to Mount and Blade...... Since it's an RPG, i guess your AI is the one with options to upgrade , well maybe u can upgrade by the equipment you can carry i guess. So the mission will be repetitive and you can choose which one to do at the current moment Well this is the idea and i hope it will provide some interesting gaming if someone would like to do it. maybe it can include MP option where your buddy can join in and become another commander or one of your units and you can still continue playing alone when they are not around. You can make a new thread to get more feedback or ideas from other users too. You can even use the same concept for a Zombie mission!! Damn, i'm willing to pay money for this kind of sandbox mission lol. BIS make this into a DLC!!!!! Have fun!

Did Arma2 makes you discriminate other FPS games?
gunso replied to gunso's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
:D yeah, i'm willing to wait for Bis arma series to get close to close combat 3. Imagine combining arma 2/3 with moral/discipline function like close combat based on your soldier experience. Imagine having a sandbox game that your unit will gain experience and be better after every firefight and kills. Getting new recruits that will panic to replace your lost units but gets better when staying near a commander and surviving a battle. Choosing easier missions until you have hardcore veterans as your unit. (kinda sounds like RPG to me XD) makes you want all your unit to survive the battle like you're supposed to, not disposable like current arma2. Damn we can even have PVP between multiple commanders where you position your units and selecting it from pool exactly like the old close combat series. I should post this in the request your mission thread  -
Did Arma2 makes you discriminate other FPS games?
gunso replied to gunso's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
yeah i really agree on the numbers of different angle you can approach in a single mission or even multiplayer. Other games lets me be a heavy gunner or sniper and etc etc. But Bis games actually lets me roleplay into a different character even in multiplayer without selecting classes. tell me other games that allow me to control a lot of AI's at my disposal. >=3 Bought valve orange box last week offer for 15bucks and when i tried playing half life ep2 i keep thinking why cant i just blow the damn fence again and again. And tried team fortress 2 MP and i'm aghast with how the mic is being used in that game compared to arma2. Arma2 is the 1st game that i bought after trying a pirate copy. Warfare is what got me hook to it and sent me scrambling for an original copy the next day =P The best thing with an original copy is that it lessen the load on my PC a LOT playing MP while enjoying the vast battle that will cripple my PC. You dont see other games like that! -
3 player needed for coop compaign walkthrough
gunso replied to yannara's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
i'm interested to join since i haven't finish the campaign at all. sick of seeing my ai walking into sniper ambush and the guy behind him do the same until all 3 of them are down. btw i'm GMT +8 and have no schedule restriction on my side for weekends. unless the next is a working day. xfire - rizashahril skype - rizashahril i dont use msn or yahoo anymore, just these 2 nowadays. i also have the baf and pmc campaign that i still haven't gone through, interested in doing coop with these too. If i can get a decent ping that is, but i usually join the hotshots server and can get around 220ms. -
ok i found this a while ago and since i never shutdown this pc cause i use it for downloading n stuff i'm thinking why the hell not. The team was formed over 7 years ago and are involved in a distributed computing project called Folding@Home (F@H). This is a project created by reknowned Stanford University in the USA and its main purpose is to find cures for protein-related diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, cancer, Huntington's diseases, and others. here's the link to it http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download it's for charity... quote from the site i found this "Basically, you use your PC's spare CPU/GPU cycles to perform simulations of protein folding. We typically use our PC for Internet surfing, MS Office type tasks - light tasks. So the CPU (and GPU) are idling - this idle capacity can be dedicated to F@H, to help find cures for these diseases." "Won't running the F@H client interfere with my PC usage/gaming? It depends - if you use the CPU client then it automatically runs only when the CPU is idle, and so will *not* interfere with your daily usage, even when gaming!. If you use the GPU client and you play games, then it is recommended to temporarily pause/suspend the client before gaming. For the hardcore overclockers, the F@H clients are also a good way of stress-testing the CPU/GPU. Whilst it will not send your CPU and GPU temperatures soaring like Prime95 or Furmark, it is nevertheless a good indication of stability as well." "What if folding does not produce a cure? In the end, folding will not produce the cure, it has and will continue to produce results for researchers to study. These results teach us things we did not know, or had not considered. The more we learn, the more we adapt our understanding of nature and its mysteries. Folding will never replace the human mind. And with the right tools, time, and curiosity, eventually a cure will be found. If you have a friend, relative, or know of someone suffering from these diseases, help find a cure by joining this great project! " read the website and download it if you think you want to contribute!

ah i remember that evo on arma2, are you talking about the one with ranking and bug on the last town?
-
nah i dont think it's pc spec issue, more like mod script clashing or not compatible with the latest update.
-
ZeroG, i try to play yesterday and found this problem. if i enable blastcore 1.1 mod i get this bug message and get disconnected from the game to the lobby after 5min. bug: town initialization failed - something like this. no problem like this before on the older version i usually run with the following mod on the previous version of warfare benny zgm mod on "XR-Dao Warfare Hs-Clan.com JSRS Xroptics XRSM Xrip Blastcore11

make something like THIS!!!!

mmm u still can run multiplayer mission hosted on your pc and play it alone like gossamer/benny/zgm warfare mission. you can buy AI so you're not really alone. you can even edit some of the mission n add your own AI in it.

i posted this in the wrong thread last time, sorry mod. mmm does anybody know or can make a mission that have enemy swarming over your firebase in waves like you usually see in vietnam war movies like hamburger hill and etc. I dont really mind if it's in chernarus or takistan as long as i get to defend the firebase using whatever arsenal are in it. I think it would be great for single player or coop with the enemy randomly probing your firebase and you can respawn in your own firebase with the enemy difficulty increasing after a period of time or after successful defense mission. It's a defence mission and you dont need to travel far just around your base manning fix emplacement or stuffs. Or using an income base type of game where you can buy and construct your own fix emplacement on your own base. If it support more player maybe it can include an attack mission where player can join in and attack enemy strategic location like in domination where when there's enough player they will split into 2 groups to attack town and do side mission but the defend base mission is just not brutal enough. I like it if defending the base is the main priority and chopper used to send out attacking team can be used to support the base when it's being attacked. Don't you want to man the chopper guns and actually do some live target shooting? Or maybe where u utilize the construction function in arma2/oa where u move forward and setup a firebase deep in enemy lines and defending against waves of enemy while utilising your arty and air support. you will lose if your forward base is over-run and the enemy occupied it for a certain amount of time if you fail to clear it even while re-spawning in your firebase due to the enemy overwhelming number. Imagine the enemy sending a sapper while your are busy fighting and cutting your throat from behind or blowing up a satchel from within the firebase and being overwhelm and require you to switch from close range weapon vice versa. even your rarely used small arm guns will be guaranteed to be fully utilized in this game. Or making it similar to CTI but instead of attacking the town you need to go there and find a nice spot and establish a base and defend it. The difficulty or numbers of enemy AI can be adjusted based on the numbers of online players in it, so even if the server is empty a single player can still enjoy himself in it,while waiting for more players to join in maybe with options to buy AI and earning money when u make kills like in CTI mission. IF your are too successful in defending your base maybe we can include some random enemy arty operator to be deployed or an attack chopper called in that will wreak havok on your nicely position fix emplacement. With the small AO i think the server/cpu resource can be used to generate a lot of enemy AI and the firefight will be really intense just like when you watch the Vietnam war movies. Imagine it like the benny warfare but where the enemy comes to you instead of you going out to them or maybe with ranking option where the higher your rank better weapon emplacement you can use or even the ability to construct additional base. If there's already a mission like this can you point it to me, if not what do you guys think for a new mission this type?

uuuuu like fort zombie , nice idea. hope you make a better one than the existing buggy game, then people wont spend money to buy a broken buggy game and buy arma2 instead. some ideas, set some kind of timer or after scavenging a couple of town for survivors then you need to prepare your base for zombie attack. please, no scavenging for items in a small box scattered around town cause towns in arma is damn big. maybe just looking for survivors in barricaded areas or vehicles in town or unlock new weapon type when you found it in zombie infested army base. maybe you can arm civvies but set that they have poor aiming skills, or make some with good aiming skills like NPC in rpg so u can get attached to them, esp if it's a she =P (maybe she's a soldier on leave or a police woman) maybe secure and defend oil wells to generate money for your team. well even in a zombie infested country i'm sure you can find a black market to buy n sell those kind of stuffs hehe. maybe later in the game when you have scavenge some nice weapons n armor you will clash with local resistance faction that try to establish themselves in this zombie infested country. try having firefights and fixing your vehicles with zombies around you and etc. i hope you can make this into a nice zombie mission, good luck!!

awesome mission! great job guys. I just want to suggest something if it haven't been suggested before. usually when in the game the one with air usually dominate the game and it usually end with a chopper rocket attack to the mhq. i'm suggesting each side to have a base with no fly zone at the end of map, can be random. then the mhq is sent out of this base as normal. something like your own country border which have superior air control or just a base that cant be destroyed. imagine flying a US military chopper into russian border. so attacking a mhq will not end the game but will prompt the side losing the mhq to a defensive position rather than waiting for the opposing air to blow up the rest of their base. this way the main base can be used to defend the last town nearest to it and we can see a clear line between 2 opposing forces where flanking maneuver will actually work and player will actually use their ai to assist in attacking or defending. the attacker need to have their mhq near to the frontline and need to defend their remaining town and actually attack at the same time and it's actually harder for the winning team. so you really need to cap the last town to win and the team losing the mhq need to actually defend it. there're times when you're capping a town then hear the message "AF destroyed etc2" and you're like WTF......the game ends this way there will be no issue in base hunting early in the game anymore and players will be pushed to a much more concentrated area and will be utilizing all the defensive fix emplacement already available in the game. the only problem i can think of is the game will be extended longer, but at least the player will be forced to defend their last town instead of going base hunting and ignoring town defense like what happening now. maybe using this as an option for winning a supremacy type of mission. it's just an idea anyway and you're free to modify is as you see fit. imagine players with their ai scattered all along the tree lines around cherno and maybe players wont really mind to have arty option enabled again >=D
