    No women at all

I realise that it's a ton of work, but work is what people do, when they are at work. They have full time employees for whom modelling and rigging character models is part of their job description. Having 25 years experience working in an industry where not doing something because it is difficult or complex simply isn't an option I really struggle to accept a "it's hard, we can't do it" excuse, especially when they obviously can. For what it's worth I personally am only asking for them to look into after the campaign is completed, I don't want them to just drop everything.... but neither do I want them to just leave us with a world that only represents the small portion of the population that are physically fit men aged 20-45. I understand that it wouldn't add much if you just play multiplayer spec ops type stuff, but that isn't how everyone plays, its a sandbox, and the lack of women seriously limits the scope for story based mission creators. Another thing to note from my personal experience, I'd rather have too much work than not enough...

    Clarion WIP thread

Thread was only started last week. You may be thinking of one of the other attempts.

    Clarion WIP thread

Arma 2 oa came with at least one female voice set including injured and breathing sounds. I presume it would be ok to use these, I have seen other stuff ported from older games. I did look at this for the other female soldier mod but I was getting syntax errors and couldn't be bothered messing with it for an unfinished mod

I reckon the standard vests might work with this model, because he hasn't gone silly with the proportions

    Space genre games

Elite dangerous is looking close to my idea of a perfect space sim, well it is after the planned expansions where you can land seamlessly on planets, and leave your ship. There will always be something you would like done differently, but elite is the closest, for me.

    No Women=Disturbing

Well I still maintain that fear of people not playing properly is not a valid reason to exclude a feature. I'm not convinced that the ADHD kids will spend any length of time getting one shotted by people in bushes that they can't see before they go back to COD anyway. And I reckon if BI did the underwear model it would just be shorts and t shirts, like the men, hardly scantily clad anyway.

    No Women=Disturbing

An influx of players is a good reason not to do it? really? There will always be idiots online, idiots mean sales, just don't play with them. Leaving out features for fear of idiots abusing them is a dodgy path to be heading down... look at voice chat, the cyber bullying potential there is far worse than any abuse of a character model.

They have stated this, official response from the feedback tracker I hope they do get round to it, both soldiers and civilians, arma is one of the only games these days that doesn't, other than those with a set main character.

    Space genre games

Elite won't have a campaign but it will have missions, dynamically generated based on the situation in the system, events such as wars, famine, colonisation, visiting dignitaries etc.. will all generate missions You can play single player offline, with no persistent evolving universe but no internet connection needed, or online in the same universe as mentioned in the post above.

    Space genre games

I have bought into star citizen at the cheapest level, you get one small ship, I can already load up the hangar module and look around it and get in, you can't take off yet though so it's a bit pointless. You can buy more ships for real money but they will all be availiable to buy with in game money, I guess by buying a head start like that people are paying NOT to play. To me, building up from nothing is what these games are about. Another space game I have just backed on kickstarter is the mandate, more of a strategy game, but seems to encompass everything, from fleet battles, to crew management, to boarding actions.. Elite dangerous is my number one most anticipated though.

Sidearms in holsters - are we getting it?

There was already a ticket for this... I don't get why people vote stuff down because it's a lot of work though, do they think they are going to have to help out themselves? Would they rather the devs rested on their laurels and called it finished? Vote for stuff if you want it and let the devs decide if they have the resources or not, they are the ones who know best. I've said this before in another thread, it's just paying customers asking for a feature... Having said that I do think there is more important stuff to do first, but this should go on the list for the future..

Sidearms in holsters - are we getting it?

They already have updated every animation since resistance, sounds like one of those things they should have done while they had the chance.... oh well.....
  14. Agree 100% with the OP, this has been the worst problem in the series for me right from day 1 and it puts me off ever using tanks. What he's asking for can be seen as giving orders to the driver that he follows, rather than orders that he doesn't follow as it is now... Not sure what the people who say "play with real people then" are even doing posting in this thread, if they only play multiplayer, it doesn't affect them either way.

    No women at all

Actually I do know it's a ton of work.. doesn't mean there is any harm in asking, many of the other things being asked for are also a ton of work. I get asked to do stuff at work all the time that is a ton of work, I imagine most people do, If I'm going to be stuck at work all day, I actually prefer to have a lot on my plate, passes the time. We're not asking anyone to stay up all night unpaid doing it. It's just paying customers asking a developer to add a feature to their software...

We can all argue till the cows come home about the differences between men and women, and whether they are as capable... What we can't do, is make a story based campaign or mission where these differences and the issues being discussed are a plot point or relevant to the story... because we don't have the models..

    No women at all

All these comments about about capability are all well and good, but this thread is actually about female civilians if you read the OP Anyway, the feedback tracker thread has an answer now, they are not in because of time and manpower constraints. Hopefully this means they will get round to it (both civilians and soldiers) after the campaign is done and they are not so pushed....I'm still not holding my breath though..
  18. Well i've tinkered a bit but I'm in no way an experienced modder, could porbably handle the breath and injured sounds though, but at the moment I'm not even using the add on as I was waiting for a more complete version (I know you said you weren't continuing but someone might pick it up) or for the other mod that was started. So it was a rhetorical question really, though I might have a look at some point...
  19. With the ability to use assets from earlier games, would it be possible to use the voice and breathing sounds from OA as was done in the old mods for arma 2? Changing the pitch of the male voices doesn't make the out of breath sounds any less manly...

    Where is the Game?

I'm pretty happy with what we have so far, I bought on the first day of alpha and I know there is more content coming, and I can see many improvements over arma 2 But having said that, if there are people coming on here having bought a boxed copy and finding the campaign, that was mentioned in a lot of previews etc... in previous months, is not there, then it stands to reason that there must be a lot of people taking it back to the shop.
  21. With regards my comment about a boxed copy, are you sure that trading standards (or your country's equivalent) would see it that way? Because I'm not. Of course it may be that there is nothing about a campaign on the box, or it might say "campaign to come later", I don't know, I haven't seen one
  22. I got the game cheap at alpha on steam, and I know there is free DLC coming, so I'm not upset at all, just waiting and mostly playing other stuff in the meantime. But I am curious...If you buy a boxed copy of the game in a shop, does it say anything about a campaign on the box? could you buy it, then get it home and discover it doesn't yet do what it says on the box? just wondering....
  23. Whilst I agree with this post, I think it would have to wait for a different game engine, with more dynamic GTA style animations... Something to think about for the future.

It's also worth pointing out that BIS most likely employ character artists to do this sort of stuff... asking them to fix balancing issues, ballistics, etc... rather than people with expertise in those areas, could be a recipe for disaster. Everyone doesn't all stop working to add one feature at a time you know... "this thing is more important" is a pointless argument.

PLease forget content for a moment

It wouldn't necessarily be the same people adding content as fixing bugs anyway.. Do you really want the 3D modellers, texture artists and animators sitting on their hands waiting for the programmers to fix the bugs? or are you asking for everyone to work on the same thing at once?
