Player triggering a trigger in a vehicle
pandur replied to Koni's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
 Interesting... if I put (vehicle player) in thislist; into the condition field of the trigger it doesn't work for me sitting in a stryker... trigger doesn't activate either it's linked to me or not. Am I missing something? -
you are right about the scope, but when I use the Binocular_Vector especially at night with NV it cuts my fps down to 50%...

Damn! You finally got the Chernarus wintermap I always wanted... sorry, couldn't resist. BTW that would be nice for the next DLC. Chernarus is already there. Concerning the atoc the trees on Chernarus looks fine, but in Takistan they still have lod problems. (using hd5970 ccc 10.4 - I also tried ccc 10.2 no difference. Just the latest ccc driver is a disaster.) The new FPS are awesome, can fly low above earth in Chernarus and still have sufficent FPS. Good work BI.

The Unsung MOD (Vietnam War) Arma 2 Release
pandur replied to sgt_savage's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
awesome map and good to hear that you are working on the A.I. x-ray issue. thx guys. -
the a10 doesn't have a missle warning system... I don't know if that's realistic or not... does anyone know?

after some testing I got the handgun + zero reaction problem too... placed 2 enemy opfor groups in a village (takistan/ ravanay) and engaged them playing a group of standard ksk soldiers. after some time two of my soldiers switched to their handgun and shortly after stopped doing anything. when called into formation they didn't react anymore. this bug has the potential to break any mission. all the improvements are cool, but this bug is serious.

ARMA 2:OA beta patch 77750
pandur replied to WillaCHilla's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I've just checked out the lucky-number-patch and this is a massive improvement for me. The new looks is stunning, performance went up a bit, the AI is much smarter than before and the speedy-mounting is like a dream came true. Great work!!! Can't wait to get this as a final. ...the only thing I want back is that the AI doesn't run like a kamikaze sheep when given a move command. Because sometimes it's necessary to split them up. I'd support the idea earlier mentioned to make a mixture of the new and old system with some kind of extra key or so. Great, great, great... next DLC? Bring it on. I'd support it even if it was a flying toilet armed with a gatling. ;-) -

ARMA 2: OA beta build 77159
pandur replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Doesn't happen very often, I'd say the patch fixed 75% of this issue. Happened much more frequently, but it still is a problem esp. if you play mostly coop with AI soldiers. and "Btw. I guess exactly this mal-orientation of formations is the culprit for AI comrads walking in front of you into your gunfire, no?" is something different. Mal-orientation happens in all kinds of formations. What you said is "latest-beta-new". At least for me. -
ARMA 2: OA beta build 77159
pandur replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Old topic... https://dev-heaven.net/issues/8973 ---------- Post added at 05:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:59 PM ---------- I totally agree + one more thing makes me mad sometimes Let's say I'm the driver of an armed car suddenly 50m in front of me one single-hero-enemy-unit pops up. First gunner sleeps, second gunner - after some time - at least informs me about the enemy. Enemy starts shooting and we all die in the car. AI spotting needs to be improved, especially in cars and helicopters. btw if you give your AI a "watch this position" order, how can you undo that? I've been trying to figure that out for quite some time... -
What the hell!!! You should have built yourself a BUNKER (1:05) ... ;-))) What kind of soundmod are you using for the a10 if I may ask? Blastcore rocks \m/ Thank you!!!

@MadDogX "and now I'm trying to teach him the basics and get him properly interested" so true I could have said that... the difference is I'm the one who buys the dlcs for them. Am I doing something wrong? :j: and "key function naming" you are absolutely right here. I'm playing the German version and this is even more confusing because the translation is wrong sometimes. As a beginner you're lost. More than once I gave it up, but I always had this feeling about the potential this game might have. No doubt arma2 is the best drug so far, but if you are new to it you almost need a tutor ;-) (especially when it comes to mods and stuff) @krz9000 You simply can't compare Arma2 to ANY other game. Example? After jumping out of a plane at 7000m height I'm sneaking into an overwatch position on a map which is the size of 40x40 kilometers equipped with a SD sniper rifle (plenty of excellent guns to choose from). After observing by using my TWS scope I silently eliminate an anti-air position. Meanwhile a friend of mine circles in a A10 in a safe distance close to the target tanks which I then laser for his guided precision bombs. An other friend plays either the pilot of an attack chopper or jumps into the role of a spookygunship weapons operator. This is not even 1% of what arma can do! And the best of it, I built the mission myself for me and my buddies. Where else can you do that? It takes some time to get into it, but I can assure you it's worth it.

Improvements I believe a decent number wants
pandur replied to Ironman13's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
@ironman I think it's absolutely correct to make some suggestions for further improvements, but PLEASE take into consideration what a MONSTER game we've already got. -> Compare e.g. just the content of Call of Duty to Arma2. OK COD gives you the shiny I'm-in-the-middle-of-Hollywood feeling (within its 200x200 meters maps of course), but after two days you get bored and after three days you don't touch it anymore. I have been playing Arma2 since the very first beginning and it's still so addicting (ask my arma-allergic-girlfriend). BIS at least tries hard to give us - and all the awesome modmakers - 100% freedom. I think ALL the things you ask for would be cool to see in the game and I too would have tons of ideas, but we can't expect them to come for free. It's a question of proportionality. What we've got so far is minimum 50 times more than you get elsewhere for your money. Don't be offended ironman because that's really not my intention, but what do you really expect for your money? You can't simulate the whole military world, put it into a single game and sell it for 29 Euros... -

ARMA 2: OA beta build 77159
pandur replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
using this beta 1) I always have to start the game twice. when loaded for the first time it lags heavily in the menu and the cursor is jumping around. after ending the program and restarting it everything is perfect... strange? 2) the lod issue with latest ati drivers/ 5970 is MUCH better now. but especially on takistan some trees (the slim and high one mostly) sometimes don't load the highest resolution. sometimes it takes a few seconds, sometimes even more. I also think before 1.57 or so highres was loaded when the player was further away from the objects. anyway it's getting better and better, I'll keep supporting BIS by downloading dlcs which I wouldn't do for any other game. keep it up! awesome game! -
just tested the latest beta. fat-skywalker-laser-problem seems to be solved. whatever it was, it's gone... now I can sleep again and dream of slim lasers.

[Crossfire problem] ARMA 2 OA Texture LOD/Low FPS/Massive stutter
pandur replied to RobertJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
that's good news and I can confirm that. YES! LOD work now perfectly well and almost on every map. (just sometimes, mostly in the pmc campaign some trees and bushes in Zargabad refused to load some highres, but I can live with that.) :bounce3: -
[Crossfire problem] ARMA 2 OA Texture LOD/Low FPS/Massive stutter
pandur replied to RobertJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
@george176 I guess you are right. Problem got to be a mixture of driver and arma2. I found these... http://dev-heaven.net/issues/16189 http://dev-heaven.net/issues/16163 -
[Crossfire problem] ARMA 2 OA Texture LOD/Low FPS/Massive stutter
pandur replied to RobertJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
@Alex72 "Turning down some options makes it more stable." 1) tried that yesterday but for me it's not about stability it's about LODs only. Turning down this-and-that (e.g. shadows, texture detail) didn't show any significant results. 2) I always played ARMA2 with high settings (the only way ;-)), never had any lod problems. Such an awesome milsim and then THIS!!! What am I going to play now? ;-) -

OA looks really bad despite graphic settings + mouse issue
pandur replied to eyab's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
@igneous "maybe its fixed in 1.57" no it's not. I was hoping for that too. I got 1.57. Problem still there. (I don't mean crashes but bad LOD) changing settings doesn't help at all. BTW similar topic http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=101859 Everything original and pmc/baf highres (i7 / hd5970oc /ccc 10.12) -
[Crossfire problem] ARMA 2 OA Texture LOD/Low FPS/Massive stutter
pandur replied to RobertJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
got this problem since patch 1.56... Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead Patch v1.57 didn't help either. what drives me crazy is that I never had this problem before. I can ignore a lot of bugs but this one is really ugly. (I don't have the stutter problem though - just the xtremely ugly LODs like Robert described) also i7 and hd5970oc using Catalyst 10.12 question: "Try going back a few Catalyst versions. i.e. on my rig (also a Core i7 with a HD 5970), going from Cat 10.6 to 10.4 solved all the low texture/LODing issues. " is this confirmed??? (I don't want to mess around with drivers too much)
