  3. For some strange reason (which is probably connected to your awesome skill in the envioriment art) the House_01 looks absolutly great also in Arma 2! You can always model an huge mountain with tunnels/caves for these carts :D ..

  7. Hello guys I've searched everywhere and I was not able to find any thread complaining about the Arma 3 sound engine, pheraps, if there was already one I say sorry for this mistake. After have played a bit to Arma 3 I have been really impressed by the big step forward BIS made in differents areas of the gameplay. Pheraps I got quite disappointed from the Sound Engine. Everybody know thatas humans we have 5 senses sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch . Unfortunaly the actual technology of the gaming allow you to use only 2 of them : sight and hearing (also touch if we consider move the mouse as an interaction with the game) If a game leak in sound quality, the experience of the player will always be around 60 % of what could actually be. Heraing is one of the most important sense, it allows you to orientate around the world in real life. Just imagine how much is important in a 3d space! And this is actually the feeling I'm getting playing Arma 3. It became almost impossible orientate myself into a firefight because most of the times I feel confused, I'm unable to understand from where the fire is coming from. The samples quality is absolutly brilliant and it's a shame be not able to play them correctly. It's like have a Ferrari without have a license to drive cars. What are you opinions about the actual sound engine? Anybody from BIS can say any word about that? Will the sound engine be finally replaced by a new one? (since it's pretty much the same from A1)

    Sure, I was talking about optimization - ammount of work, not about the quality. Honestly you can mod this sound engine for years and have the most amazing samples in the world, if the sound engine is bad it will play them like sh** always ^_^. It's exaclty the same with 3d models, I can make the most beautiful models, but if I have bad lighting and materials options in the engine they will looks always like crap :P (luckly for me they improved that YOOHOOO!) Kinda right, but that should not prevent any implementation of new features from devs just because there's always someone ready to improve the game. (also because you could improve what is already improved , nothing is perfect for a modder ) I mean, if they are able to, and want to keep the gameplay at an high level, they have to improve also the sound engine.Unfortunally we are not able to touch it as modders. So the only thing you can do, it's let them notice that "hole" and hope they will patch it. I guess that if they released the alpha they did that for have an help and feedbacks from community members to see where the game needs improvments. This thread is made to complain the game in the status as it is now (alpha) Obviously if it was the final version I would never started a thread like this. I probably would deal with it as it is. Eheh, luckly they haven't even opened a section on this forum about DayZ...I think the 2 communities will keep be separate (luckly)

    ahah what's wrong with jumping? Connected with stamina and gear it's awesome... Like just 2 jump possible with full stamina and only 1 with mid stamina... where you are able to jump only if you have a small ammount of kgs... and without the ability of shot /reload. Be sure that no one will jump except if it's necessary

    Yes LJ, in fact you have created a masterpiece of mod, but in 1.7 GB...I mean.. 1.7 GB! The whole Hell in the Pacific mod is 1 GB... I know in Arma you *could* do everything... I just find "nosense" saying that "was possible, still is possible" because of several factors : 1) How will it sound ingame 2) The file size 3) The ammount of work (yeah, put reverb and other effects on each sound for each different indoor and other envioriment) usless, just to let a sample became decent. Lol, nothing to say there, this thing let me feel just more disappointed...but anyway Arma 2 was a different game and I guess they was not expecting as such sells , but then became DayZ. Now Arma 3 is a different game, it's a game that surely will sells alot since became popular and easy to obtain thanks to Steam, and have twice potentials that arma 2 had. It's disappointing provide a such outdated sound engine even if it's easy to mod.

    We are talking about a professional studio there, which is Bohemia Interactive... if they can't handle that who can do? :P You sure? I mean, ok, it's the player that create the immersion. But I guess you agree with me when I say that it's disturbing have the same sounds from any kinda of directions and enviorment. Or have to add another sound for each enviorment ( such as indoor sounds ). It's just weird have the sounds that does not merge with what you see And that's why you made the JSRS mod, because also arma 2 was leaking of these stuffs, or am I wrong :D ?

    I think that compare arma 3 to the others AAA games is legit. Actually I think it's one of the top 10 games most awaited in the 2013 ... Anyway... since I'm not an expert I would like to ask: Would the implementation of a new sound Engine be hard (such as Fmod)? Would that bring more benefits to the immersion of the game? Would that influence negativly the modding? Would that be for you , LJ ( since you are a master of sound modding ) , more easy to use? Edit: Better complain now that the game is in development, instead of complain after that it's released :D

    Yeah don't forget that this should have been a standard since Arma 2. We are in 2013 and I would like to see more improvments in the sound engine. Arma is always one step forward in terms of gameplay and concepts...but two step backwords in terms of technology... (don't mishapered me, the new features are awesome... just the sound has been basically forgot... from long time)

    I'm not an expert and I'm not sure what LJ did in JSRS. I thought he made a second sample (for each sample) with reverb effect on it for inside compounds and added a sort of filter effect for distance sound, am I right or I'm wrong? That's an hell of work that double size up the sounds! Just imagine how much more simple would be having a proper sound engine... I think JSRS guys would be really happy...

    lolipoyi! Nice catch!! Finally jump animation. If connected to the gear it can be an awesome feature. Obviously would be dumb jump with an AT gun on the back. But if you have only a pistol or rifle with few mag I don't see the reason of why you should not be able to jump :P recently I'm not understanding the community, seems that they dont want a realistic game, they just want a game that is the opposite of Bf3 or COD. Honestly , as community member and arma fan, I don't give a single *** if in CoD or BF3 you can use knifes or jump. I more care if in real life you can do it. And of course, in real life you can use knifes and you can jump as well.

  17. Hi all! I know it's early to ask a question like this, I know that hardly a person in charge of the BIS will answer. But what I wonder is: Finally we will see the crater after an explosion? Certainly, creating a crater is not of primary importance, but it's a great idea that plays into the hands of realism. Such as the Gore system (not excessive, but only the strictly necessary) and raggdolls. For exemple (personally) i hate when a 105 mm hit the ground and don't make any crater and don't blow up the legs of a poor soldier. (I'm not sadistic, that's just what's happnes in a real warfare) This is an hard question, i know, for many reason like : What's up when artillery fire hit a road? Create a Destroyable Road is not easy, but even impoxible.You should have a powerfull computer to run all of this things (I think). So on what they are focusing? Realism, accessible only to elite(goods) pc or to a medium realism accessible to all ? We just have to wait and see. :bye: Sorry for the bad English. Cheeeeers!:)

    Neurofunker this is a pointless poll. Honestly what you don't want to understand is that everybody should be able to access the game. It's obvious that for steam users there's no problem if A3 is going to be Steam exclusive only, and what would fucking change to you if Arma 3 is going to be as always, released also non via Steam? If you don't understand that it's pointless go against the people that want to have to ability to choose if use steam or not, like all the game in the history of BIS did, well, all that I can say then is that you are just one moron. Everybody should be happy, not only Steam users. I don't give a fuck if Arma 3 is going to be also on Steam, but Stem exclusive sounds like a mess to me. I wish you will understand that, and you will stop irritate with your stupid observation of the situation. Cheers.

Today I'm gonna wash the car and clear the room for you and I'm gonna do all my homeworks. mom is happy and decide to make a refined food for the third day but... at the end of the second day, the mom encounter a chef that offer her an amazing kitchen work. So the THIRD day the child is excited for the refined food, but the mom , since is late and she is going fast because she have to go to work, end up with burn the refined food she was making for her child. And she says : Eat that, or don't eat anything. The child disgusted by the burned refined food ain't ate it. When someone is going fast for make money, who suffers are always the people that count on them. Nice drama eh? (I should make a book ,maybe I just found my real vocation) P.s. dont take it extremely serious
