  1. ^^ Thankyou for those 2 Speedle - probably just what I need. I will do some reading and experimenting over the next few days.
  2. Just starting scripting and I am trying to write a custom loadout script for the player in a single mission, run from the players init field with: xhandler = [this] execVM "loadout.sqf"; It works but affects the game engine by: 1-removing the subtitled text from the lower left of screen. 2-audio and audio commands are cut short - only the 1st word is played. 3-the clock postion indicator is removed from lower right. 4-the weapons are not loaded at start of map - you have to press R to load a magazine. (just found a command for No.4 - 'reload unitName' - would that fix it as in 'reload _soldier' at the end of the below .sqf?) Contents of my sqf, what am I doing wrong? I am not very experienced so have cobbled this together from various sources.
  3. Thankyou for your reply Carl! It was my code of course - notice I removed all items and then didn't give my guy back a radio? Surprise surprise, that is why I'm not getting radio messages. The game engine is working perfectly! :386: Duh! RE the curly brackets I know it's important to open and close with them from tinkering I have done with other games but I'm very rusty. If I were to use them in the above .sqf where would I put them and why? I have looked through the scripting guides but they do not cover this. Some of us need something that teaches the very basic ABC's. The custom loadout with backpack works perfectly like this at the moment: (Always add magazines before weapons to start with the weapons loaded - solves #4)
  4. Fun Server Ban? 07/12/2010 01:06PM Zargabad Life 6.0 Anyone have the contact details for this server? I joined it and got to the screen where you choose your team/rank - over heard 30 seconds of a conversation about someone hacking and letting off satchels and I was banned? Did not even fully join the server before this happened. I had not even started play. I am a clean 36y/o player and this is my 1st ever ban anywhere. It was at the above time and date. Please revoke the ban - it was not me! I would not like my profile / name added to any sort of ban list that might be circulated.
  5. It is not listed so must be someones home machine and it only appears from time to time. I guess I should not be too bothered! Sloppy modding all the same.
  6. The UK Ministry of Defence has signed a £180m contract for 200 new patrol vehicles to replace the controversial Snatch Land Rover. It's a modular vehicle and the crew pod comes in 3 different versions: -fully enclosed with top hatch -pick-up truck -open with roll-cage They were designed by Warwickshire-based Force Protection Europe and Ricardo, a British automotive engineering company, and originally named the Ocelot. They have been renamed Foxhound  by the MoD. I know people are already interested in modelling this vehicle - this is the confirmation that it will be used by British Armed Forces. Curious choice of name though! Doesn't it clash with the well known NATO designation for a certain Mig-31 !!??? 7. Oh that MRAP! Looks like the Ocelot beat the competition: http://www.core77.com/blog/object_culture/the_next_generation_of_british_military_vehicles_14733.asp Detailed specs will not be easy - all the detailed info on the manufacturers website is password protected :( . Hopefully they will release more soon. (you can email them for access?) The door configuration has changed from the prototype - 1 smaller rear door and 1 drivers side door.
  8. Well I would love to produce an addon one day - only been playing the game 6 weeks so no not got around to it just yet. ---------- Post added at 04:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:56 PM ---------- I don't even know what an MRAP is yet - only been playing 6 weeks.
  9. I'm not requesting anything - just letting people know.
  10. Hi all, new to Arma and loving it! I have managed to make a few complex missions in the OA editor and all goes well apart from this, I can't solve it. Helo extraction of my group - AI leader - AI WP 'Get In' synced with Helo WP 'LOAD' and invisble H The MH-60 always rotates on landing so that it lands either sideways or backwards (looks very odd) with the tail usually facing the AI to load. 1 in 5 occasions the AI get stuck on the tail when running to the Helo and can't board and I have to restart the game. I have tried repositioning everything many times and tried different formation commands - no effect. They keep getting caught on the tail horizontal stabilisers or stuck trying to board where the crew chief sits. Is this a bug with the MH-60? I have tried searching but can't find anything on it.
  11. @CyOp I will try the completion radius. Doesn't matter where you put the AI or the 'get in' WP. When the squad leader orders 'Get in that chopper' they all run off 50m from the waypoint you set and the chopper turns as its landing. Sometimes it's ok but 1 in 5 occasions it turns too far and the tail is pointing towards the squad. When they try to board they get stuck behind the tail fins. Hopefully the 'get in' completion radius might work - will post back. @SigintArma Interesting post - just starting to explore modules so that will be useful info for the future. It's a really good feature to be able to record a heli flight like a macro and get the AI to repeat it!:bounce3: Thank you both for the replies. ---------- Post added at 01:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:09 PM ---------- Completion Raduis! Yes that helped - the MH-60 is not turning as much on landing. I set the 'Load' and 'Get In' WPs to 100. All works perfectly now. Thank you!
  12. The latest update adds some PMC characters and vehicle to the ordinary OA. Same thing happened with BAF. Go to the map editor and have a look under Side: Independant There is a new faction: PMC men - Contractor1 and Contractor2 cars - PMC SUV
