OK - I'll admit to being an ALiVE newbie but I was wondering if anyone has tried to run ALiVE mods in Minihattan? It seems to never get going. I've set up ALiVE for Altis and Chenarus in Arma 3, and so far so good. But in Minihattan it says that it loads module_0 and then nothing else. Usually on other islands, it loads the other modules in sequence (module_1, _2 etc) as it populates the map with was scenarios. ALiVE creates a database of objectives and areas of importance, could it be that the building density is overwhelming its abilities? Or could it be that the island is too small to support ALiVE on some of the default parameters? I have set things to small unit size and minimal parameters for testing, but its a no-go. I've waited for at least a 1/2 hour for ALiVE to populate the maps ... maybe ALiVE is stuck in a loop or it would take more years than the remaining life of the sun to compute where to put the units. A CQB highrise urban battlefield would be something to behold. Maybe its too much to expect given the amount of computing we are talking about (see my specs below). I've played SP by putting AI units into buildings and the firefights stairwells and lobbys of the skyscrapers is quite intense. Its better than Die Hard - more like Die Fast! EDIT: It appears that the current RC of ALiVE has problems placing units inside buildings, so this would explain things.

I would imagine in most urban conflict scenarios, the first thing to be shut down by both the attackers and defenders would be the elevator .... rooftop access would be a much higher priority, IMHO.

Iron Front as mod in Arma 3
MissionCreep replied to .kju's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Realistically, I think the engine noise inside a WWII tank would be louder than conversation volume. I like the immersion ... -
Iron Front: Liberation 1944 - community patches (Arma version only)
MissionCreep replied to .kju's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
I followed the instructions and sequence exactly and had no problems with the install. The Eastern Front campaigns seem to be functional with some little quirks. Some clothing issues, but everything looks really nice. There is a problem with US uniforms in the D-Day DLC ... helmets are NATO Arma3 and uniforms are ... uh ... not standard United States Army 1944 issue (basically kevlar armour over underwear, no footwear). Vehicles and aircraft look really good. Aircraft handle well, but vehicles are a little slippery/bouncy (maybe PhysX?). Also, I assume user missions are currently not convertable/playable under Arma3? Thanks again - its amazing how improved life-like the renderings are under Arma3 at high-quality. -
Iron Front as mod in Arma 3
MissionCreep replied to .kju's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
This is amazing. Despite what people claim, after all the initial bug fixes, and the D-Day DLC, IF was never a waste of money. I'm so glad to see that it is getting the life extension that it so rightfully deserves! Thanks so much for all your hard work! -
Beautiful. Rooftops (or at least the one I tried) aren't walkable .... chopper floats a few meters above and players swim through the air. Some buildings may be permeable to bullets (?) I found bullets whizzing by and hitting me inside a sheltered stairwell from outside the building. Otherwise its great.

Hi ... I tried AIA, but this is MUCH cleaner (I know its just the maps). Thanks very much. I'm taking a fall vacation Chenarus! BTW, the torrent download worked great! Is it gone now? I don't see the torrent links anymore.

Thanks!

"True Arma" is whatever I feel like playing at that moment.

The New York City Project

I doubt there will be any phone booths around in 2035 ... or mailboxes. -
If you were carrying a large pack, a tube or parts of a weapon, looking over your shoulder wouldn't do you much good - you would have to turn to look around. Try turning your head 135 degrees while keeping your shoulders pointing straight ahead. If you can do that, Circ-de-So-Lame wants you to work for them. I can turn 135 degrees each way if I turn my head and rotate my shoulders from the hips. When you are carrying a heavy load (as we typically do in Arma - who wants to go into battle with 2 spare magazines and a couple of grenades?), it is easier to stop and rotate yourself than twist your spine and destabilize yourself and your lower back under load. You have to stop continuing to move forward anyway no matter what, because you have taken your eyes off the direction in which you were walking/running.

Enemies have more "life" after last update?
MissionCreep replied to armilio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I have enemies get hit at 200 m with rounds from a mounted 50 cal from a technical - they convulse for a second fall down spring up again in a split second and continue on shooting from the standing position until getting hit with another burst. Unrealsitic, IMHO. -
Weaponrest, get it in even if AI cant use it
MissionCreep replied to krazikilla's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Nobody cares how AI gets a task done, so long as they get it done. If AI can hit the head of a pin at 800m, who gives a rat's behind they are using weapon resting or not? Its like requesting an artillery or air strike in Arma. You call up the firebase or airborne assets through the command menu and click on the target coordinates ... does anyone ever sit at their monitor offended at the absurdity of using a scroll menu and a mouse click in the battlefield to direct a strike? -
So that's it then...? Perrformance

I won't rest until I can get at least 240 fps .... -
single place boody armor in the inventory

I read "bloody armour" ... which I think is what it is most commonly called. -
A3 - single player - Is game enjoyable yet?
MissionCreep replied to tmp95's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
AI is awful. I just let them wander around like blind sheep and get themselves killed while I do all the work. Put a bunch of AIs on ATVs and watch them get stuck riding into rocks, fences and each other. They constantly disregard all manner of commands. I recall a point in the Alpha when AI was pretty good. What on earth happened? Should give TPW a try. -
You can override this in Control->Difficulty options ... I'm not sure if it is true for all missions/campaigns but it has been for the ones I have tried it on.
-
I'm guessing its an "arcade" feature that people like ....
-
No way. It will ruin the immersion for Arma3. The BAE Hawk is too modern and technologically sophisticated an aircraft for the default 2035 Armaverse.

Sorry if this is a repost ... I checked and didn't see anything related but nothing came up, but in v 1.04.111745 if you walk up to a flaming vehicle and stand in the flames, you will suffer injuries (red edges to screen and make i-just-touched-somthing-hot noises) and if you keep doing it, you will eventually die. I know that you used to be immune to flames in Arma II. Seems to take a bit of effort to get seriously burned ... but I guess fire-retardent/fire resistant clothing of the future could be the reason.

AI ignoring commands when in combat...
MissionCreep replied to wingnutt270's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I find this too ... could be they are injured or exhausted (?). I find for me this happens most later in the mission and usually after a fair bit of action. Whatever the cause, they are pretty much doomed once this happens. -
Can now be injured/killed by flames ...
MissionCreep replied to MissionCreep's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Are you kidding? Besides adding realism, it has some tactical consequences. You can deny the enemy cover behind stationary vehicles or in structures by setting them alight with incendiary munitions. You can also create an obstacle to infantry, for example by parking a refueling truck to block a road and set it alight with an explosive charge or even gunfire. -

Probably Brazilian. Arma 3 has a Brazilian Portuguese version listed, but not Portuguese. -

MissionCreep replied to Polygon's topic in ARMA 3 - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Opfor has some light armour (APCs - Blufor has none) but doesn't seem capable of deploying it or keeping the enemy from seizing locations where the vehicles are stored.
