    It really bugs me how media executives get hold of a great franchise and totally make it into something else, not to mention how the original creators or current copyright owners tend to keep reinventing their properties these days. Look at Gotham, the TV show. The show will end when Bruce Wayne finally becomes Batman, but by then, after all that has happened, his emergence will be like, "so what? Yawn." The show's concept was in a good position to tell an interesting back story of Commissioner Gordon, but instead it turned out just another sloppy WB/DC Superhero/Supervillain drama (without the superhero). I digress...

     

    I actually like Gotham, but I definitly don't see it as a prequel to batman, but more like "Batman" without batman. Like it's some alternate reality or something.

    I think that's enough batman here, don't want to derail this thread. :p

     

    No but seriously, I am looking very hard for more futuristically looking assets so this is just up my alley :).

  2. Full Chernarus map

     

    If we look at the full Chernarus map there is only one place that seems to fit the "north zagoria name" and that's the northern part of the area directly west of SZ. I see how it could be made as borders/areas such as that doesn't always lie perfectly aligned to the name. For example in the US West virginia is actually north of Virginia.

    Well the US armed forces did adopt a camo that didn't work for any of the areas they were operating in. So using a strange weapon colour doesn't seen that out of their league.


  4. I have seen some cases, mostly when it comes to airplanes and helicopters that now and then skip/jump back in the air. However the problem I have experienced has been minimal, and that is ranging from 5 to 40 player co-op and 10- 140 player pvp. It's all about what servers you play on and if the server is having a bad day. Some maps also have certain areas that give people fps problems. Sometimes it happens but it's been so few times I hardly would call it a serious problem. Now I don't play on public servers so it could be a totally different situation over there. I don't know exactly what game modes you play but if it is life servers and such they are quite "famous" for having lousy perfomance.

     

    And about fluid movements, it's true that Arma close quarter battle isn't the most fluid thing, getting stuck in doors and on stairs and such is sadly a reality. But to say outdoor fightings suffer as well is beyond my comprehension, IMO medium range fights is where Arma shines.

  5. I have had really much fun with this mod and looking forward to any future updates. :)    However I can't understand how little respect some people have for IP and modders rights. I have battled guys on reddit who legitimatly thought BI should force modders to release their content as open source no matter what, it's just mind blowing.

  6. So here is my solo experience with Apex protocol.

     

    It starts a bit fast, you have no idea what you're doing, who you are or why you are there. You're searching for a guy but why. Also in that first mission intel was a bit bad, I didn't know if I would follow the other guys or go alone(which was the right way). Which leads me to the third thing. I realise the campaign is definitly made for coop, but atleast give us loners some AI soldiers to command. This was a big thing for many missions as you are mostly alone against way to many enemies that storm you from all directions. The respawn, believe me, I am so happy respawn existed due to the fact I got my ass handed to me so many times due to massive amount of enemies. However it also ruined a few things as you couldn't really revert to an earlier save and try to assault the place from another place. And the enemies advanced towards the closest respawn post. I can respawn from one further away but that would mean to walk way to long instead of just loading a save and the enemy would still be on alert.

     

    Now it wasn't all bad, there are some epic moments and despite wanting to see more of the main forces I still liked the setting. The voices and cinematics were spot on. And the viper introduction was awesome, it was pretty tense(until the respawn took it away). I also would have wanted to see more of the civilian factions and the gendarmerie.


  7. Worth the preorder price but wouldnt say the full price unless you are hardcore Arma player and your private server will most likely use it.

     

    Can't really rate the Apex yet as it hasn't been released and most of things might get fixed BUT as of this moment the Apex Preview quality is subpar imo.

     

     

    8. Was expecting more famirial firearms and vehicles being used in current militaries.

     

     

    What's good about Apex:

    1. Finally some ARs and AKs in vanilla :) Just hoping they improve texture and sound quality

    2. Quite liking the vehicle loading into VTOLs mechanic. Now you can paradrop IFVs and other lighter vehicles without landing and hovering in combat zone. Eagerly waiting for modders to take advantage of this with Chinooks, C-130s etc.

    3. Tanoe itself looks very nice and should be fun in TVT. I personally didn't have much fun in COOP  against AI so far.

    4. Overall some new engine based improvements

     

    This is just my opinion and it doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it. One man's masterpiece is another's garbage so take this post with a grain of salt. I'm simply a bit underwhelmed with current state of Apex Preview.

     

    What do you mean with more familiar firearms: Nato uses it's normal and nato SF uses an M16 version(or HK 416) CSAT uses the main chinese rifle which makes sense due to the setting.

     

     

     

    But on point. I think this is a good expansion, had maybe hoped for a few more vehicles and water assets but all in all it's pretty nice.

     

    Tanoa is amazing but I haven't really been fighting to much in the forests yet so I don't know how it is against AI. 

     

    I do like the vehicles we got now, teh LSVs fill a gap that I have really wanted to be filled and the VTOLs look pretty sick.


  8. I do like the main factions(even if the Israeli equipment is a bit strange), and AAF is definitly my favourite faction with their European style equipment. However like some have pointed out I had hoped that the guerilla faction would look a bit more rugged up, instead they use high tech weapons that's not even used or realistically have been used nearby Altis. Instead I would enjoy the faction more if they actually used a mix of old western and eastern equipment that could have been used by Altisian forces earlier(like old rusty Humwees, M16s, AK74 and so on.


  9. I am making a video featuring a couple of tanks getting attacked by a helicopter, however they always pop smoke that ruins the scene.

    I looked into the class lists and found the name of the smokelauncher(plus smokelaunchermag)

    Ive tried with ( this removemagazine "smokelauncher" )

    (this removeweapon "smokelauncher")

    (this removemagazine "smokelaunchermag")

    And a whole range of different ( removemagazineturret and removeweaponturret )

    I guess I do it wrong as some of these scripts should work.

    But they still pop smoke :(


  10. Like others Im a bit confused about the price. Compared to say BAF from Arma 2 that added several more vehicles, weapons and skins as well as a campaign but only costed "GBP 7.99/EUR 8.99/USD 9.99" at release. While this costs more but only add 2 helicopters and a few game modes. It just doesnt make sense. I guess it got something to do with the gameplay as well, the Rotorlib,slingload and shooting from vehicles are big changes but they are also released for free.


  11. I am sure we will see the XM-25 in the marksmen DLC or in the expansion...

    But I still hope that there will be a free DLC/update with all the missing stuff, especially the railgun tank, the Mortar + Medevac Marshall, the Medevac Opfor APC, the armored Ghosthawk, the KSG 12, the AA40, the M4 Shotgun, the FLIR littlebird, the attachments from pre alpha screenshots.....

    Would be awesome to get all that in a free christmas special update or something similar :cool:

    Wait, have there been hints of an armored ghosthawk?
