Kind of redoing a lot of stuff. Think of it as a layout instead of an actual work in progress. Everything is low-poly and hasn't been sculpted yet. Id guess about 5ish % done with everything :( have some free time this weekend so I will see how far I can get. Backpack is a square since it is just an insanely simple base mesh, going to sculpt it into a molle hydro pack. Also ignore the dirty hood geometry, need to retopologize the base before I sculpt. Going to tweak some things too once I get everything squared away and detailed. Definitely adding buckles on the ak straps. Knife is placeholder until I figure out what kind/if I want to do one. Might add an ak mag pouch or two somewhere on the pack. Going for a hard shell jacket, no visible body armor, and a molle chest rig. Pouch layout is going to be triple bungee m4/pistol pouch in front, double m4 on either site, radio on his left, utility on his right, dump sort of his rear left, and maybe a nade pouch on the left shoulder strap or a flashlight. Possibly doing a drop leg holster, but not doing any other sort of leg pouches. Maybe a belt with a row of 40mm nades or other various pouches. As far as headwear, probably my recon wrap and maybe some glasses or goggles along with a simple cap and a headset. Going to do the jacket in a ranger green, the pants in coyote or dcu and the vest and pouches in coyote brown.

I normally can't stand tiger stripe, but it is looking really nice fox.

is a rts mode possible in arma 2?
drmidnight replied to ray243's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
One thread down seems like a step in the direction you are looking for http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=110033 Not a full blown rts mode, but it seems like it proves the possibility of implementing more "rts-like" features. -
Any video guides on how to install Arma 2 mods?
drmidnight replied to solidsnake2384's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Probably not the best spot to post this.... http://www.armaholic.com/plug.php?e=faq&q=18 Very straight forward, very simple to follow, explains just about everything you will need. I'd go for using the Arma II Launcher if you are really having a problem. -
ToraBora Afghan. Mountain map (OA)
drmidnight replied to Chill xl's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
If only we knew.... Map is looking great, can't wait to work on some missions for this. -
The fact that I use and love ACE will probably mean they will be when they eventually get finished, not sure fox's stance though. I'm going to spend this week working on stuff so expect some new updates, also going to give a try at texturing some things so we will see how that turns out. EDIT: About 20% done, still have all the flaps and little wooden buckle things to do, but that is a long way off. Probably finish it up this weekend.

I know how it can be. The worst was back when poly count actually mattered and people would have a fit over high counts. Im impressed with all the details you have managed with the count it currently has, cant wait to see how this turns out in the end, might have to get into helicopter use.
-
I didn't mean to strike a nerve. I high poly model too, was just curious what it was sitting at right now. Believe me I know that the details will be baked into a lower poly model and I do the exact same thing so I didn't mean to poke and prod.

Very Very nice, really liking how this is turning out. What's the current poly count at?

Lennard's WIP thread

Very impressive -
I appreciate all the suggestions and info and hope it continues, just tired of the same ones on every page. We are making civillian clothing based guys. Progress has been slow since Ive been busy, but I assure you they will be made at some point and hopefully people will be pleased.

This thread is starting to sound like a broken record.......

No multicam, I think we are settled on keeping it woodland on the bdu guys to blend in with ANA and maybe a few guys with some dcu but not sure. Molding the hood to rest on the bag. Ignore the shemagh that one is before my redo, too lazy to import the new one. Chicom and bag straps incoming tomorrow along with new shemagh. Eh might redo everything actually, the hood is looking meh in that shot.

I know I can't stand iba, but I assure you there will be ones without body armor.

The lack of reference material makes these units a dream to work on because there is a lot of creative freedom while still remaining semi-true to the real world counterpart.

Bv 309/Bv 206/ Vikings.. "partner" request.
drmidnight replied to granQ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
This is looking excellent, surprised these haven't managed to make their way into arma already, I love me some vikings. I would definitely model one out for you if I wasn't working on a bunch of other stuff right now. -
Forgot to post this last night, a big ol' 3-day pack. Ak is for show and also a place holder until I finish modeling a folding stock one. Also need to add molle straps, buckles, and a couple of other things, maybe some rope strapped to the bottom for those ops in the mountains. EDIT: Only thing I was able to work on tonight, a hood for a heavier jacket. It kind of drapes like a light fabric so I might redo it and actually use refs instead of freehanding it. Wasn't meant to sound harsh or rude or anything, it has just been stated numerous times in the thread.

[R3F] - Projet FELIN (W.I.P)
drmidnight replied to ~Vagabond~'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Looking good. -
Again, our lighter units will be in full civilian garb as opposed to our heavier ones that will be in bdu's and more traditional gear.

Early kameez attempt, heavy wip, sleeves are next. I am going to keep it above the knees to avoid awkward looking animations.

I've been toying with the idea of doing a hooded outer shell jacket(the hood would be down of course), as I too have seen many pictures with guys wearing them. Not sure if its something that we are going to do, but it's worth talking about since it wouldn't require much work and would look great. Definitely doing a scarf though, maybe a couple different shemaghs and what have you, well at the very least one around the neck and probably one as a head wrap. I need to finish up the RAV and pouches before I do anything else, I keep getting sidetracked with other ideas. Thanks for the suggestions.

Pakul progress, no texture just a plain color. Up next a kameeeeeez and a chicom.
-
On the zbrush shots or the ingame shot? If you are referring to the two lines right above the knee that run horizontal on the ingame shot, pretty sure I didn't add those since they aren't on my sculpt. Kind of looks like a seam from the texture. If you are talking about the two that run off the knee cap on the zbrush shots, that's usually how pants drape. I'm probably going to do a couple more iterations of it so I'll tweak some stuff on the next one when I work on it tomorrow. Also which one of the creases near the crotch area? The one on the right leg could probably do with some toning down a bit. I'll take care of it once I have another go. Pretty sure we are keeping the light guys in strictly civilian garb, i.e. no camo.
