Sound config, I want to create a sound mod!
Locksley posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : ADDONS - Configs & Scripting
Hi everyone, I want to create a sound mod for Iron Front that has just been released and upon unpacking the pbo sound files I can see the developers have been rather untidy and left many hundreds of megabytes worth of sounds from Arma2 that are not actually being used by Iron Front. I also noticed the sounds are not organized in any proper sort of way so to avoid wasting my time editing sound files that are potentially not being used by Iron Front at all, I'd rather know if there is a config file I can look at to see exactly what weapon in the game uses what sound file and from there I can then determine exactly which sound files are being used by the game. Can anyone tell me if such a file exists and if so where would it be located? -
Sound config, I want to create a sound mod!

Yeah I would like to make a soundpack from scratch but I'm not sure how to go about it becuase all the times I've made sound mods for Arm/Arma2 I have overwritten the default ones. The first thing I want to do with Iron Front is replace the terrible explosion/cannon sounds with some nice ones I've got, then move on to the small arms. -
When are the mod makers going to work together?

I loved ArmA as I was unemployed and had a lot of free time on my hands to really get my teeth stuck in to downloading and installing all the best mods to create an awesome game, but these days I just want one installer to install all the best mods for me  I wouldn't mind if all we had to do was downlaoding and install mods, but there's so much conflict and frame rate issues with many of the great mods, forcing the player to go as far as deleting certain .pbo files to disable features that don't get on well with seperate mods. It's ridiculous. When will ACE, SLX, JTD and all the other dozens of great mods be compiled in to one huge awesome mod that is easy to install and keep up to date? -
Damm shame that dude got banned here for just stating the truth. And it does have to be said, Gadaffi is a great guy. This anti-gadaffi stuff has to be the greatest blatant and audacious propoganda stunt so far this century. Next on the kill list will be Hugo Chavez/venezuela and no doubt the mass media will manage to convince the world he too is an evil dictator that needs to be foribly removed. People never learn and are going to find themselves living in an Orwellian nightmare soon enough.

Perfect game? How about BI spend as many years as neccesary to create an ArmA game that is near-perfect. Problem is, the engine/graphics would be so outdated that only the hardest of the hardcore fans would buy it when it is eventually released. It's a no-win situation. Until game creation technology comes along in leaps and bounds to help reduce the burden of need for highly skilled patient coders, we will always have fundamentally flawed buggy games within the ambitious sandbox open-ended genre :(

Easily pleased springs to mind here... I would consider myself a patient person who prefer hobbies and games that require patience to set up and become proficient with, so no I'm not as you describe  I wish mate, but TWI can't bring the game up to the standard we want. It has been released, they have been paid, and patching has it's limitations. RO2 is a failure for TWI and beyond a few patches addressing basic fixes and balancing tweaks the game will stand how it is right now, which is why I only have faith in the modding community to carry on the work. p.s I have played the game... about 4 hours worth of single player.

As a great fan of ROOST, I'm disgusted at the state they released this sequel in. What a truly horrendous abomination it is. Will be waiting for the mods before I pay for it.

Iron Front - Liberation 1944, new WW2 game on A2:OA engine
Locksley replied to Choki's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
WHen will we gamers learn to stop being so nieve? Those screenshots of Iron Front of obviously touched up in photoshop, and being the ArmA engine the game will play like crap and have all the clipping/animation and game mechanical bugs that ArmA has. I wouldn't get my hopes up. Games are just far too complicated to make for a true sandbox game like ArmA/Ironfront to ever be made to the quality we all so dearly desire, that is why 99% of developers create scripted corridoor shooters like battlefield/CoD. I stopped expecting much of games way back in 2006/7 when games started to really become junk, and with the recent pathetic release of Red Orcestra 2 just hits the nail in the coffin for me. These Iron Front devleopers won't bother fixing the glaring bugs of the ArmA engine and will simply work the game to a playable state then take your money. -
Advanced Combat Sound Environment WiP Thread
Locksley replied to tpM's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
While I do love authenticity and realism I have always been of the opinion when it comes to sound mods that making the shots and explosions sound good to the ear is more important than putting time and effort it to making them sound authentic to each particular firearm. -

Locksley replied to Locksley's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
PuFu you come accross like you love the fact that getting all the great mods to install and play together properly is difficult and wouldn't want it any other way. Bizzare. As for being lazy, how about I have other stuff going on in my life unlike in the ArmA1 days when gaming was my only hobby. Also note I actually made some sound mods for ArmA1 when it was first released so I'm not a n00b. I see SixUpdater has finally become a usuable piece of software.. much simpler to use than earlier versions. I still would prefer a combined mod package that would be so comprehensive and awesome that it would quickly be adopted by the majority of players and clans. Uniformity in mods is what is badly needed in this community. I will install this CoWarMod and try it later tonight. -

Hi, I am aware of CoWarMod and will try it soon, but I am really waiting for a ACE compatible version to be honest. I think ACE should be the basis that all other mods aim to fit and be compatible with. -
ACE 1.6 (Advanced Combat Enviroment) for OA/CO

Why can I not find them in the mission editor, then? -
ACE 1.6 (Advanced Combat Enviroment) for OA/CO
Locksley replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Ok thanks for clearing that up. Now I have a problem where I cant spawn ammo/weapon boxes in the editor so I can't even get a bloody aimpoint optic even if i wanted it! What is the new way to spawn ammo/weapons boxes??? -
ACE 1.6 (Advanced Combat Enviroment) for OA/CO
Locksley replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Quick question. Why dosn't my weapon optics have night vision even though I'm wearing my NVG's? I've checked the ACE2 features page and theres no word about it. Anyone??? -
LordJarhead. I do like your explsoion sounds for the C4, claymore and all the other explosives and mines, but alot of launchers/munitions and tank guns still have the vanilla explosion sound, is this a known bug or have I made a mistake somewhere? I will pack up my sound libary and upload them for you later tonight.

Hi. Is this mod compatible with @WarFXParticles and @JTD? If so does this mod make either of them obsolete? Also what order do I load these mods in. Also how can ACE2's tracers be improved upon- they are bloody perfect already!!
-
As a sound mod creator/enthusiast myself I can really appreciate the immense amount of effort and sheer technical skill you have put into this mod. Thank you! Regretabbly I do have a niggle, though. The explosion sounds are missing for a lot of the munitions, and the ones that are changed by you are not exactly the best sounding explosions. I have a huge sound libary of war sounds and I'd be honoured to share and help you develop some truly great explosion sounds!

User Add-On Guide for more Realism and Immersion (ACE2-based)
Locksley replied to the.d's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Thanks for this but I'm still having a lot of trouble using SIX Updater. I consider myself an advanced user, even having made mods for ArmA1 and other games in my time. Something needs to be done to compile all these top quality mods in to a 1-click package. Why arn't there any steps being made towards this? EDIT: OK I've somewhat got closer to playing with this mod combination by means of manually installing and customizing all the mods, but one thing I absolutely hate is how the weapon optic sight pictures on the various small arms take up the entire screen space. What the hell happened to 3D scopes? It looks like your firing some kind of stationary weapons system than a bloody assault rifle - horrid. Someone Please tell me how this can be changed so the scope is only taking up half the screen and you can see the battlefield in your periphial. Hope I explained this well enough. -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

Ok that's good to hear. So do you reckon my rig will play ArmaII smoothly with the settings I stated before? -

Thanks for the reply. I've already purchased the CPU, mobo and RAM. CM690 II advanced case and seasonic m12d and 500gb caviar black is on it's way. just deciding on the graphis card now. I was originally going to get the GTX 460 as it is a flawless card by all accounts, but then I realised my CPU would bottleneck it so the GTS 450 suddenly became interesting. Does anyone have a similar rig as mine and can report good performance with the aformentioned quality settings? p.s I guess a better way of explaining what view distance I want would be percentage-wise. 70% view distance is what I would like to be able to play at. -

Hi all. I would massively appreciate it if any of you could tell me if my new gaming rig will be good enough to play Arma2 at the following graphics quality levels: 1680x1050 resolution high view distance high quality textures high quality shadows The rig... Hi all. I'm suprised there isn't a sticky on this. I'm about to buy the remaining pieces to complete my new gaming rig. One of these is the GPU. It will be nVidia. Just what sort of cards play this game smoothly at 1280x1024 with all details except for AA and AF, and high view distance? Will a GTS 450 at around £115 do okay or should I be expecting to pay around £160 for a GTX 460? Just what is needed for a hassle-free high graphics quality experience of Arma2?
