  1. Actually some of the cross-com/integrated info in GRFS seems perfect for specops units in this game (barring a few exceptions like magical white lines pointiing to exactly where your teammates barrel is pointing, this also would be irrelevent when shotting at any longer reange engamements since where your barrel points is not neccesarily where the bullet goes and my make it look like your buddy is aiming at one guy when he is really aiming at the guy right below him)
  2. Thats awsome, when my gaming computer comes back from the dead (everything died xcept gfx card) I will definatly have to check out the battlefield games outside of BF2 for consoles and the BC spinoffs.
  3. With a fully realized underwater level someone could script a vehicle (like a boat) to properly sink a certain way into the water depending on where it is hit. Imaging running along an aircract carrier as it tilts skyward. With the phyx integrated movement and reactions applying to players and vehilces we could doge planes that slide off the runway towards us as our running shlows from the increases angle of the runway, trying to make it to a life boat hanging off the edge!
  4. Interesting, thanks for the info.:)
  5. MP7 and P90, HK416, Corner Shots (various types) ---------- Post added at 12:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:52 AM ---------- Interesting, how come the gun has two completely names? Does the U.S Army just arbitrarily change shit like that or is it some other institution that gave it a second Name/Number designation to the gun?

    Extended breaching Capabilities

I think if they model the buildings so that the doors can be destroyed more easily then say the rest of the building (assuming a door is its own object and not "one" with the building) it would be good enough. Modders could add the ability to kick in locked doors or to make doors that have more detailed damage models to better demonstrate the effects of a breaching shotgun (not just have the door disintigrate) then all will be good in this respect. I think Smookie and Reezo would make another animations add on to allow back to wall/throw in grenade type stuff in A3 (also breaching commands for AI like R6V2 would be boss)

    FCS for helicopters.

In other words, the best part:)
  8. Awww... that's to bad! (though part of me wants to spend the next several hours dreaming up some incredibly elaborate way to disable said countermeasure by way of some extremely convienant plot hole...):p
  9. A secret underwater base for refuling/resupplying nuclear submarines!! we could sneak in by clinging to the side of a sub (scripted) and when the air-lock drains the water we can remove our swim gear, unpack weapons and ambush the sub crew as they exit, then proceed to take down the whole facility!

    Caring about the Player

As *up until 3-4yrs ago I was a COD-type fanboy in the sense that my patience for games did not offer relativly easy challenges or had shitty graphics (whatever those were considered at any particular point in time anyway) was almost nonexistent. And about 6 months ago when I finally purchased arma 2 (this is after having played and learned to love Operation Flashpoint Elite several years back, the first openly difficult and fun game I have ever played that showed me why graphics dont matter the most I might add with a touch of pride :)) and for a while outside of some early campaign missions and a few small amature editor missions I still beleived I had seen it all (it all being a mildly engaging, sandboxy game with clunky close range shooting and difficult-yet-enjoyable long-range shooting) I had yet to try my first real intense offering of ARMA combat (I thought placing alot of guys w/heavy weapons and waypoints all around was the only way to get this feeling of fear and intensity but they were so short lived because I would die after about 20sec they frustrated me more than they entruiged me) it just so happened that when I tried the little village engagement at the end of the Basic training mission that I realized the gripping intensity of ARMA combat about not knowing where your enemy could possibly (more than just a "will they pop out of this corner or that one?" be gave me the feeling walking off a cliff and flying by the seat of my pants, every step I took I felt was only there because luck or some higher power had let it be so, I felt helplessly out of control of the situation and not at all confident in my abililties as a soldier, I almost squealed in joy/surprise/terror and debated hotly with myself wether or not I should engage (purely out of concern for my own safety, not because I wanted to gloatingly savor the moment before a kill) eventually I did and only managed to get two badguys out of the 3 or 4 that were in that patrol. Then as they turned to get a bead on me I quickly jumped up and ran out of the engagement area (the village) and decided to flank. Long story short I got a few more kills but ultimatly failed. It was the most satisfying defeat I ever had, (up until that point, the ONLY satisfying defeat I ever had). The pride I got from holding my own in what was a long fight for survival against a small group of deadly enemies felt real, but more importantly, the knowledge that the fight I had lost was by no means unwinnable made me hunger for more. So it took me a long time to get the full enjoyment of Arma 2 and I have a sick feeling that without the guidance of proper BIS tutorials and missions it will take much longer for the less determined/enthusastic members of our community that perhaps be drawn in by Arma 3,to get that full enjoyment, longer than they are willing to wait.
  11. Im just curious to know, it will be interesting to see how much A3 development time overlapped with A2 dev time and if one affected the other.
  12. Since this game takes place in the near future and NATO is supposedly on the edge...would it be reasonable to expect an armor like Dragon Skin in the game? It seems like the risk would be worth it (falling into enemy hands that is). I did notice that in the E3 demo the player was shot atleast once and there was almost no reaction even campared to A2, could it be because of this body armor or maybe just the usual Early-Build stuff? (Any comments from BI developers are welcome ofcourse:))

    Medics from "Out-of-Team" Healing

But, if he has an allergic reaction he could die...no?
  14. [/color] Seriously, a whole island made from the usaual statilite data/research (that is by far the largest ilsand they've ever done) new unit/weapon skins that are all being made to a higher graphical standerd than in all previous arma games as well as integrating Physx (even at the early level its at now) working on RTT and starting work on a completely redone animation system, not to mention acutually taking the time to come up with completely new vehicles that need to have the right balance between futuristic and realistic which takes some amount of thought other than simpley (not really simple I know) copying about several dozen blueprints for your vehicle designs and specs. I know BI is a really talented team but they cant have been doing all this work for less than six months, especially if you count the pre-production process of just figureing out what the hell it is they want to do with the franchise. Not to mention there is probably much more work that they have already done that they do not want us to know about yet to surprise us later. So yes I think they have. But I suppose I could be wrong... (Maybe devs will confirm or deny my above statement)
  15. Yeah they might not want to go too overboard with it (though I honestly have no idea just how much is too much) it might be as simple as putting in a few damage reduction values like %speed/kinetic energy decrease=%damage increase for each round type.

    FCS for helicopters.

I just want the current system on alll difficutlies expect one, a Simulation difficulty mode where the realism is as close as you can get it (100% real FCS for instance) on all things, if BI dont flood the game with units I think we could assumue a higher level of realism for all things.
  17. BobcatBob

    Bohemia's realism.

That explains why Tier 1 operators have all those bushy beards...it renders the lower half of their face completely bullet proof! (Up to a 50.cal that is;))

    Will you buy ARMAIII?

I'll propbably buy the game a year after release (that's when I'll be getting a computer capable of running it)
  19. Yeah, that LSA stuff seems really intriguing I rember seeing a sign a couple years back asking for donations where regular clothing could be saturated with the stuff (or maybe it was nanobots) that could provide protection from the occaisonal stray bullet (for kids in Africa) it was wierd and totally surprising for me to see that paper add just pinned to wall. Don't know if the program ever took off though. (My fanatsy armor at this point would be a disk-based armor (not sure what material would be used) and under that a layer or two of the LSA stuff sounds like it would be evened out a little by more powerful ammunition but still increasing combat survivability w/o being too cheap)

    Arma 3 engine

Well I think the blending of animations can be done using something like ANT (BF3) Im not sure if its just a matter of coding it into the game or if it has to be done for each combo of anims.
  21. Would be awesome I agree, but at this stage of development I think it's impracticle (regarding DMM) maybe next time or the time after that, who knows?:)
  22. For the record Ive only seen 3 episodes over the course of the two years I knew that it existed if it makes you feel any better (I don't see why you care). If you got so up-in-arms about me mentioning Dragon Skin I'd think you'd care enough to just explain me (that it falls apart in extreme temperatures and various other liquids like saltwater, etc.) right away and not be so pompus about it. It just risks causing unneccesry agrression, which the internet does not need more of. Either way, my OTHER point still stands about using a dragon skin concept as far as the interconnected "scales" go so you can get at least CLOSE to those previously recorded test results in ALL environmental conditions, I would come to expect some progress in this area, it being the future and all.
