  1. Is that possible to play a sound outside of ArmA II and/or convert it from .WSS format into something playable (.WAV or .OGG)? Converting .WSS to .WAV seems to be possible, but I can't find any tool that does the opposite.
  2. Thanks, it seems that I should have searched for OFP tools intead of ArmA II.

    No more flying bodies please

I'd also support this change, I once hit an infantryman with a sabot round from M1 Abrams and he stayed in one piece. It should blow him into gibs. Also, hits from large caliber rounds (.50 cal or so) should be as messy as they really are (M107 would be noticably more "fun" with this). What ArmA series always done well was conveying the atmosphere of war and showing it just like it really is. Having heavy weapons massacre bodies like they do IRL would greatly improve the immersion. I doubt there would be many things with greater emotional impact than seeing your squad literally torn to shreds by a HMG or HE rounds from an APC. That's exactly how making a mistake in a war zone may end up like. Blood showing up on TWS would also be helpfull, especially that it's sometimes difficult to tell if the enemy just went prone or was killed. Aside from blood, I'd also like to see weapons and equipment being damaged if hit (the aforementioned infantryman hit my a sabot round still had his weapon, mags, grenades and everything perfectly usable, as if he was hit by an M-16 round) and parts being scattered around along with gibs.

    gQ Minigun

This gun reminded me of XM214 Microgun. It would be great if somebody made a Microgun addon, even though the project was cancelled. Although it wasn't hand-held, it was designed to be carried by infantry. Also, since ArmA II is set in the future, it could be an interesting idea to have it as a tank based CIWS (crazy idea, but seriously considered). More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microgun

    Secret Agent Mod Releases

I hope that if somebody makes a mod featuring Surface to Air Missile launchers for ArmA II, he'll be more creative when it comes to names. :)

    Female Soldier (beta wip)

Women fight in Iraq (at least in US and Polish forces), so I don't see any reason why shouldn't they be in Takistan. I'm going to get this as soon as I get OA. IMHO, BIS should have included fermale soldiers from the start (though I'm unsure what USMC allows women to do, so not including them in ArmA II may be more realistic).
  7. Mirage 2000 has been done in HEXAGON mod (French units). http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=10248
  8. I don't know if this has been suggested before, but I'd like to see F-22 Raptor and F/A-18 ported from ArmA to ArmA II. It would also be great if somebody made Sukhoi PAK FA for ArmA II, though availablity of it's technical data may be a problem.

DLC - bigger and new maps

I'd like a simple, huge desert map with a few villages, millitary bases, oil fields and airfields, optimized for aircraft missions. I wouldn't pay for it though.
  10. I'd like ArmA II to have a toggleable option of disabling windows functions, especially Alt+F4 is really annoying to me. Especially that unit 4 is a field medic in ArmA II campaign, so when I'm looking around while wounded and I try to select him to see where he is, game closes. That almost got me killed at one point.

Do you want upgraded Arma 2 content?

I think it definitely should be done as a free patch, I don't have OA, but hearing that CO doesn't integrate it's features into ArmA II units makes me feel glad that I bought just ArmA II and not CO. If it was a DLC I would have to pay for, I'd most likely get it, but it won't be too high priority.

    Future soldier

I don't know if it shouldn't be in mods section rather than suggestions, while possiblity of modding it should be possible, it has no place in vanilla ArmA II. Except, of course, if the US army has plans to put this powered armor they're working on into service. It doesn't seem like they're going to do it anytime soon though, the technology is still in prototype stages. When DARPA finishes it, of course it would be great to have it in ArmA II. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_Lower_Extremity_Exoskeleton http://bleex.me.berkeley.edu/bleex.htm

    Light vehicles destruction

I've also posted about this, cars in ArmA II sometimes blow up after falling, hitting a mesh fence or getting their wheels shot with an M9 (it all happened to me, really, and not in Ford Pinto). Light vechicle damage model needs some work, it would also be great to be able to change tires on vechicles and make minor repairs (Chernarussian cars seem similar to Polish ones from about 30 years ago, some of older ones could be fixed with a hammer, monkey wrench, screwdriver and some patience, like most Soviet technology:)). Also, tank crews are taught how to repair a thread or fix other minor damage to their vechicle (I don't know if M1A2 TUSK has it's reactive armor plates actually exploding, but if it does, it would also be nice to be able to replace them if they're available).

    Knife proposal

Enfield rifle is in ArmA II? I know that there's a version of Mauser 98 (CZ550 hunting rifle), but never seen any really old guns aside from that and Barret M1911A2 (and maybe Revolver .45 from OA, but I only know if from rading website, because I don't have OA).
  15. I think that something should be done to damage model of ArmA II vehicles, especially unarmored cars. The problem is, they behave worse than a Ford Pinto, exploding from the slightest damge done to them, especially to wheels. Examples: 1: I was shooting wheels in a car with my silenced M7 to make sure it won't be able to get away. When I shot the 4th wheel, it exploded. 2: Even more ridiculus, I was driving an UAZ with GL and hit a net fence, which somehow blown my wheel. At first I thought "No big deal", but then, the UAZ exploded. Aside from that, numerous cars exploding from collisions, rifle bullets (Mythbusters busted that story in RL, they were only able to set fuel on fire and they had to use a minigun with incendiary rounds), falling from silly heights and rolling over. Not even Pinto was that bad, it hapened to blow up on collisions, but that all about it. And I would expect HMMVW or UAZ to be safer than it.

    Vehicle damage model

I looked for this issue being discussed earlier, but couldn't find anything. maybe I should have looked harder. Anyway, it would be nice to see this fixed. It does break immersion when a car is exploding from such petty reasons as flat tire. I don't know if this doesn't affects larger wheeled vehicles as well, if that happened to APCs, it would be a serious problem (crew bails out, that's for sure, but I'd have to see if they also explode after losing a tire or two).

    Vehicle damage model

Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum. Of course, I wanted to suggest changing that to something more realistic. :) Maybe it should be a bug report (this may not be a bug, but a problem due to the way engine handles damage, so I'm not sure). Anyway, it's not realistic and can be annoying at times, UAZ exploding after getting a flat tire is ridiculus. As for tone of the post, example #2 happened just before I wrote the post (and it was a reason I decided to post about it), so I was quite frustrated by the issue.

    Knife proposal

It may be because I'm not playing on high difficulty, but today I got into a situation in which I would really appreciate a knife. I ejected from my plane and fell into water, which of course caused my MP5 to slip away about halfway to the shore. Then, I had to sneak into the enemy camp (it was a challenge in armory) and noticed an enemy soldier hiding in bushes and guarding the other part of a shore. He was using a scope and didn't noticed me somehow, so if I wanted, I could have walked right onto him. Unfortunately, pilots don't get sidearms. I can imagine it happening anytime when a pilot is shot down over the water and encouncers the enemy, which can happen. Of course, some way to dive to retrive the weapon could have prvented this, but I don't know if it wouldn't be even more difficult to implement than knifes (and if you get shot down over depper water, it wouldn't help anyway).

    Knife proposal

I really like the idea of the tool system, ideally, it should allow to do two things with each tool: A "proper" use and meele attack (axe, wrench or showel can be quite effective in meele if used right). It wouold be really great if players could dig trenches, cut wires (those darn impassible fences with which any real Marine would not have any problem), do minor repairs to vechicles in field (ability to change a tire in a car could come in handy from time to time), etc. Also, parked vechicles (except those which don't require this) should require a either a bayonet or proper keys to get in, because they would obviously be locked, which is not reflected in ArmA II (OK, some people may leave their cars open in Sweden, but in post soviet countries like Poland or Chernarussia such behaviour would get those cars stolen in few minutes).

    Knife proposal

I think a knife (and/or bayonet, they can be attached to modern rifles) could find a place in ArmA II, even if not for combat (though ability for silent kills without a silenced pistol might be usefull sometimes), it might be used for things like slashing tires on vechicles you have to leave, but not want taken (mostly in MP I guess, AI seems to be unable to comandeer vehicles left lying on the field) or for guerillas as an emergency weapon. It would also enhance feeling of realism, because soldiers are issued knifes in real life. And of course, introdicing system allowing it's usage could help WWII, WWI and other historical mods. US army recently announced discontinuation of bayonet training, but I read that before that, recruits were taught to use bayonets before being thaught to fire their rifles.
  21. How can I run ArmA II flash game? After I download the file and try to open it with my browser, it only fills it's window with some kind of strange code.
