  1. Yes. Trees look "frosty", same with the grass. Strange gray/white layer flashing. This with GTX 570, latest drivers.

    Latency

I also think that it´s about time to admit that netcode is faulty. Game is great, there is no question about it, but it makes no sense to create a game so complex that it could only show you the possibilities and then fails to deliver them properly. BIS should really forget about making these DLCs and focus on improving the game core and multiplayer. The modding community has allready made mods so innovative, that BIS is going to have a hard time getting anywhere near with their DLCs. And let´s face it: modding community and large scale co-op multiplayer is what is keeping this game alive, year after year, starting from the original OFP. So why not make it playable and wipe the floors with BFBC2 and other AD/HD -shooters? I know that BIS has to make money out of something, namely these expansions. But seriously; wouldn´t it be better to concentrate on what makes this game special and one day get the big money out from that. After all, to a casual gamer (who I think is supposed to buy these DLCs) Arma II is still strange, resource-hog east european niché game with complicated multiplayer. For us, the devoted (who play the game mostly through Notepad and dream about working, lag-free multiplayer) it´s a way of life. But we are soon tired of living our lives this way. I even started to play BFBC2, when I finally got fed up with warping enemies. They warp, whatever configuration / setup you try. Pretty please BIS: make it work, make it simpler if that is what it takes, but for god´s sake; do something about it!

    Patch 1.55 Issues

Patch 1.55 is not working. For me the game is playable, though framerate has gone down 20 FPS in the OA benchmark (1.54=54 fps, 1.55= 34). Intresting thing is that I used to play with settings ranging from low to high, and now with 1.55, I could switch everything (including AA) to high and I even gain a frame or two! Still it´s not as fast at it was. Especially performance in the villages and towns has detoriated a lot, it´s almost as bad as it was on OA release. However, I don´t have any of those graphical problems that people are experiencing here. But my friends have all of them; blinking, textures not loading, extremely bad performance, CTD... These guys have played OA with steady 50 + frames until the 1.55 patch came out. Interesting thing is that I was able to aquire these problems too when I installed the latest betapatch (75666). Performance problems among my friends are not related to processor or GPU. With indentical set-up, one is able to play, other one gets a slide show. Both were fine before (1.54), playing with very high-setting and getting already mentioned 50+ FPS. To make things even more confusing, I noticed yesterday that performance in the Island Panthera was great. Even better than before. Even in the biggest towns with multiple enemies and vehicles there was no performance drop. Transfer the same mission to Takistan and you get a nice slideshow to show to your relatives. What is going on in here? BIS, please revert back to 1.54 ´cause game was stable and good performer then. These problems seem to be so wide rangeing that fixing things so that majority of the users will be happy could take a long time. Quick hotfix back to the good ol´ days, thank you. Oh, and if it matters, here´s my rig: Phenom II X4 965 BE 5 GB RAM Radeon 4890 Super OC (latest drivers) Win 7 / 64 bit
  4. Title pretty much says it all, but I want to share my strange experience in some detail. I´ve had decent frame rates so far in OA with Normal/High-settings and pretty low resolution (1024x768, I use projector in games). However, things sucked pretty bad in big cities, even in editor with just one guy. Not an actual slide show, but far from fluent. Yesterday I, just out of curiosity, tried Zagrabad with everything maxed out and with a resolution of 1680x1050. Result: almost butter smooth performance! Also the infamous "From Hell"-mission comes playable with these maxed out settings (it´s still bad, but you can actually play it). How could this be? Now, my GPU is pretty good even on todays standards and propably adequate enough to play ARMA 2 smoothly. It seems to me now that if I don´t utilize all the resources of my GPU some calculations are transfered to CPU and result is immediate performance drop. Is this even remotely right? I´m upgrading my CPU now to Phenom II X4 965 BE and can´t wait to see the results. If graphics settings are now somewhat "optimized" for my gear, things should be pretty great when I get rid of my bottlenecking dual core- processor. Oh, and speaking of quad-cores; could someone please post a link about how the CPU-count and EX-threads settings should be in ARMA 2 and OA with quad core processor? ------------------------------- Rig: Core 2 Duo E7500 2,93 ghz 4 gb RAM Club 3D Radeon 4890 Super OC Win 7 64 bit HDD 7200 rpm
  5. I´m not saying that Domination is the work of the devil, it really is a great game mode. The only problem is that it has become unplayable on most of the servers most of the time. That was not always the case, I used to play it a lot with my friends and we didn´t experience this lag problem (at least not to this extent) before. Sure there was lag with other human players, but the AI moved smooth and silky. Nowdays it is a totally different story; jumping and jerking all around. That´s why I was asking if anyone else have noticed this NEW problem with Domi. If the Domination would run like the "official" CTI-missions (performance-wise), I would be and play it like theres no tomorrow. So, I´m not here to diss Domi, just looking for a solution.
  6. There´s allready been a lot of discussion if OA runs better than ARMA2. I´m one of the fortunate ones to have it run way better than basic ARMA, although my rig ain´t exactly a monster one. One thing bothers me though; Domination games in multiplayer. They are laggy. Like, unplayably laggy. It wouldn´t be a problem if you could find other gamemodes than Domination with decent amount of players. The lag-monster manifests itself mostly in the enemy AI. They move around with 30 m lag-jumps and their vehicles can´t seem to be able to decide wether to go forward or backwards. My ping is usually very low on these games (about 32), and other player controller soldiers & vehicles move smoothly. It´s just the enemy that keeps jerking. Is it just me, or is anyone else experiencing this? I tried one of OA´s CTI-mission online yesterday; 24 players & big battles. It ran great. No lag with enemies whatsoever. Has Domination too much processing going on and does this render it unplayable? Still, everyone keeps playing it. Am I the only one in this world with crappylaggy AI on Domination? My rig is: Dual Core E7500 2,93 Ghz 4 Gb RAM Radeon 4890 Super OC "High"-preset selected on OA
