I uninstalled the audio driver, wiped it clean with "Driver Cleaner", then reinstalled directx, then reinstalled the game - still the same "X3DAudio..." error.
Does BIS tech support answer? I sent them 3 emails so far..................

The sound card (embedded) is Realtek. I checked and I do have the latest drivers.
-
I tried a meticulous audio driver uninstall - even ran that driver cleaner sw - then reinstalled directx, then reinstalled arma2 - no good - same X3DAudio_6.dll error.
BIS will hopefully answer my email for tech support someday??
-
Ok I did uninstall the audio drivers but did NOT use that cleaner software - is that software shareware? Can you post a link to it?
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for responding - but I followed that thread and the reinstallation of the latest Directx to the letter - didn't help! Arrrrggggghhh.............
-
I downloaded the Feb Directx update from Microsoft, then extracted and installed. It went through the updating process and when I ran DXDIAG, everything checked out. I also ran the "Webupdater" later on as well.
I am running Win7 64 and just got my system last week, so it already had Directx 11 on it.

I have an Intel board with embedded "High Definition Audio" on board. I uninstalled the driver in Device Manager, then rebooted. Upon reboot Windows 7 automatically reinstalled the driver, and it still did not work. Idid not, however, use the "driver Cleaner" or whatever it is software - could that be the difference??????????????????

I am experiencing the same "X3D - not a Windows file..." shit. I have also tried all suggestions. Does BIS tech support EVER answer?????????

I have run the latest Directx updates and this does NOT fix this problem. Something else is going on here.
-
I get the same error - I upgraded my Directx but it still did not work. Both the demo AND the full version give me this error.
-
Did that - same same. I renamed the X3DAudio_6.dll and even re-installed the Directx on the ARMA2 DVD - it put it's own X3DAudio_6.dll file back (filedate: 3/16/2009) and it still crashed.
Maybe I need another sound card?
-
No, but I will try that

Ok, tried uninstalling/reinstalling the sound drivers - no difference. I have embedded sound on an Intel MB - its called "High Definition Audio Devide" in device manager.
-
Tried the Directx re-install - but I have Directx 11 - maybe the game does not support 11??

I'm going nuts! I purchased ArmA2 a couple of days ago, and cannot get it to run on my system (specs below). I have updated the game to 1.05, but when I run the game I get the error:
“C:\Windows\system32\X3DAudio1_6.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an errorâ€
Can ayone help??

Yeah - I learned the "Run as Administrator" trick early on.
